Formal Dinner dance Invite--what to wear?
Kimber-lilly replied to Kimber-lilly's topic in The Lounge
ok, here are three choices....drum roll, please--Penni, if they are too big, please resize for me! (thanks!) Number one: This is the wrong size, but the same dress (i need a 1 X) Can't copy the pix, so here is a link:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=63880&item=5374627382&rd=1 Here's number 2--kinda vintage-y looking--my mom thinks this might be "too stiff" and she may be right....but I like it. Its the coppery colored mesh dress on this page http://www.newport-news.com/shop/subcat_fp_nine.asp?gpcatID=2&pacatID=9&subcatID=5850&catID=5854 And number three from Spiegel.com :http://www.spiegel.com/shop/style.asp?style_id=11196627&index=0&nav_cat_id=227&gp_cat_id=284&category_id=312 Lemme know what you guys think! -
Formal Dinner dance Invite--what to wear?
Kimber-lilly replied to Kimber-lilly's topic in The Lounge
Oh! this is gonna be fun! I have to zip out for a bit, but when I get back I will post some pix of the "not acceptable" dresses and then some that I love but are too spendy. Formal here, for me anyway, is a tea length or slightly shorter dressy dress--like a cocktail formal. I don't know what I am talking about! -
Thanks, I found it, but there isn't anyone over there to chat with now.....

where is the chat room?

Formal Dinner dance Invite--what to wear?
Kimber-lilly replied to Kimber-lilly's topic in The Lounge
Thanks! I didn't come back here until now--usually get email notices that someone has responded to the thread, but I disabled it, so I thought Penni and I were just having a little chat! Thanks for the links. I feel as tho I have looked at every dress under the sun--and yes, I am still in plus size, specificallly 16W, for now. I think I found one on ebay--but then I think, well maybe I want something with a little color. Guys have it so easy..... I am tormenting my mother via email (she lives right down the road from me-) with email pix of the most horrendous/slutty/bad taste dresses I can find... Very fun! ha ha the first ones she would critique carefully, explaining why she thought it would be inappropriate, now she just writes back "NO!". I looked at some by Donna Ricco, too--I have a few of her dresses and they fit beautifully--but too spendy for a one night affair...... Maybe I should post pix of the top three choices and let you guys pic--of course I would have to post a pix of myself so you could determine which would highlight my mouse-burger brown hair just right--- I am going to bed! My husband is addicted to our Gamecube video games and my butt hurts from sitting here at this computer so long. First weight I lost was in my boobs and my "seat cushion". xoxo -

Wow. Amazing eye opening stories--finally cementing in my head that I am NOT the only one who feels the way I do. A huge relief. I have always been fat. I can remember as a little girl offers of "rewards" from my grandmother (I was her favorite, inspite of my size)--new clothes, anything if I would just lose some weight. I have a cousin who was/is overweight like me, and I remember that my Grampa took us to a movie one summer night, then to Big Boy's for dessert. I didn't order any, but my cousin did--one of those fab brownie and ice cream concoctions--and I remember wanting one on one hand, but relishing for the rest of the summer, the accolades and praise I got from both Grandparents for "resisting". I can remember eating an entire loaf of bread with butter by myself that summer, too. I have been banded since Sept. '04 and truly missed, I mean really GRIEVED over the loss of plowing thru huge quantities of food. I haven't identified specifically WHY I miss that, because I can't identify why I did it to begin with--all I know is that it felt GOOD. Of course, overeating now doesn't feel physically good at all.... I was thin for a short period of time, but abusing alcohol and myself at the same time....bad time for me looking back. It's like I traded the booze and the men for food....My sister doesn't over eat, but is a true blue high functioning alcoholic. My mother is sort of a binge eater. She was a widow with two little girls by the age of 28--she remarried when I was ten and I think most of our evening meals were take out/drive thru or grazing throughout the night. Tough habits to break! I don't physically feel hungry anymore (much) and often forget to eat because of this...if only I could get a handle on the emotional part of it.....

oooh, I might try that Christmas one--is it Christmas-y like a pine tree or like cinnamon/nutmeg?
-
I wear a perfume that my fave Gramma wore--it's Miss Dior--very crisp and clean scent and getting harder and harder to find! I also love Clinique "Happy".

First off, this may be a bit lengthy..... I am going to school to get my RN--I have been an LPN for 21 years, and working full time in addition to school.....Anyhoo--going right now to a school (community college) that is LOGISTIcally the best choice for me--not as much of a commute, etc. After this semester, I will have completed all pre-req's and the courses I am allowed to take that are required once I get into the program. This program is super duper competetive--I have a 3.68 GPA now, will probably go up to a 3.7 at semester's end. The criteria for acceptance into the program is this--GPA over 3.5 (good for me), resident of another county (bad for me) and residency of the state of Michigan (bad for me, I live in Wisconsin on the border of Mich and Wi). So, I have always known that I very well might NOT get in there, but I am trying anyway.... To preserve my sanity, I applied to another community college--it's 2 hours from my house--another rural CC--and I have submitted all my stuff. The dean of the program has been nicely emailing me about the status of my application and tonight said I need to complete one 1 credit computer class to fulfill all the requirements and be eligible for acceptance in fall 05. So, my conundrum, should I just proceed as I am...taking what I KNOW I need for the local CC and keep my GPA waaaay high,(thus putting ALL eggs in a basket and I might not get in) or should I take on one more class (I know, easy, but time consuming and I have a disabled husband and a 5 year old) and try for the other program--and there is no guarantee I will get in there, either! But it's a better shot, since it's based on GPA only. Just wondering what you guys think--I can't think about it anymore--makes my head hurt.

Help! I need a voice (or 2) of reason....
Kimber-lilly replied to Kimber-lilly's topic in The Lounge
Yes, I have looked into online--Excelsior college specifically--SUPER DOOPER expensive, tho. I feel like I am this close (can you see my hand--fingers very close together) to getting in one or the other of these community colleges........So, this morning, I went and registered for a computer class-it's online so I can do it at 4 in the morning in my pajamas, thank goodness! Then, I will be set and just will have to wait for those two acceptance letters to roll right to my mailbox! -
I don't have any of my clothes from when I was ever skinny--I remember the dress I wore to graduation from LPN school was a size 6-----ugh! Right now I have some XL, 18's and some 16 tops that I can't fit my fat arms into--

Help! I need a voice (or 2) of reason....
Kimber-lilly replied to Kimber-lilly's topic in The Lounge
Thanks for all your input, you guys... I went to bed after posting this and thought if I was a smidge better rested, it might give me some perspective..... So, today I am going over to the closer CC and register for a teeny computer class and just do it, as advised. That way, hopefully, I will have a choice of schools or at least a back up/plan B plan..... There IS a nursing shortage, but just not up here where I live! There are more than 500 applicants for the nursing program at the closest CC--the one where I go now--for SEVENTY spots. ugh. I don't know the stats for application for the other school, but I am thinking (maybe delusionally) that because there has been some communication with the dean--at least I am on her radar--that I have a good chance at that one--hence the emergency computer class! Thanks again for your input--I welcome any more any one else has, too! -
GROSSEST Pig Out Combo of Food
Kimber-lilly replied to I'llsucceed's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
raw hotdogs and soft butter. Together or sep. didn't matter. I used to live in Melbourne Fl and there is a chocolate factory there that makes the world's best chocolate covered (thick) potato chip. YUM! -
Just back from a week in Orlando and St Pete Beach with my DH and DS. Had a great time, still horrified by the way I look in the photos, but I look better than i did before my band, that is for sure. I had a few problems eating out all the time--can't eat shrimp no matter what I do! Found a great restaurant called the Melting Pot, which serves fondue--we had a ball there, cooking everything and the food is all cut up in tiny pieces, so it was easy to keep track of what I was eating. YUM! So, I was nervous to go and wondered if I could function as well outside of my home environment--it felt great to lay in the sun, walk on the beach, etc....We traipsed around Disney World in searing heat and I never felt like I was going to die (like I think I would have with my pre band self). Acutallly wore a pair of shorts! So, now we are back, it's MINUS 9 degrees here and I have a mountain of laundry to get done!

I don't LOOOOOVE that pix of me, but it's nice of the three of us, and having two nice looking men at my side always makes me look better! I will have to search thru the vacation pix and find one that I like of my mug and see what she can do!
-
Thanks for resizing the pix, Penni--I don't ever wanna take up the whole screen! We spent 4 days in Orlando--stayed off Disney property and I will caution you about going this time of the year--the traffic was HORRIBLE! took forever to get just a few miles, Disney world was PACKED--and we thought we were so smart by going 2 weeks before Easter--NOT! Bumper to Bumper everyday--especially 192 and I-4. St Pete was much more manageable--easy to get around and FUN! Fort DeSoto beach/park is wonderful, quiet and the beach is so gorgeous! We decided we will not return to Orlando again, but will only go to FLA and stay on the beach. Lesson learned.

sorry that pix is soooo big!
-
We really did have a nice time. St Pete is sooo nice--we walked all over the downtown and popped into a museum to see the Princess Diana exhibit--which was fab--I loved seeing her wedding dress up close (much prettier than in all those pix) and then they had a sep. room of many of her dresses--I love fashion and textiles/design, so I was in HEAVEN. DH and DS happily tagged along and didn't complain (much).. I was surprised by how much more energy I had to DO stuff--I still have a long way to go, but it sure was more fun than pre band vacations!

My momma calls me "kimber-lilly"--my name is Kimberly

:banana Does anyone else do this? I go to the mall (2+ hour drive), go to Lane Bryant, go directly to my "old" preband size, look for 5 minutes, realize what I am doing, and go down a size or two to find what fits! I don't know why I do it, but every store I went to yesterday--looked at all the 2X's first! THEN, I went to JJill--they don't sell plus size in the store--so I thought I would wing it and try an 18---TOO BIG! Tried a 16 and it was way too tight to be comfy! So, will try there again next month. Not to mention the idiot sales lady came right up to me and my HUSBAND and said "can I help you ladies find something?" I said, "um, I am not sure who you are talking to, since this is my husband"--she must have said it to us without looking at us because my husband would make the world's most unattractive woman! Crazy! So I had a couple of NSV"S yesterday--two sizes smaller at LB and fitting in to some generously cut "regular" clothes! Woohoo!

Yes! It's been a LOOOOONNNGGG time since I was even a small ember, much less SMOKIN! ha ha
