What's the 1st fill spouse to feel like?
Luka Beth replied to jea(n__n)ette's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you gotten any better? How much did you get on your first fill? Was it done under flouroscopy or blind? Did you have to drink Water before you left the office? Sent from my SM-G900T3 using the BariatricPal App -
So I got a fill about 8 weeks ago after a complete unfill back in May. I'm only at 4.5 in a 14cc band. I'm scheduled to go next week for another fill, because I haven't had that much restriction and I've been able to eat everything I want. This past Friday, I started to notice restriction slightly, and it has steadily increased until yesterday I actually had a PB episode. It's not my TOM. I didn't eat dinner last night, and today Ive had Water and chicken unjury. Should I be concerned about the suddeness of this? Yes, my allergies have been going wonky but I get shots and they help, and I've been taking suphedrine to try to dry up the drainage. And yes there is some batiatric pressure going on with a front trying to come through I'm debating about canceling my appt next week and rescheduling for October. Any thoughts? Should I be worried or should I ride it out and see what happens?
-
Thanks. It's only been 2.5 years and I'm still learning with this. I've been drinking as much water as I can, but I think it's my allergies and the barometric pressure. When I take the suphedrine, I get a window that I can eat in.

Wary that I'll go nuts and eat everything and gain 50 lbs in the next two months. Also, I don't know of my new insurance will cover bariatric services so that I can get fills going forward. Just need some advice to stay sane.
-
Just A quick update. I've regained 26lbs in 6 weeks. However, part is that was due to my gum closing and moving and not reopening so lack of exercise is a big co tributing factor. How to get a fill and back to the gym by the end of the month.

Unfill BC my band closed off entirely and I want able to eat or drink for 4 days. Lost 16 lbs from dehydration. Hope to start getting fills again in June, pending that my stomach heals and insurance covers them.

anyone get diarrhea after fluid removal?
Luka Beth replied to SashaWLS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I add a complete unfill yesterday and ive had liquid stools since then... But I haven't eaten solids yet. But I do have tummy gurgling. -
So when you eat, and you are having one of those days where you PB most of what you eat... How do you account for the calories? MFP doesn't have the "I are this much but only retained this much" feature.
-
I don't have them very often... Usually the week before my period my restriction increases and I have episodes. Plus the weather and a lot of allergy sinus drainage exacerbated everything.
-
I've been using MFP to keep me on track since an unfill and gain. But yesterday nothing stayed down, but last night I was able to get powerade, water, and beef broth down so I'm feeling much better. But yes, I was worried about not getting any calories.

It seems the past two weeks I've been able to eat alot more. I don't have any issues with pain, acid reflux, or anything else. I still have restriction--I've been able to drink more Water, I've had less PB episodes. My band tends to be influenced by hormones, weather, etc. And maybe the weather changes to fall are causing this feeling. Do you pros think that I should have any reason for concern? My last adjustment was November 2013, and I just saw my surgeon 2 weeks ago for my 1.5 year checkup. Other than ordering a nutritional panel for blood work, he said see you in 6 months. I just have irrational fear of slippage, erosion, etc.

I can buy Unjury protein powder from my surgeons office, but I think it's best to buy directly from the source.

Having the Lap Band when your broke.. help?
Luka Beth replied to kellyannrose143's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There are alot of low fat high protein options that are not find to break the wallet. Just don't let this derail you. Make healthy choices. As stated, choose less expensive meats and cook in a crock pot. Refried beans, lentils, peanut butter, nuts, dried beans, tuna, and Greek yogurt are all great options. Shop Aldi or lower priced stores, check sale/clearance bins, buy meat that is marled down and then freeze to cook later. Buy some items in bulk. Buy a roaster chicken instead of a precut chicken. You can make multiple meals from this. Look online for tools and tips. good luck. -
I use the Chicken Unjury. You can drink as broth or use in recipes-- just watch the temperature BC it will clump of too hot. But it's great mixed into green yogurt as a veggie dip, and I use it in chicken salad.

Sudden ability to eat more... A lot more
Luka Beth replied to Luka Beth's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So I did end up getting a small 1cc unfill two weeks ago. I had a severe upper resp infection that required antibiotics and prednisone to get over. Prior to that, I hadn't been able to eat solid food, sleep due to constant vomiting ever time I laid down, and inability to breath. Now I can eat like a racehorse. Scheduled an appt for 11/19 for a hopefully fill to get some restriction back. -
In 1.5 years post op and about halfway to goal. I've noticed that foods I used to love and were eating recently stopped tasting the same. Had anyone else noticed a change in their taste? Is this part of the journey?

Sudden ability to eat more... A lot more

So I don't know why I was worried. Ive had perfect restriction the past two days... Not tight, not loose...just there. No uncontrolled eating. No grazing. Probably the weather changes. -

Thanks for the advice. I am at 6.5cc in a 10cc band. I do my best to work it with compliance, but I usually get a stop signal from the band...usually a burp. I did try the pouch test a few weeks ago and failed miserable...but maybe I should give it another shot. Thanks again! I'll let you know if anything changes! -
Just stay hydrated and try to get down protien shakes. My band gets so tight that I can actually feel it tighten up. I try to protien load in the days before my period, then I just ride it out. Sip slowly. Some say hot tea. Some say cold liquids. That doesn't do anything for me. I just survive it. Good luck.

Don't be nervous. You've done your research. You've prepared for post op. You made this decision to improve your health and life. No fear. Embrace it!

3 weeks in and still battling "wanting" not "needing". HELP!
Luka Beth replied to thesooz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This will be a lifelong battle... We always want what we shouldn't and not what we need. I struggle with this every single day. Sometimes I win... Sometimes that ice cream does. Good luck... But don't worry... You aren't perfect... So if you do indulge on occasion, it's not the end of the world. -
Sorry.. Stupid autocorrect. Should be UNJURY.
-
I've been using nothing but Injury since preop over 1.5 years ago. I won't use anything else.
-
Your doctor should have recommended that you test shakes before so that you could find ones you like. I always recommend Unjury. Always. They offer a sample pack through their website and they have chicken broth protien powder which is a life saver when youth can't drink another sweet shake. Good luck. Feel better.
