I feel for you being on all liquids for that period of time, so amazing to me how different each doctors restrictions are. Only did 3 days of clear liquids then on to pureed which is where I am now. Finding myself wanting a good piece of cheese of all things. Have a friend who warned me going in that one of the major battles with the surgery and recovery is mind games. Finding that to be true right now. That's what is so great about this site . So many to help you get through it and on to success.

No prescription pain meds post op?
emidastwin replied to Decemberbee45's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
5 days post op and I too had little pain, was given liquid hydrocodone but only took it the first night home because of going to bed in a nonadjustable bed and thought it would take the edge off to sleep. Have not taken anything since. I too was told no Advil or Aleve. Best of luck to you. -
Almost feel bad saying I had a great day.Today is day 5 post op so really didn't want to be bad. Made a butternut squash pear soup and pumpkin fluff to take to dinner and truly enjoyed it and the conversation with special friends. Looked at the homemade peanut butter eggs and admit I wanted a taste but didn't do it. Actually worried I didn't eat enough today but its too late now to have anything but my Sobe water, the bushel of pills it seems like I am taking right now and call it a night. Loved the sentiments about special days and knowing they will be there every year of this new life.

banded this morning
emidastwin replied to astott626's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hope you soon get some relief astott626, , got my band on Tues(3/26) and have been pretty lucky with the gas pains. Have a pain today in the middle of my back which has been the worst of it. Struggling with the blues for some reason. Thinking its a combination of this miserable winter that will not end and the after effects of the anesthesia. Anxious to get to a real scale and see if I have any more off.Was down 19 from the preop diet. Best of luck!! -
First day of my new journey:)
emidastwin replied to RonMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Got mine yesterday(3/26) and am now home. A little discomfort from the gas but no pain from the incision sites. Had my breakfast and lunch broth and no hunger pangs. Trying to walk so get the gas gone. Hello new life and thanks to all of you here who have been so helpful. -
Today is the day!
emidastwin replied to nicolelmartinez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good Luck. Today is my day also. Scheduled to be at the hospital at 8:30. Thrilled and pretty nervous too. -
gg83, am on the last days of the same preop diet and it went great. Mine included small fruit in between the meals and it really help when the hunger started. Am down 14 pounds as of Thurs3-21 for the 9 days I have been on the diet. Good luck you can do this. I intend to, getting the band on Tues.
-
Tues is my day. So excited(and a little worried). Any advise for eating tomorrow and Monday. Drs instructions were just to continue the liver shrink but wondering if going all liquids what make for a little easy recovery.
-
It is amazing the differences in these preop diets. Mine two is protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, fruits in between for snacks and 3oz lean meat, salad with balsamic vinegar, 6 unsalted crackers and 1/2 cup fruit. Seem to stress no milk products or eggs. Must say it is working though down 11 lbs since last Tues. Best of luck with your surgery.
-
Best of luck! Know your excitement as I am feeling the same, mine is scheduled for next Tues. Not doing too bad with the hunger worst is right when I get home from school so have doing my small piece of fruit snack then . Do see that some have a completely liquid diet before so glad my Dr uses this liver shrink.

Hope this isn't a crazy question...
emidastwin replied to Froggy1125's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When to my consult set on the band then he (dr.) pushed for the sleeve (because he believes would give a bigger weight lose). Was so torn but insurance would not pay for sleeve(which I know in my heart I honestly didn't want) Am set to be banded on March 26th and positive I made the right choice. Like so many others mentioned just could not go with have that radical of procedure. Best of luck deciding, listen to your instinct. -
Scheduled for March 26th,started the liver shrink diet on Tues. Going ok although not real fond of the shakes. Amazing how full I feel after the salad and lean meat for dinner.

This was not in the brochure

Oh my this was so educational and so funny. Thanks for the heads up, never knew I'd be giving my hubbie(Mr Gas) a run for his money. -
Started my liver shrink diet this past Tues(3-12) and have lost 9.5 lbs as of my weight in today at the docs. Really not having hunger on pretty much the same diet you described at although not real thrilled with the shakes handling it pretty good. Scheduled for surgery on March 26th. Excited and scared at the same time. Good luck to you.
