Phobia of Throwing Up
nicolelmartinez replied to Singer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Throwing up is rare. I'm 5 weeks out and had a fill already and never even come close. -
Best time to weigh myself?
nicolelmartinez replied to healthylifestyle4me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
6 pound difference in an hour? I think something is wrong with your scale! -
You had your surgery 4 days ago and you just got your first fill? Wow that's crazy. Never heard of such a thing. You should still be on liquids I would think but your doctor should be the best to ask.

What I have learned since being banded
nicolelmartinez posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well it's been 3 weeks since I was banded. Just received my first fill this week, and am grateful my doctor does fills to early. Here are some things I have learned that may be helpful to some newbies! You must learn to differentiate between head hunger and physical hunger. The reason why we are all here is because in the past we have given in to head hunger way too many times. Now that my band is much tighter, that feeling of fullness is not the same as it once was. However, it is now a feeling of satisfied. There is a HUGE difference. So, newly banded, do not expect to feel "stuffed" while eating smaller portions. You must learn to listen to your body and understand the new feeling of being full. You can easily gain weight with the band by making poor choices. The worst thing I have given in to in the last few weeks is a piece of pizza. That is a HUGE accomplishment for me. Tomorrow is my birthday. Will I eat dessert? Yes, a few bites. I don't believe in giving up things that I once enjoyed. The only problem is I enjoyed them too much. We must now learn to eat to live, not live to eat. There is nothing that is EASY about having the band. It takes a huge lifestyle change that you must be willing to commit to. -
Interesting experience! Not too bad but I will say a little painful when feeling around for the port. Took a too large of sip of water afterwards. Hello we have restriction!

Elevated White Blood Count
nicolelmartinez replied to kbell2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always have a high white count. It's always a pain when I have to have surgery because my white count comes back high and doctors freak out. Nothing is wrong with me, had it all checked out but it's always elevated, around 12,000. Inflammation plays a part in that. -

Why would it be necessary to have a medical Alert bracelet? -
differences in doctors orders
nicolelmartinez replied to carley0303's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine seems to be the most liberal. No pre-op diet, full liquid first week, mushies second week and start soft diet week 3. And, first fill week 3! -
How was the recovery from your TT? Your scar looks awesome, like a crease more so!
-
Omg I am 8 days out and have never passed gas as much as I do know!
-
Yes hiccup burp combo! Me too!
-
Just went for my post op appointment today and mentioned the very same thing! I feel like I have to burp and the air doesn't come out, gets pushed back down. Totally normal according to the doc, lots of swelling and when your stomach is being tightened its all affected. Once the band loosens up you should be able to burp :-)

Got very excited today because I'm 6 days post op and the nurse said I could have scrambled eggs. Cooked 3(my mind is obviously bigger than my stomach). Took like 5 bites and I was full! Love my lap band! -

Two days post op hurts to eat!
nicolelmartinez replied to nicolelmartinez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm trying not to take the pain meds as much because they make me constipated but may have to take one. This gas pain is ridiculous.
