nervous about surgery, need advise
JosieK replied to novbeginning's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hi nov it is TOTALLY normal to feel that way. i usually don't get nervous...i couldn't breathe right before my surgery. i was thinking all of these thoughts...what if this...what if that.. what helped me get through it was thinking about all of the people that have gone before me and are doing just fine....NO...they are doing better then fine. so this helped to calm my mind. right after surgery i will realized how routine this operation was. afterwards i followed all of the doctors orders (ie. walking, breathing exercises, etc) good luck -
hi karen welcome. i actually moved from NYC to texas 1 year ago. originally i investigated this procedure in NY....but ended up getting it here. i was going to use Dr Ren if i got it there. which doctor did you use? glad you found the site. there is alot of info here....

Did the clear liquid diet weight come back
JosieK replied to Lexiegirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi lexiegirl, my weight didnt come back after being on liquid diet but when i continued to restrict my calories (2-3 weeks after surgery) my weight loss came to a grinding halt. so the message i took was i had to fuel (eat) my body to lose weight. of course it has to be healthy food. good luck -
fitting a normal size towel around my waist using regular size robes in the haircutting place without having to pin it it's the little things in life that "get me" and make me happy!

Losing weight is the last thing on my mind!
JosieK replied to Longhorn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hey longhorn, in my opinion you have a great perspective on where you are supposed to be... i also wonder when people weigh themselves every hour ...what they expect will happen. i know when i weigh myself alot...i am not in a good place. in fact mid way between my surgery and now...i started getting obesessed about weighing. i actually stopped losing weight because the more i focused on this...the more frustrated i became and the more i ate junk. so i got rid of my scale and only weigh in 1-2 times a month. my weight started flying off since i focused on trying to eat healthy and exercise. good luck -
hi chris...i totally agree with you...it's crazy how sensitive people have become... one reason i am glad i moved to texas...it is more acceptable to say merry christmas down here. while i was in NY...i would get the look of horror if i said that.....

hi i actually thought wheetsin's response was informational. she obviously has had success and took alot of time to thoughtfully respond to forreste's email.
-
hi forreste i feel for you. i think we have all been in the position of feeling the weight of the world on our shoulders. when i feel like that i go back to simple basics. 1. track my food (many times when i dont track i fool myself into thinking is didnt eat as much as i have. a little bit here and there really adds up) 2. exercise is key. so maybe just walk a little and then increase each week. i would ignore the doctor. he sounds like a jack%$s i find this website to be informational. i havent found too much controversy. people just ignore you....but i've learned to deal with it and only use it for information and if i can share a problem or how i deal with it. i belong to a 12 step program and there is a saying "your past does not predict your future" so make believe this is the 1st day of the rest of your life. you can do it.... anyway dont give up...... good luck

Surgery is This Friday!!
JosieK replied to ansherwo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi ashley, good luck on your surgery..... i think there are as many experiences after surgery as there are people on this site. for me...by day 3 i was ok. it is key to walk, walk, walk and drink lots of Water. also doing the breathing exercises they give you after anesthesia. i had my surgery on a friday. i slept all day saturday and started walking on sunday i think that was one reason i got back on my feet pretty quickly. but i will tell you i was pretty tired for 2 weeks. let us know how you do... -
Will Weight Watchers Work?
JosieK replied to HersheeKisz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dibaby...how many points do you allow yourself. i was using sparkpeople to track my calories but i find the weighwtatchers website alot more user friendly. so i think i may switch back to that. i also find i get more support in their "threads" altho' they dont understand lapband and i usually just talk about emotions, problem issues etc. i usually start tracking when i find myself starting to snack. it helps to jolt me back to reality. i can "mind-fool" myself into thinking i didnt eat that much when i eat junk. anyway just curious how many points. i eat between 800-1000 calories a day. -
hi, mine said 1800....wow....i would surely gain. i actually like spark people better. actually one the the best websites in terms of user-ability for tracking what you eat is weight watchers. unfortunately they track points and not calories, Protein, etc
-
hi i am having a senior moment. (just turned 50 2 weeks ago) i cant remember the name of the calorie tracking website that i use that i liked. it isnt fitday but similar to it. i think it begins with an "S" any ideas? thanks ahead of time
-
in the beginning i took 20 lbs off almost right away. after that....i keep losing in spurts. seems like i will drop 5-8 lbs...then nothing for a few weeks. i actually just lost 18 lbs in the last 2 months. i wasnt really even focused on it. i just ate my meals..no snacking. this week however i am starting to snack again.... exercise has been key to keeping my metabolism running well.
-
hi as i am reading your post...dr spivak came on the television on his commercial. i havent been able to eat in the morning since i was banded. i can drink Protein shakes so that makes my mornings quite simple. i know when i asked spivak about not being hungry in the morning he said, "then dont eat" he went on to say he hasnt eaten Breakfast in 25 yrs. not sure if my situation is the same as yours.... in july i was too tight and couldnt even drink Water. i happened to be on vacation and was miserable. got a little out and felt better. maybe call brenda. i find her to be very practical and not just have "pat" answers. good luck
-
hi laura. just looked at your tracking website and i like it too...i may try it also thanks
-
That's it! ......thanks travel girl been snacking again so when i "start snackin' i start trackin' ha!" thanks again
