size 28-32 available
Luka Beth replied to Luka Beth's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi Carol, I actually posted them to Craig's list and someone contacted me 10 minutes later to claim them. I wasn't looking for money I just wanted to get them out of the house. Another option is to donate them to one of the abused women shelters. The women there usually show up with only the clothes on their backs And finding larger sizes can be impossible. I was contacted by one right after someone claimed them and I wished I had thought to donate them there again. Good luck! -
Im in Baltimore and have two friends and we are all Banders looking for more support than what we get through our local surgeons office. Would love to be part of a bigger support system.

When does it get better?

Fake it till you make it. That's all you can do. -
A year in... And I haven't told a single person outside of my boyfriend and best friend. And that's what I wanted. Im not lying when I say that I lost weight with less calories and more exercise. You aren't obligated to tell anyone you don't want. It's your body... Your health... And your life.

Any cookies are sliders. Along with chips. And candy. Sigh. But then again I think that salad can be a slider... Along with soup. So it's really just staying away from the bad ones and sticking with the good ones is you need them.

I've never had port pain from being constipated or gassy... but maybe it depends on where your port is located?

How much? How long?

My surgeon adheres to the two year rule.... You should lose 50-60% of your goal in year one and the rest by end of year two. Of course some lose faster and some lose slower. I won't reach 50% by wed for my one year bandiversary. But I plan to get as close as I can to goal n year 2. It took 9 months to get my restriction to where I was losing. Good luck. -
I've had issues the past year with this. Ive found that it usually happens when I dont drink my water. Ive found that the small 12 oz bottles of Powerade mixed with a double dose of benefiber or a single dose of miralax along with alot of water will help things along.

The chick fila tortilla soup is seasonal and will be gone soon. The grilled chicken nuggets have been on the menu for a long time... And you can get them in 8 and 12pcs. And in the kids meal.

Back to Work Monday - Keeping WLS Private

I have had my band for a year next week and not a single person I work with knows that I have it. How have I hidden it? I didn't tell ANYONE at work.. not even my friends. I told everyone that I had my gallbladder removed. How do I explain weightloss? They see me eating healthier, exercising more, and making better choices for my Snacks, etc. I'm so glad that I decided to keep this a secret. I have avoided the questions, the looks, the whispers, and the scrutiny. Your decision to tell people is up to you... And it's your perrogative to lie about your personal health if questioned. If a coworker asks you, it is a violation of HIPPA. Remember that before you share because you think you "have" to be honest. you aren't required to share anything. -
I'm changing jobs and can't find any info about this. Is anyone informed if Carefirst open access HMO will cover adjustments ? I'm a year out and still in the losing phase so I may need some future adjustments although I've been green since november 2013. Thanks. Nervous enough changing jobs and I dont want anyone at my new job to know about my surgery. Thanks!!

I should probably specify that I'm in Maryland and it's starred out but it should say. H.M.O. -
Stupid question.. Is the person doing your fills using the right equipment...ie: a noncoring needle? If not, your port may have a leak.

I use the generic uncoated Tylenol tablets and I crush them. If I'm in a pinch I'll use a capsule and break in half.. I'm afraid of large pills since getting into the green.

None of my coworkers know about my band so in these situations I tick with soup or a small appetizer. If they comment that it's not alot I blame it on a late meal earlier. It's been a year and they have yet to figure it out. -
My surgeon had me out for 17 days post op and I sit at a computer all day.... But it was more a matter of scheduling the follow up. However he requires 2 weeks... And my employer wouldn't let me come back until I was released by the surgeon... So it was a catch 22.

I have one cup of coffee every day mixed with my protein shake. I need the boost to get through the morning. .. however I did give up caffiene about 3 months prior to surgery and didn't drink any caffeine until about 4 months post op.

Since I hit the green in november I can't gulp water any more. I have to sip sip sip. When I forget I end up having to pb it back out.

It's not always cold weather.... But barometric pressure changes. I get really tight when there are massive weather shifts so I totally understand. I think I'm in the green but during aunt flow and weather changes I get major restriction.... And the last few days I've been dealing with both.... To the point I thought I needed an unfill but then weather changes again and I was fine. Just be aware of your band. Everyone is different and you will learn things that impact you differently.
-
It really depends on your body. Stick with liquid and mushies for the next 4 days or so. That's what I would recommend. When you do add solids back make sure to keep portions small and make sure protein is moist

Learn a hobby. I taught myself to knit. You cant eat mindlessly if your hands... Both hands .... are occupied. I also make beaded jewelry. Takes alot of control and concentration. So you occupy your hands and keep food out of your thoughts. Good luck.

The rule of thumb is to follow your own surgeons rules. Even if they are different than everyone else's surgeons rules for a fill. Mine is liquid for the reminder is the day after the fill ( which includes cream soup) then 1 day of mushies then resume regular food. However after my last fill it took longer to get regular food to go down without a pb episode so I did mushies for about 4 days BC I got stuck a lot at first. Once the swelling cleared out I was able to eat regular food again.

I'm super restricted right now BC of aunt flow and never ending weather systems with fluctuating barometric pressure. I go Wednesday for my followup with my surgeon. I'm debating about a small unfill. I will see what he recommends during my appt. Thanks.
