    Good Bras? $$$

I'm losing the most inches so far around my bust. I'm on the last row on my smallest bras, so I will need new ones soon. I usually get a good bra at the lingerie store, so it fits. They have told me that every 15 pounds you should have a new fitting. This could get quite expensive. How are you keeping the girls supported as you lose weight?

    Ipad App Tip

On the iPad app, try clicking on the second to last page, then the last page. It's the way I've been able to see the most current posts in older, long threads.
  3. I was already on a two week liquid diet and then had to do a bowel prep, too. So my last day was Slimfast for breakfast and lunch, then clear liquids until 10 am day of surgery. Good luck! See you on the loser bench.

    Yay. Its Working Again

Still a bit glitchy, I'm afraid. I can't seem to get logged in with the app, so I can only use my PC. It won't let me log in as MadisonMolly, so I have to use this old account (made for the lapband board). I'm sure it will work eventually. In the meantime, I'm glad folks are getting back on.

    7 hours! :)

Best of luck to you for a safe and swift recovery! Your screen name caught my eye because like you I'm a autism mom to two autistic sons (16 & 23). I've put in so much time over the years to make sure their needs are met. Now it's time for us to do something positive for us, right? MM

    Getting psych eval tomorrow

I had to take a 600+ true/false set of questions prior to meeting with the psychologist in person. The psychologist asked about eating habits, home life, childhood often asking me to rate myself on various spectrums of behavior. At the end of our session, he told me what the testing results were.

    Any Wisconsin Sleevers?

Said hi to Tammi for you this morning, Jim! I think I'm going to like her, too.

    Any Wisconsin Sleevers?

I meet with Tammi in the morning for the first time. I'm looking forward to seeing her. Was your wait from initial meeting to surgery a typical time frame for UW? I'm on month 5 of the required 6 month diet for my insurance. 3 weeks to go until the 6 month mark. I have an endoscopy on Monday. It seems like I've been pretty lucky with how these initial appointments are all taking place within 2 weeks. From the psychologist I understand that there are 4 classes and 2 weeks of a liquid pre-op diet. So, you must be close to starting your pre-op diet. I'd be interested to know how you do with it. Did you go to the support group meetings, too? I haven't been, yet, but I plan to attend the next one. -MM

    Any Wisconsin Sleevers?

Hi Jim, So happy to see another UW Hospital patient on this board. I just started the process with Dr. Campos.
  22. Greetings! I had my first meeting with my surgeon this week and he rocked my world a bit. I went in determined for a Lap-Band because it's less invasive and hopefully would have a shorter recovery time, but he recommends either gastric bypass or VSG for the long term outcomes. He said their clinic rarely does the band these days. He authored a study in 2011 that compared long term outcomes of band vs. bypass. So I've been in research mode this week again. I'm leaning toward VSG but am open to bypass, too. I have insurance coverage for bariatric surgery this year but may not have it in 2014 and beyond. My PCP who has treated me for 20 years thinks this is a great option for me after all the failed diets plus I have other surgeries that I need in the future and we both think I would have a better recovery if I weighed a lot (80-100) less. I did one of the surgeries (left ankle) last year and I had complications (pulmonary embolisms) and a slow recovery. I still need to do the right ankle- probably in 2015 if my Achilles doesn't rupture before then. Another complicating factor is a big vacation planned for the Xmas holidays. I don't have a date for my surgery but I'm hoping for August or September. Is it realistic that I would be well enough along my recovery to enjoy Hawaii and eat solid food? We are renting a house, so I plan on making most meals hopefully taking advantage of the fresh fish and fruit that should be available. We can still cancel our plans with little penalty but I am hoping that if I'm able to hike, swim, snorkel it will be a great goal and reward. I realize that everyone heals differently and that surgeons have their own dietary guidelines, but I'm looking for some seasoned VSGers' advice. Cancel Hawaii and do it next year and concentrate on VSG recovery? Or a Hawaii vacation 3-4 months after VSG sounds doable and should be fun? What do you think?
  23. I had a talk with the bariatric psychologist today. The appointment went well. I asked about timing. He thinks that Hawaii for Xmas might be too soon after getting back to a full diet. Oddly, I'm not too disappointed. We'll just plan it for 2014. Perhaps I'll learn to scuba or surf since, hopefully, I'll be 15 or 16 months out from surgery. So, it will be Hawaii 5-0 plus 1.
  24. Great suggestions, DD! Luckily, I still have some time before I need to make a final decision, but the sooner, the better for piece of mind. I might pop into the billing office after my psych appointment tomorrow.
