Hmmmm.....where do I even start? I guess it would be safe to say that in high school I was very athletic...I enjoyed sports, running, gymnastics anything competitive. After I got married and had been married for a couple of years I was always so tired from working, being a new wife, trying keep up with housework and laundry and be social. I started gaining bit by bit. When I was 21 I had an episode with my heart beating too fast...found out I had WPW(Wolfe, Parkinson, White Syndrome). Had an ablation done on that and was healed. Weight didn't stop though.
So here I was 21 yrs later at 40 yrs old with high blood pressure, BMI too high, arthritic knees and just plain miserable. I felt FAT and UGLY! My family doctor suggested the lap band. I thought, why not? I honestly thought this would solve all my problems.
On Feb 8, 2011 I was banded. I did really well the first six weeks. I go in for my first fill and we find out that my port has flipped over. So back into surgery on April 11,2011. I was literally down for 12 weeks. I did lose some in those weeks, regained some after a few months. The first year I went to all of my appts. Followed all the rules...or so I thought. Got frustrated the second year and just didn't make any appts.
I am here today, going in for my second fill on Friday, March 8,2013. I have not regained any of the weight I have lost..the band is doing it's job that way. But I can eat anything I want and a good portion of it too. I even went as far as thinking the gastric sleeve would be better for me. I have a tool now and I need to use that tool before I go and have another surgery. It's all in my mind, I know what I need to do and I'm going to do it.
