When I lay on my back I deff feel my port I'm hoping that's just bc I'm still a little swollen and not going to need to be re hidden later on.

People notice portion size...what do you tell them?
3mommy replied to MissE44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also told only hubby, parents and my sis knows bc my mom told her. I think alot of people look at it negatively and I rather people see the work I'm doing with the band to lose weight and not think its all the band. -
I have my gallbladder out and since then alot of foods upset my stomach if I eat them I have to RUN to the bathroom. I am 10 days post op and while I have not been eating the foods that normally upset me. I am eating alot of protein and all mushy. I have been having this problem the last 2 days with needing to run to the bathroom. Is this normal? Could it be bc of my gallbladder and not the band or maybe a combo of both?

My doc said to avoid fruits in the first 4 weeks after surgery and then after I can have berries. I know fruit can be high in sugar I get why only berries but why can't I have berries now? I'm dying for a smoothie from tropical smoothie and I can add weigh and get sugar free. I can't stand these protein shakes anymore and while I can eat mushie foods I just really want something refreshing like that. I'm 7 days post op.

Newly banded and feeling a bit alone in the world...
3mommy replied to deedee81's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I feel the same way as you. I haven't told anyone with the exception of my parents and my hubby. My mom told my sis without asking me. I have also struggled with weight putting it on when I was 6 and struggling ever since. I also always say how I wish I looked like what I did in my teens. I finally lost a lot of weight when I was 16 and lost it the unhealthy way by use of laxatives. I got down to 130 and kept it off until I got preg at 19 with my first I just kept putting on weight after him and despite diet and exercise I could never get on track. After my 3rd child which I gave birth in oct 2012 I weighed my worst 240. I couldn't get under that number and decided enough was enough. Despite my husbands negative reaction and views of the lapband I decided this wasn't for him but for me and I'm doing this. I am 8 days post op and already at 223. It feels good to finally see the scale move. I am soooo excited to be healed get my first fill and really jump start this weight loss. Good luck to you and this forum is great for support and questions. -
I know we can't drink while eating and we have too wait 30 min after, but if we eat soup with a protein In it would that have the same effect as pushing the food down and making you eat more?
-
I haven't seen those, I have to check them out. I had trader joes black bean soup it's liquidy like a broth but with a bean spice flavor. Once I'm off mushy foods I'm going to make it with some real beans chicken some veggies and sour cream. A nice yummy protein filled meal.

REASON FOR THE POST DIET

I'm not allowed straws either. I can handle fluids but small sips at a time. I used to be able to down a bottle of water or drink a 64oz water bottles in 4.5 hours. Now a bottle of water takes me forever to finish. I am handing food well still on mushies but I haven't had a problem with anything. I just can't eat a lot. Tomorrow i will be 7 days post op

4 days post op and I keep getting this weird hiccuping/burping sensation and it hurts my back and my tummy a little is this normal? It happens randomly throughout the day and isn't constant.
-
It's soooo hard I'm not going to lie. You will have days where your like ok this is easy I can do it and days where it sucks. I had 2 weeks clear liquids and the first 3-4 days were the worst. I would rec drinking your shakes as much as you can and having jello puddings and ice pops handy. I occasionally got tropical smoothie smoothies with extra weigh added bc eventually the protein drinks were killing me. I don't know if that was technically allowed bc it has fruit in it. I still lost 12lbs on the preop diet. Good luck.

Still having some gas pains which is really annoying but it's getting better. My incisions are getting itchy so I'm assuming all is healing good except one incision which is still bleeding red blood a little bit. It's been bleeding since hospital I guess glue didn't close it so good. I am tolerating mushy foods great. Can't believe how little food makes me full. I'm still trying to learn when to take that last bite and not over do it. I'm surprised by how liquid like water are harder for me to get down without taking slow sips. I used to gulp down cups of water now it hurts if I take too big a sip. So I take my tiny sips. I have lost 5.6lbs since surgey as of yesterday. Which makes total weight loss since preop diet 18lbs. Which now puts me at 224lbs. Soooo close to be under 200lbs. I can't wait. I know I still have healing to do and not to expect too much as far as weight loss goes in these few months but so far soooo good. ???

Post-Op Liquid Diet Timeline
3mommy replied to AngelineB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc puts his patients right on puréed foods. I was given scrambled eggs the morning after my surgery in the hospital after I had the X-ray thing that showed that my band was in place and I could swallow things easily. The first few days I couldn't handle much food like 2-3 bites, but 6 days post op I'm staring to be able to eat a little more and I'm doing fine. -
It's official!! I'm ba-ba-banded!! :)
3mommy replied to Amyzing's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats!!!! I was banded july 31st. I had little to no gas after surgery but the days after it started up a bit more. I still have it now 6 days post op even though its getting a bit better. -
I was banded at 8:15am. Doing ok. Hardly any gas, just alot of soreness and nausea and really sleepy. i can't believe I have a band.
-
Day 3 of post op my stomache is sooo swollen I look like I have a pregnant belly and I'm pretty sure I can feel the band when I touch it. Is this normal?
-
Yeh I can feel something hard I wasn't sure what that was. It's only if I'm In a certain position
-
I was surprised also but I am tolerating it. I can't eat alot just teeny tiny bits of puréed food and I've been drinking water all day.
-
I'm feeling pretty good just exhausted, it's no joke when they say they make you walk every 2 hours even at night. I am having some gas pains around my tummy and I am very sore. I was able to drink fine this morn and I ate some puréed chicken and green beans for lunch. It was 2oz of meat and 1/2 cup veggies and I could barely get halfway through. Not drinking with my meal was a tough adjustment. I kept instinctively reaching for the cup lol. I am soooooo happy I made this decision. It still seems so unreal.

I am now In so much pain. I can't move out of my bed
