Ready for first fill tommorrow :) started having issues
Draven replied to phenix1824's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hi.i had a few sticks after my last fill. I found out that after a stuck, with throwing up, it was best to go all liquid again. apparently there could be swelling and it would continue to keep sticking. So I went all liquid for two days, than mushy soft for two days and than solid. It seemed to work. Let your doc know. After a fill I think you have to do liquid only anyway. At least I know I do. Best of luck. -
I totally understand. Similar here. I started at 320. I lost about fifty. Was doing great. And than, well, life happens. I got hit with alot of family drama. ALOT! So diet and food and weight were all put on the back burner. I gained weight. I was eating Wendy's again. Justifying to myself that I needed a hamburger with my bacon and cheese potato. I was definitely going down hill. I decided I needed to start over. The day after Christmas I went into the doctor. I was kindly reprimanded. LOL. They asked me what was wrong, I told them all the drama. They said they were shocked I didnt gain back more. So I started over and am now down 20. I had a fill problem, they didn't unfill, I was the problem. I never watched bite size. I do now!!!!lol. The bottom line is, if I could start over and do it, You definitely can. I am like the worst with will power. LOL. We can do this.

Questions I wished I had asked.....
Draven replied to erinkenben's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would have asked why the hospital would put a table of girl scouts selling cookies right at the front door to the bariatric surgery wing. After a pre surgical fast no less. Those poor little girl scouts were almost in fear for their lives as A deranged 320 pound starving man almost lost all control, however the sale they almost had would have put them in new uniforms for years to come. lol -
I had a similar experience. Not neccesarily with tooth paste. After my surgery I could not stomach the taste of ANYTHING ! Protein shakes, which I have actually loved my whole life, were unbearable. Jello was awful. I couldn't stand the taste of anything. No matter what flavor. I am happy to say that it did go away. It lasted about a week with me.

1 week banded with plication
Draven replied to melodyj730's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hi Tara. I agree. I don't feel i've lost more or faster as well. In all fairness there was a period where i put eating on the back burner and know thats why I didnt have as much success as i could have. I am happy i did it. i hate to say this but i have seen a few unsuccesful banded people. and i think i would have been another if i didnt also have plication. I gained back 10 pounds during that stretch, however I didn't gain it all back. I have two friends that did, and they were not plicated. But now I am back and going strong. -
1 week banded with plication
Draven replied to melodyj730's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
He told me , as well as some sites, that a reversal of the plication was as simple as cutting three stitches. Also, I didn't see much cause about needing a plication reversal. Even if the band came out the plication would stay. That was my main selling point. This way I could use it as a back up incase the band needed to ever be removed. -
Hi all. So I just had a quick question. Has anyone ever felt discomfort with their band? Long story short, I had a fill a week and a half ago. After fill I couldn't get any solids down. Had a few vomiting spells. I called the doctor. We decided that instead of an unfill I would restart the cycle. Two days liquids. Two days soft mushy. And than try solids again, but this time really focusing on bite size. I never had an issue before this with bite size, but thought they maybe finally got my band to the point it was really working. Now all of a sudden I have a feeling ot tightness around the band. And some slight discomfort. It felt as if I were sucking my stomach in even though I wasn't. And pretty much right where my band is. I have never felt that before, and was wondering if anyone here has? Thank you all.

thank you new day. that makes sense.
-
I don't think its gas. Not feeling gassy at all. it's hard to describe it. Best i can do is say it feels like its being squeezed. Like i'm sucking my stomach in, but i'm not. LOL. if that makes any sense at all. LOL

I so need a buddy as I am slipping back a little
Draven replied to NewLife4Jen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
any thing I can do to help I will. I had a bit of a slip myself. But decided to rededicate myself the day after christmas and have been doing ok since. You have done fantastic. 70 pounds is great. The best thing is that you caught yourself slipping. The fact that you realized you were having an issue, and didn't just continue the slide, speaks volumes of just how dedicated you really are, even if you didn't see it yourself. You will get through this!!!! -
I love sushi!!! lol. I actually ate it alot post surgery, up until this week. LOL. I found brown rice california rolls that were 160 calories for 6 pieces. However, for first time I got stuck on it this week. I'm sure it was because my bite size was too large. I will try it again next week.

I need a refill but is something wrong with my band?
Draven replied to Magaband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Maga, I've been there too. It's ok. I understand what you are feeling. You have to let your doctors do their thing. This is a life time journey. And not an instant fix. I've had days where I even questioned if I wasn't scamed and they didn't put anything in because of how much I wanted and knew I could eat. Alot of times I was starving and went for food, and the only thing that stopped me was thinking, " I just had surgery so I wouldn't eat like this" and it would help me not eat. However, still felt I could. And worse, I WANTED TOO. I went back to doctor, after a long break, and found I had gained back weight. Due to stress and life issues. But I wanted to recommit to this. I just got a fill, and think I finally feel what I should have felt all along. And I'm back to losing. YOU CAN DO IT !!!!! I'm here for you. We are all here for you. -
Great Job!!!!! congrats

1 week banded with plication

Stress wasn't the word. My life became a soap opera for a stretch. A bad one at that. So for six months I just focused on trying to fix all that. Lol -
1 week banded with plication
Draven replied to melodyj730's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good question. This was how I looked at it. First, it looks very safe. In fact, safer than banding itself. In fact I even asked about just getting plication without band because of nerves. Lol. Was told no. Lol. I didn't feel restricted. But I can honestly say that during my break from dieting I gained ten pounds back, not the full fifty I normally would have. The other reason I did it was this, banding isn't a definite. There could be problems. And your band could come out. The way I saw it, if they did have to take the band out I'd still have the plication as a back up and this way I wouldn't have gone through this for nothing. I am happy I did plication. It's completely reversible. I do wish it was more restrictive. But it does seem to be helping. -
Where R my Struggling Bandsters? There's still hope!

Thanks for the post. I love the pics. Congrats. -
Hi dani. Ny here too. Well, I assume nyc means that. However last night I assumed PB meant peanut butter and was wayyyyy off base. Lol. Don't be hard on yourself. The way I look at it, we aren't even on diets. We are on a complete life style change. And that includes having little treats every now and then. I get down on myself too. It happens. But that's what we are here for. To pick each other up.

1 week banded with plication
Draven replied to melodyj730's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can say that the surgery wiped me out. The day after my wife got banded she was walking up hills through the woods. Me? I felt like I got run over. By a truck. Followed by a marching band. Lol. Plus I suddenly started hating the taste of everything. That went away after about a week. Lol. -

I'm 41. My wife got banded from him too. But no plication. They didn't offer it back when she went.
