Howdy! Yes, I would love to add you too. Also, thanks for the link on myspace members. It just gives us more support other than this great board.

Oh believe me, I did. She is amazing doing that for me. I kept asking her, are you sure you have good enough credit to get that kind of loan, she kept me positive. Hope to be a bandster soon.

:update: As promised, I said I would keep the board updated. Care Credit went through, and I am apporved for the Lap-Band. Thank goodness for my mother (love her, she helps all the time) she is the one that applied for me and I got $12000 for my procedure, which covers almost everything. I got my hospital fees, doctor fees, happy drugs fee, fills, and post op care covered for 1 whole year, YES!!!!!!!!! Anyway, just thought I would share the exciting news. :amen:

You said it, my DH says, "First of all, congrats and second of all, I'm scared". I asked him why are you scared, he says, "Well, this is surgery, surgery itself scares me, but I am really scared about all the new clothes you are going to buy!" LOL, he cracks me up.

How do you know a goal weight?
mannamay replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have set a goal of 140, but, with that said, I will see how I feel when I get close to that number. I may choose to lose more or not. But, 140 is pretty ideal for my height. I am 5'6". From what I am told it is all about the feel good factor. My DH says that if I choose to go lower than that, then I am crazy. He thinks curves are pretty and says a little cusion for the pushin is good...lol. You can let your mind wander on that, these are his words and he has a funny way of talking to me! Anyway, good luck with your decision. You will know what is right for you when the time comes. Take it easy! -

Girls: After you lost weight do strangers give you more attention?
mannamay replied to Sunta's topic in The Lounge
What I don't like when you are heavy is when you go for a job interview and the interviewer can't help but stare at you ( not in a good way ). I went for a job interview the other day and I did not get it, but a slender girl did. What a suck out! -
Gemini here.

Hello again... According to my doc's office, I will meet with him and the nutritionist the same day. I can, if I want, schedule to meet with the psych doc the same day as well. His office is around the block from my lap-band doc's office. The nutritionist said that most people from their office schedule all of their appointments the same day to get them over with especially if you don't live in San Antonio. I will probably just meet with the lap doc and nutritionist on one day and the psych and lab work on another day. As with any other, just have to have it all done before surgery to be cleared. If you are self pay, they will do the surgery anywhere from 8 days-2 weeks after your initial consult. That is why it is possible for me to have surgery in May, but still have to get the financing. Hope the financing issue does not throw me into a later date. I will keep you all posted. Later!

Okay, I saw there were a few threads about Herbalife on here. I do have a question. Since the doc wants you to drink protein shakes, and I can see why, I was wondering what it would hurt to drink Herbalife. I have done it for a long time. The shakes to me taste pretty good, so is it going to hurt me to drink them when the time comes?

Great to hear Annabelle! Glad you were able to get your dog taken care of. I have to little dogs myself, and if they were real sick or needed surgery, I would of done the same thing.

Hi healthny, yes, I too have issues with my change, don't get me wrong, I want to change, hence the reason why I am doing this. I often sit around and think, how I am going to be different as a thin person? Will it change my attitude, better or worse? Ya know? Then I often wonder, what is going to be better, I know besides doing this for myself, I am also doing this to be around for my children and DH. You do become very comfortable with your body so I do understand what you are saying. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I really didn't think they would hurt me, they are high in protein, I will check the lable for the whole carb thing and sugar. I will definately ask the doc to see what he thinks. I know a lot of docs recommend Herbalife as well as many other's like Advocare, I think thats how you spell it.

Hey Spydr, I had my eyes done too, isn't it great! Love it!!! Anyway, yes, my doc accepts care credit, thank the lord. Thanks Mema for the info. I will check into that as well. Laura, I figured it was based on credit score, just wanted to make sure. See when I applied for care credit to do my eyes, they denied me. I ended up going with their Inhouse financing program. My husband's credit score is just under 600, that is why we are going to wait until May to get the financing. I am hoping by then it will go up over 600 so they will approve us. I don't know how many points you get on your credit score for selling a house early, but we will see.
-
Mommalee, we are almost alike. I have about 95-100 lbs. to lose and I am hoping to be banded in May as well. Just have to wait for the whole finance thing. Good luck with everyone who is being banded in May.

My husband doesnt really have a problem getting the credit cards, but they always want to give him smaller amounts, they wont give him what we need. Kinda stuck right now, but the good news is, if I wait until my appointment in May, my mother said that if I cannot get the financing, she will get care credit under her name and let me use it, so there is one thing postive for the day.
-
Well, I have not tried care credit, but I did try Capitol One, and they did deny me. Seriously, my credit sucks. My husband on the other hand, his is fairly decent, but we were told not to apply for any credit for about 1 month because we just sold our house and that sell needs to reflect on his credit report because when you get a big loan, such as a mortgage, your score actually goes down for a bit until you can prove yourself. So therefore, I will not be applying for credit until his score goes up, but my question is, how far up does that score need to be?

Nice to meet you as well Mousecrazy. Yes, this board is very awesome. Lots of details. I will definately be here often. Thanks for the post.

Hello everyone! I have been checking this site out for a while. It's great! Everyone seems so friendly. And wow, you all are doing so well. Anyway, my story is the same as any other. Been overweight since I was 9 and well, I have tried many different diets from a-z. I am just not comfortable with this body anymore and I am tired of not being about to buy really cheap cute clothes. Have you ever noticed, I am sure you have, that when you have to buy plus size clothing, they tack on an extra $2-5. Thats insane. Well, here is the kicker in all of this...I actually started this process about 2-3 years ago, my brain is kinda foggy, don't remember for sure. I was going to gave the Gastric Bypass done, but the night before surgery, I chickened out. Something just didn't seem right. Maybe it was God telling me something, but never the less, I listened. So presently, I am starting this process over. I have not seen the doc I have chosen yet, but he was my chosen doc when I was going to have the bypass... He is doc Jorge Rincon from San Antonio, Texas. I like him, he tells it like it is. I will probably be seeing him in May and since I am self-pay, I should be able to have the surgery in May as well. In a nut shell, thats it. I am currently about 240 lbs. give or take a few and, 5'6" tall. I would like to set my goal weight at 140. I am excited to get started and can't wait.

Nice to meet you Kat, Wanabethin, & Doula Lea. Wow, there are a lot of people from Texas. Thats great though, just that many more people to help you through the tough times. Kat, congrats on the 87 pound loss. Wanabethin, good luck with your surgery tomorrow, can't wait to hear bout your progress. Doula Lea, also congrats on your 33 pound loss. You all are doing well and I cannot wait to join ya!

:help: Hello...I have a question about Nationwide Insurance. My friend is wanting to have the procedure done and does not know if her insurance---Nationwide covers? Does anyone know anything about this plan? If you do, it would be of great help so I can let her know. Thanks.
-
Thanks FaithMD, I will have her do that. I just hope she can get it done, I think she will be so much happier.
-
Wow Wonderwoman, you are doing awesome with your band. Congrats!!! :clap2: and thanks for the welcome. I am sure I will be making many friends on this board.

Thanks MEW for the info. She does not currently have a company insurance booklet, and for some odd reason, they do not offer one either. But, I will tell her to call customer service on her card and ask, or I will call them for her.
