hi musical, i was in the garment industry for years and we actually did the "fittings" for clothes. this meant making up how each size fits try different brands. each brand has it's own "fit" sometimes XL and 1 X are the same. sometimes it's just a length difference...etc. this is actually a good problem going from 3X downward. one word of caution...i started in size 22/24 in march. as i went down sizes i bought alot of clothes. and i ended up flying through some sizes. needless to say i am giving them to charity. i think i was anticipating being like my old self when i always intended to get to a smaller size fast but couldnt. anyway good luck in your search....

also...my aftercare is covered 100 pct by the doctor (ie fills, appts, etc) for 1 year i think alot of doctors offer this.

hi living the dream, is there a reason you arent looking for a doctor close to your home?. for me...the aftercare was just as important if not more important than the operation. i had a few issues (caused by me...not the band) and i really needed my doctor's assistance. i was self pay too. this was the single best thing i've done for myself....no regrets good luck

newlife....put your seatbelt on...you are in for the ride of your life. surgery was not bad. i know how you feel. up until they wheeled me in i didnt think about the surgery too much. i was busy saying goodbye to my twizzlers, peeps, milky ways LOL. right before surgery it hit me..and i got really scared. but they gave me a shot...and next i knew i was in bandland. the recovery wasnt bad. just do everything the doctor tells you. mine was....walk, walk, walk. drink lots of Water and breathe into that breathing "thingey" you will be fine. and once you start throwing the fat clothes away...you will start to love the surgery. good luck

i cant believe you just mentioned this...i am doing the same thing. it is my badge of honor. i was shocked to see how the belt has "grown".... i like wearing it even tho' it looks like i need a new one FAST

since losing weight...i can feel mine even more than when i first had surgery....

hi betty, i always "blamed" myself for being so out of control with food. i belong to a 12 step program for another reason and in that instance...i know willpower doesnt have any place. however i could never make the connection to food. after getting banded.....i dont think this is all emotional. i really feel there is a physical component to the way i ate. pre-banding i thought of food 24/7. since banding.....i now feel like i have normal hunger pangs. someone explained that the receptors that tell us we are full are at the top if the stomach (???) if this is so...it explains it to me. i dont think the fact you are a dietician is a reason to beat yourself up. i knew everything and more about food, Vitamins, etc. it never helped me and maybe sometimes hindered my ability to be open minded. what does matter is the fact that you have taken steps to make yourself healthy. ood luck and i am glad you posted. i'm sure you feel a weight off your shoulders

hi believe it or not....if i skip my Protein shake in the morning...i eat more junk all day long. the shake fills me up and keeps me satisfied for a long time. i use the Isopure prepackaged shakes with Water. they are delicious. they have 300 cals and 50 gms of protein. low carbs. i have trouble getting in "good" calories so this helps me. i also take a multi Vitamin with this.

hi bekkie, i've found the pre-packaged isopure shakes (50 gms) mixed with water/ice to taste like regular milk shakes. i like the dutch chocolate and the vanilla. i mix the vanilla one with either banana's, berries, etc. they also have other flavors. i use this when i am tight and cant take in too much food. i also use the whey Protein that comes in test tubes. it's from IDS. you can either get the 25gms or 42 gms size. since i was banded...i've concentrated on making sure i got both protein in and Vitamins and i swear this is why i havent had issues with hair loss. i also feel great (not tired, etc) good luck

hi elchew, what's BC/BS? i found my doctor on this website. he and his staff are amazing! but you can tool around here and read about the various doctors in our area. we have alot of choices in houston. www.lapband.com also has doctors in the area. it is sponsored by the participating doctors..so keep this in mind but i recommend this site "Lapbandtalk.com" because people are really honest . use the search function above good luck. it is the best decision i've ever made.

for me....2 days i was self-pay

hi i find if i am away from the gym for too long...i get insecure. when i get my butt to the gym regularly....i find i feel i "belong" and get over my insecurity sometimes our minds play tricks and we need to walk through these fears. i know that is how it is for me.... it's better to have gym clothes too big. also usually people are too busy thinking about themselves to give others much thought good luck

hi, my doctor also fixed a large hernia when he put the band in. i was worried when he told me i had a hernia...but later found out it was no biggie. from what i've seen on this website....alot of bandsters have hernia repairs when they get the band. you say you are uncomfortable? what's the issue? i felt not-so-great for a few days after my operation, but i feel most of it was from the anesthesia
