Where did you notice the loss first?
Luka Beth replied to deleteme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Face neck shoulders and wrists and hands. I'm happy my girls are hanging in there...if anything boobs are getting bigger. Weird. -
I took bcp up until the week before surgery when i had my period...no bcp for two months post surgery due to clotting factor per my surgeon. alot of surgeons forget to mention it.

Foods that I'm loving right now...
Luka Beth replied to endingyoyo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jimmy dean egg white breakfast sandwiches ( with blessing of my nutritionist). Have one every morning for breakfast. Love the pita crackers and flat bread crackers from keebler with homemade chicken salad for lunches. Zucchini/quinoa casserole with the plethora of fresh seasonal veggies. Marinated talapia filets from sams club. Loving the healthy food...esp when i know it leads to weight loss! -
If you have to cheat, cheat with lean protien. Instead of donuts, east some plain grilled chicken or some plain greek yogurt. Instead of that subway sandwich, eat a string cheese and some Turkey pepperoni. Eat a boiled egg. Anything except for empty calorie carbs. Or have another shake. You can't go wrong with another shake. The most important part is to get into ketosis so that you can burn the fat off your liver. You should hit ketosis by day three once you get in it, and as long as you stay on plan, you will stay in it through your surgery date. Also, whenever you Get hungry, drink a bottle of Water. If you are still hungry then eat. Thirst masks itself as hunger.good luck.

Sorry about your first fill experience. I had two sticks on my first fill bc the surgeon glanced the needle of the side if the port, and then he had to pull out the ultrasound to find it. At least you are still positive! Don't let this discourage you. My second fill went off perfectly. It can only get better! Good luck!

My surgeon told me the following...take a stool softener daily...if you need to, add powdered fiber, and only use miralax as a last resort.

Going for fill #3 tomorrow. Also 4 month bandiversary. I think I'm pretty close to finding my green zone. Last fill was only.5 cc to bring me to 5.5. I've had some good restriction but still hungry at the 3.5 hour mark. Hope this one makes me green!

The marks on my stoamch are healing and have some bumps.
Luka Beth replied to sprinkle715's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are probably feeling the fluid pocket that forms under these type of incisions. The will go away with time. My primary Doctor felt them at 8 weeks out and said they would go away on their own...and they did. As long as you dont see oozing, rednes, or signs of infection you should be fine. -
Your six months will fly by. Use this time to educate yourself about the band, eating better, and preparing for the changes you will be making. My insurance and surgeon required six months of WEEKLY classes that covered everything from nutrition, to exercise, to the long term changes you have to make to be successful. If you missed a class you had to make it up and all had to be completed before you could even think of being put on the surgery schedule. I wanted to jump into my new life, too, but am happy that i had the time to prepare for all of the changes. I also lost 40 lbs before i even started my Preop diet, and lost another 16 before my surgery date. The time will fly by. You can do this.

Where is the port, exactly?
Luka Beth replied to aviva1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My port is six inches south of my big incision and sits on my waist next to my belly button. Every surgeon has their own special place. This is my surgeons preferred spot for all of his banders. -
I have eaten a lot of corn post OP and not had an issue...corn on the cob, canned corn, and the pop corner chips. I don't eat popcorn. Not that i can't, i just don't like it.

I have a jimmy dean egg white sandwich monday thru friday, and on weekends i make an unjury iced mocha and grits. I just make sure i take small bites and chew. My nutritionist said the sandwiches were a good choice for low calorie and high protien.
-
I was on preop for both the week before and for my period. The cravings were not to bad. Less than i expected. I satisfied chocolate cravings with chocolate shakes or with sf pudding with added unjury protien powder. I also would have unjury chix protien for the salt factor.

How do your other doctors feel about you tting the lapband?
Luka Beth replied to clg61753's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I actually had already decided to go forward with my surgery before i find my pcp. I had to have a physician on file and when i met with her the first time, i told her my goal and asked if she would be supportive of it. She wad on board immediately, and had been a wonderful resource. She was already acquainted with my surgeon, and has two other bariatric patients...one with a sleeve, the other with RNY. I was very lucky to find her to To support me on this journey. Having a supportive pcp is instrumental for success. -
Every surgeon is different. Mine says to eat like normal for meals but nothing except liquids for two hours prior, and all liquids the remainder of the day. Return to mushies next day and regular food the day after that.
-
Some docs do put in Fluid when they area installed. Mine came with 3cc. However, since you don't say how far postop you are, its hard to tell why you might think you have stretched your pouch. If you are still less than 6 weeks postop, the shoulder pain is still gas from surgery. It can still flare up even 6-8 weeks out. If you think you are stretched BC you can eat more than you think you should you need to look at what you are eating...if its sliders, then of course you can eat more than you should.

Getting stuck hurts. That's how you know.

Fyi.. Unjury protein
Luka Beth replied to ShantelleElaine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unjury comes in containers, not bags. And its the best protien on the market. Its the only one i trust, and its the only one i will use. -
Bloated and Very Uncomfortable
Luka Beth replied to Joy332's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Post surgery you can develop intolerance to dairy. Also if you are putting things in the blender this can pump them full of air making you feel bloated and gassy. Try not blending things first. If that doesn't work try switching out to Silk instead of milk for about a week and maybe not eat cream soup...just a thought. -
Can i take metformin????
Luka Beth replied to Lollicatt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a version that is not extended release that is crushable. If you are afrsid of it getting stuck see if the doctor can change the Rx. -
Unjury has a good chicken protein. Otherwise use Swanson but cook with a mir poix mix and then strain out.mir poix is onion carrots and celery to add flavor.
-
I totally understand. I got my second fill on Friday...only.5cc to bring me to 5.5 in my 10cc bands...but since then i have restriction! I'm so excited! I'm looking forward to hopefully losing sine weight now!

Luka Beth replied to LadyDiva618's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
