Good luck to all the May 2nd bandsters, and if I missed any from today, I hope all went well. You all are in my prayers. I was also wondering if you all could keep my oldest daughter (Darien) in your prayers. She has started having weight issues and she will be turning 10 tomorrow. She is so hard on herself about it, but I was about her age when I started gaining my weight. She is about 30 lbs. over what she should be. She is in a tumbling and trampoline class and does great and was on a tumbling and trampoline team last year, it was awesome. But, her coach said that she will not be able to get back onto team until she gets her weight under control, so again, please put her in your prayers that we get her back to where she needs to be, she really misses team bad. Okay, thanks for listening.

This is what I would like to be able to do once I lose this other person!

Dance again, it wears me out right now. Play with my children till I can't play anymore. Scuba Dive. Water Ski. Vollyball. Look cute in clothes. Be more outgoing and confident. Be comfortable with this body to show it off a little. Have a glamour shots session. Lay out on the boat in a bikini while cruising the lake. Hiking. And so much more that I cannot think of at the moment.

Oh, very soon. Let us know how everything goes once you are up and feeling better. Good Luck! :clap2:

Six days 'til sugery....
mannamay replied to Bullwinkle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bullwinkle---What did your doc say about the smoking issue? Mine told me that if I did't quit, he would not do the surgery...how do you deal with that? I am trying to quit myself, not just for the surgery, but the last couple of days have been so hard. I find myself saying once I had one, blow the rest of the day and have another. Its the same with the dieting. Its all crazy! -
I agree, its cute. My daughter had a cow when we first cut her hair too. I was to the middle of her back and then cut to her jaw line. But now, she loves it short, although I like it longer, she's tomboyish anyway. Tell her its cool and the next thing she will notice is a lot of her friends getting their hair cut too. Also, tell her its hair, it will grow back...lol. They think the world is coming to an end on something that seems aweful for a couple months and then notice the world is growing hair like she is. Its funny how they act. I have two girls, very dramatic, its always a theatricle experience around here.

Six days 'til sugery....
mannamay replied to Bullwinkle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Bullwinkle--- We all have those same thoughts and I agree with Harley Girl. There are several diets out there we can lose on, with me it was the Atkins. But, when I started adding my carbs back in, here came to weight too. Plus, I will tell you this, two years ago, I almost had Gastric Bypass. I was approved for surgery by my insurance and everything was good to go...until...the night before surgery, I was so emotional and could not stop crying. I decided to not do it, I felt like something was going to happen. I decided that I would try to get the weight off on my own, and had a few successes, but here comes the weight again. Anyone can lose weight, but how many people can keep it off. The statistics show not many at all. I will be rooting for you that you make the best decision. Either way, you need to be comfortable with your decision. Good luck to you. -
Protein Drinks...good and bad
mannamay replied to kacee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found the ESA or EAS brand can't remember what order they go in, at Wal-Mart to be pretty good. They come in Vanilla or Chocolate. They are easy to get down and not chaulky at all. I personally am going to be sticking to the Herbalife shakes. Thats the shake I used to get down from 266 to 247. They are great and come in like 6 different flavors. French Vanilla, Dutch Chocolate, Wild Berry, Pina Coloda, Tropical Fruit, & Cookies N Cream. I had my sister try a couple of them and she really likes the Cookies one. I personally like the Wild Berry and French Vanilla. Now, you can only get them thru a distributor or Ebay that I have found. I liked them so much I started selling them. As of right now, I am taking a break from selling them, but if you want more information, send me a private message and I will get back to you. I don't like to push the fact that I am selling them on here because people like different things, this is just what works for me and may not work for you. Some people say they suck. Which is cool, to each is own. I will tell you this too, usually you will find them cheaper on Ebay and its probably stupid of my saying that, but just check it out. Hope this helps and take care. -
Glad to hear you are doing well. I will be joining ya soon. Take it easy!

Hiya Everyone--- Here's an update: Doc's office called on Wednesday and told me today's appointment would have to be rescheduled for another day, so I was bummed. I told them I would have to get back to them about it. In the meantime, they called back and said they had an opening on Thursday and would I like to take it? HELLO?!?! Of course...so I went yesterday and this is the scoop. I have to start my pre-op diet on Monday April 30th for two weeks. High Protein, low-carb as much as possible. This mainly to help shrink the liver which I expected. Then, on the day before my surgery, I have to drink nothing but Clear liquids all day and clean out my bowels with Magnesium of Citrate. Oh YEA! Its going to stink at my home...lol. Anyway, here is the biggest obstacle I am going to face and I need to do it for all the many and right reasons....I have to quit smoking or the doc will not operate. I am not really upset that I have to quit smoking because I have been wanting to for a while, but I am so weak in that area, it has been really hard and I know I need to find something to keep my mind off the smoking thing. Maybe start doing puzzels when I feel the urge or take a walk. What is really cool is my mom and husband are going to quit with me, so there is a lot more support by them doing that. We can all get healthy, which is awesome. My dietician said that the Herbalife shakes will be fine after the surgery, well, after my clear liquids, I can continue the Herbalife. Thats nice because I like the way they taste and they do fill me up. Starting this pre-op diet and quitting smoking is a lot to handle all at once. Please pray that I make it thru this. I don't have doubts about me doing this, I just wonder what life is going to be like not smoking and not eating the way I used to. It kinda scares me because what is life all about not smoking or eating those big Thanks Giving dinners????? I have lived my life around my habit and now I have to cut off that old life at the hip bone. So, I do ask for everyone's support with this please. Oh, by the way, the May 14th surgery date is tenative at this point. The docs office still has to get my Psych report and lab report to make that date official. I will have those two things done by next week, so that date should be okay unless something out of my control happens. Anyway, I will let you know how my Psych visit goes and if my labs were okay later. Thanks for reading my vents.

Hiya Edie and Perry. Yes Edie, I am very excited, my nerves are a little better than they were earlier. Don't know why I get that way. Anyway, The stares going down the street, I guess thats okay, don't know yet, as of right now, I get the old men starring at me that look like they are about 1 cheeseburger away from a heart attack...EWWW, LOL! We will see how that changes when I am 100 lbs. lighter. Perry, hey, yes I will let you know the progress. As far as I know, all's I have to do is (1) Psych Consult and (1) Nutritional Consult. I will find out for sure Friday. I want to know how your consult goes as well. After my appointment, I will post information from the visit to keep everyone posted. Thanks!

Hi Chubbola--- I don't know what to say on the whole insurance thing, but what I am going to say is whoo hoo on the smoking. You seem to be doing great, how did you quit because I am only a day or so from quitting myself. Was it hard and what did you do?

Future Bandster of Dr. Spivak
mannamay replied to kacee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Kacee, welcome and give us updates on your progress! -
I am not banded yet, but in the past with constipation, I have found that Milk of Magnesia works great or Magnesium of Citrate works great too. Both get me going in a matter of 1-2 hours after taking it and its great because both are liquids. The Milk of Magnesia is a little chaulky, but only get it in the cherry flavor, because otherwise its nasty. If you are going to drink the Magnesium of Citrate, it comes in Lemon or Cherry, they are both nasty to get down, but work the best. Good luck to ya!

Hello! Wow, this is a powerful topic. I am days away from my medical consult and I am getting seriously nervous. I am not supposed to though because I have this thing where I am not supposed to be weak and have put my gaurd up. I am sure I will get through this process, but for now, OMG.
