  1. After losing 100 pounds in 2 years with the band, I had a lodging situation where they drained some of the Fluid to loosen it up. I didn't chew something good enough. I waited 2 months too get it filled again and in the meantime gained back 15 pounds.(Not Happy) But during this time I also quit smoking and this gain was over the holiday's which isn't the easiest time of year. I went in Monday and got filled almost to where I was before my lodging issue and it seemed a little tighter. Maybe I just needed to get used to it being that snug again. The first day started out with Soups and liquids and the first night I had very bad heartburn through the night. Second day I had yogurt for Breakfast and Soup for lunch. For dinner I tried a solid and cut up some of our Christmas ham into tiny pieces. Went down fine with no issues. Overnight again I had very bad heartburn. It woke me up every hour coughing and burning. I don't want to have to go through a drain again but I will definitely ask for meds for the acid reflux. I just wanted to say that I've had success and lost 100 pounds. I have another 40 to go to reach my goal.

Seem to have hit a snag

Just following up...I had 0.7cc removed initially from the lodging issue I had. They put back 0.7cc which is where I had the heartburn and reflux issues. I went back and they removed 0.6 cc and that was much better. When they checked me on the scope the Fluid was barely getting through. Yikes!! I ended up losing 10 pounds in 2 days. Now I'm back on track. Got me back in control. No longer have the acid issues.

Sudden tightness 3 weeks post fill

If you have a cold being dehydrated can tighten it up too. Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids...obviously slowly if it's not going through as easy.

    Rough night

I had my surgery back on December 11th and I am down 67 pounds!! Things were going good till last night... I had a fill done back in late June. Since that fill things have been more challenging to eat than normal. On my last visit I didn't get a fill but didn't have any removed either as I figured I could ride it out and just be more cautious with what I'm eating and making sure I chew it well. Last night I was at a baseball game and I had a hot dog and was taking my time with it. Well a piece must not have been chewed good enough and about half way through I felt that tight feel in my chest and ran to the bathroom. Let the regurge begin!! Usually it passes after about a half hour but this went on for about 4 hours even after I left the game and drove home. By the time I got home, I was exhausted and quite irritated because I spent more time in the bathroom than I did enjoying the game. This morning, I woke up and took a sip of Water and could barely get it down without going into a hick up spasm. Needless to say I didn't eat Breakfast. For lunch I had tomato Soup with some crackers. Again..I can barely get it to stay down. I'm just wondering if I irritated things last night so bad that there is swelling and now things are tighter than normal. Any thoughts?

ON MY WAY TO THE HOSPITAL

It's normal to be nervous...your starting a journey to a new life!! It will take some getting used to especially the first month. My only suggestion is to to listen to your doctor and all will be fine. Good Luck!!
  7. This is my first time posting on here..I had my surgery on December 11th. I started my journey at 417 pounds. The surgery itself went very well. I spent the night in the hospital and went home the next day. I had minimal challenges after the surgery itself. I did the liquid diet for a week, then the blended food, etc. My only difficulty that I have is first thing in the morning I have a hard time drinking Water when I first wake up. Having a C-PAP machine I tend to be quite parched when I wake up. I was told that there is a build up of mucus and it's usually best to drink warm liquid first thing in the morning to break that up. I'm usually not a warm liquid drinker but it's helped. Since the surgery I've had 2 fills. The first fill was challenging in the first week but after that I was eating normally but my intake was a lot less. When I got my second fill last week I've noticed it to be more challenging to eat. I've had more foods getting stuck than in the past. I've learned that I have to make sure I really cut my food smaller. (especially steak) I've been able to tolerate a soda from time to time. I pour it in a cup and stir out the carbonation and I've had no issues with it. I know that I should avoid it not only because of the carbonation but for the sugar as well. Once in a while I've just gotta have one. I'm tolerating alcohol pretty well. I haven't had a beer yet but I've been doing mixed drinks and I haven't had any issues. I haven't really exercised that much other than walking further in the parking lot to the store because I intentionally park further away. So far since I've started I've lost 42 pounds!!! My pants are falling off my butt...shirts are getting big. I'm loving it!! I want to lose another 10-15 pounds before mid May so I can go to Six Flags and hopefully fit on a roller coaster again and ride with my kids!! My goal weight is 260 and I know I can get down to that.
  8. Five Months and down 54 pounds!! 84 pounds to go!! Just had a fill done on Monday. God I hate this feeling...everything I drink or attempt to eat feels like it's sitting in my throat. I know it will pass in a few days....Staying motivated!! Went to Six Flags and I still wasn't able to fit on the roller coasters....Well maybe next year...all it did was piss me off and motivate me more.
  9. Thanks for the advice on the soda...I really don't do it that much. If I have 1 Diet Mtn Dew a week I'm lucky. I used to easily drink 4-5 cans a day before my banding. Now I mostly drink Crystal Lite or water. As far as the alcohol I'm a social drinker and that's far and few between. I'll usually drink Vodka Cranberry to avoid the carbonation. I used to drink whiskey and seven up but I don't want the carbonation...especially in public. Again I don't do it often. I really think I am going at a good pace and I'm sure once summer comes around I'll be more active outside and that will help even more.
