what is a "normal" amount of food?
Scrapmom3 replied to Scrapmom3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh ok. I'm supposed to go back in a month. I'm still having some pain in my tummy so maybe some of the problems is gastritis like he said -
Hi-I'm going to try to sum this up.....I was banded 2/14/12, I have lost 82 pounds and was doing pretty good. Three weeks ago I had issues where I couldn't eat or drink and it lasted for 2 weeks until I could get into my dr. I felt like food was stuck, a pork chop to be exact lol. I finally got in and the dr said there was food stuck and he deflated the band, the food passed, and he added more fluid. Prior to this incident I had my last fill in December and since then I can only eat maybe at most 1/4 cup of food for lunch and dinner. I can't eat anything for breakfast. I start my day with a cup of coffee or tea, then water. Around 9:00 I have a protein shake and can barely finish that. My list of food that I can tolerate is very limited. My diet pretty much consists of baked chicken breast and Chili from Wendys. I can't eat any other meat (besides chicken and occasionally ground beef). I can't eat fruits, veggies, breads, pasta, any type of "breakfast foods" even for dinner, I cant even tolerate the "slider" foods. So my question is..is this normal? Should I just suck it up and deal with it? I'm going to my dr again on Wednesday as I'm very concerned and it cant be healthy!? I don't want to be able to eat a lot but would love to be able to eat protein and veggies in one meal.

I don't know the band size or the amount guess I should have been more proactive I was happy that he deflated the band. Why isn't it a good thing?' -
I don't know why it happens but it does happen to me too.

Yes he removed all the fluid When I told hIm to take some out he said ok I will give you a vacation and deflate it. With my insurance I don't have many options and he is the best In the area but I'm just more money for him. He told me when he looked at the band that it was pretty open and dId not need an unfill I know my body! -

Well my Dr looked at the band and said it looked good So he wanted me to take medicine for a month for gastritis and come back. Wouldnt even give me 2 seconds to explain what was going on. He turned to walk out the door and I said oh no you need to take some out because Im way too tight. He finally agreed to do it and deflated the band and told me to be careful so I don't gaIn weight and to come back In a Month. So disappointed with him. -

Thank you all! I dont like being this tight and just feel blah. At first I thought I was Crazy and that's how its supposed to be. But yesterday for example...I had a cup of coffee at 8am and at 12 had lunch with my son. I ate one piece of orange chicken and it took me 10 minutes. It went down good but a few Minutes later the pain started and I couldn't eat or anything else the rest of the day so then I realsized it can't be normal. Can't wait to see my dr and hope he does something today . -

I voted for you. Good luck! -
I was on a 2 week liquid diet and it was very hard especially the first 3 days. I had to cook meals for my husband and 3 teenage sons too. I stayed busy and I kept telling myself that its very worth all the hunger and cramps and it was the last diet I would ever be on. With each day it did get easier. YOU can do this. Good Luck!

Hello- I had lapband surgery on 2/14/12. I have lost 70 pounds so far. I started out going to the gym 5 days a week and working out pretty hard and steady there. I loved it, my problem is I have 3 kids and 2 grandkids and pretty active with them and also work full time. The only time I would have to go to a gym is 4am or 9 pm and then I live about 30 minutes from the closest one. I just can't stay committed to work out at those times as I know it will be very difficult. So, I'm looking for suggestions to workout at home. I have a treadmill and looking to buy a Bowflex. Are there any suggestions for exercises to do at home besides videos? I'm looking more for strength training and toning. My biggest problem areas are underarms and thighs. Thanks for any and all suggestion. I am very uncoordinated so Richard Simmons (don't laugh) is the best exercise video for me. Although, I would love to try the P90X.

Thank you for all of the wonderful suggestions. I'm going to try the insanity workout and I'm going to buy the Zumba for the xbox to try those things.

I ordered PB2 last week from GNC because I couldn't find it in any store where I'm at. I can't wait to try it.

Hello all, I'm 13 months post op and my last adjustment was in December. I've had a really hard time eating and drinking since Monday. I feel fine but everytime I drink it goes down slow and a lot of gurgling. I haven't been able to eat much at all without discomfort and again the gurgling. I have been "stuck" before and it doesn't feel like that. I've tried pineapple juice and hot drinks. Nothing is helping!! I called the nurse and no help at all. Any suggestions PLEASE???

Thanks I have gave up on hot drinks and only drinking cold water. I'm still having a hard time drinking and I can't eat anything. I made a smoothie for breakfast with ff yogurt and pureed fruit and ice to make it really thin and having a hard time drinking this too. I will be contacting my surgeons office again tomorrow.

Thanks for responding. I did call the nurse yesterday and she just said if it gets worse or I'm in a lot pain to go to the ER, which happens to be 2 hours away. She did make an appointment for me but not for 3 weeks. I don't understand. Someone suggested Pineapple juice so I'm trying that now. If it's not better by Monday I guess I will have to call them back.
