First time eating out since banding...
hockeymother replied to deleteme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you. That is the hardest struggle EVER!!!! But you did it, and the more you do it, it becomes habit and just becomes part of your life. I still sit and watch my husband wolf down chicken wings, pizza, and every other food that made me fat. And believe me its still a struggle but well worth it. When you jump on the scale and it continuously goes down, that's when feel that all struggles were worth it. Keep up the great work. -
Should I Be Getting My First Fill?
hockeymother replied to hockeymother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I weighed myself today, and I'm down another 1.5 lbs. I tried really really hard to drink the water this week and I guess that did the trick. I have learned that water is so important, the only thing is I have to use a flavouring. Anyhoo, I was nice to see the scale move again. -
Nothing feels better than shopping for new clothes and the clothes you thought we're your size are to big!!!!! Just 6 1/2 short weeks ago I was a size 16 and 214 lbs. Today I weigh 192 lbs and am a size 12. And i haven't had a fill yet. I can't believe this. As I've seen on here so many times "nothing tastes as good as weight loss feel".

Should I Be Getting My First Fill?
hockeymother replied to hockeymother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have really, really thought about the real hunger or the head hunger. I force myself to wait out the 4 hours but by then I am ravenous. Then I eat bad foods, something fast and easy. One thing I don't do enough is drink water. I have to try to take in more. -
What can I use to diminish the scars?
hockeymother posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have every intention of eventually wearing a bikini. I am only 4 1/2 weeks post, and want to get a head start to get rid of the discoloured scars on my belly. Does anyone have any suggestions on what works best to diminish the scars? -
Who has cheated
hockeymother replied to BigOBoy123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think your post should read who HASN'T cheated? I know I have. But not to the extent that I gain weight. I know that I cheat here and there, but I feel so guilty about it I make sure to jog a little bit extra or drink water. Remember, we weren't big for nothin'. lol -
losing sympathy and offering an apology
hockeymother replied to gowalking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very thoughtful of you to rethink your response. We must remember that we all had the surgery because of lack of control over food. Some are more prepared than others but I'm glad you realize that some will need support when they are down. I was one who thought I had my head on straight when I did this. But that one moment of weakness beat me and I caved. I learned from it, but those moments.... those cravings......still rear their ugly heads. It's hard but with this site, and the support I get from here, makes it so much easier to pick myself up and dust myself off and get back on track. -
What can I use to diminish the scars?

Thanks all. I am Ojibwa Canadian which means I have darker skin. So whenever I get a scar it really shows up, a few shades darker than my mocha coloured skin and is extremely visible. I burnt my forearm on a hot pan last year and the scar is so dark across my arm that everyone asks about it. -
This is your opinion and I doubt it is a medical opinion. WLS is an individual decision. What you are doing is the same as the rest of society.... judging others based on your own insecurities. If anyone wants WLS, anyone can get it. It's not just for certain people. If it helps a person, than it is worth it.

Considered a BIG NSV for me!
hockeymother replied to Spaness2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just asked this very question a couple of days ago. I was told its a Non scale Victory. -
I look forward to weekends but this is my weak spot. My head hunger goes into overdrive and I want to eat everything in sight and I'm not even hungry. I've been fighting it and staying within my daily calories but man o man what a struggle. I'm so glad when it's bedtime so I don't have to think about food.

Weekends = cravings
hockeymother replied to hockeymother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, the scale moving down really helps to keep me in control. But there are those moments where the devil says "oh what the hell" but then the angel says "no! Hold out, you can do it"! -

Look in the mirror, you've done this too many people on here. Get over yourself. -

Yes, just take it slow and relax. See your Dr and if you stay on this site just try to ignore some of the comments that are not so supportive. Some people don't even realize how condescending they are. If you are feeling panicked, always call your Dr, I know my Dr has told me to call anytime, his staff is always on call. -
I am four weeks post op on Wednesday, I have no restriction what so ever and can eat anything and any amount. And I did it once. But after my pig out episode I've made sure to be really strict with myself. I have lost 15 lbs so far. Until I get a good enough fill, it is all me and self discipline at work. Needless to say I'm looking forward to the fills and hitting the green zone.

Calories in-calories out=?
hockeymother replied to Mizz_Megan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, I use it to keep my eye on what I'm eating. They say the way to success is to journal everything. MFP keeps you aware of calories going in. -
The new me...finally

Sorry.... He was awesome and so were all the staff. He even called me personally a few days later just to check on me. -

Dr Coburn did my surgery. I agree he was totally -
I think we all struggled in the beginning. And it only stands to reason, we had the surgery because we need help. So at this point when it is just our own self discipline we rely on, it's gonna be hard and you will cheat here and there. I did! Big time. I just keep trying re-train my brain to think that stumbles will happen but if I get back on course the end result will be worth it. The band will help if you make sure to stay on course the majority of time and have just a few cheats here and there. I call that reality.

Post Op 1 week bad breath
hockeymother replied to Livnlow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too had horrible breath after surgery, no idea what causes it, but according to others on here its related to surgery. But nothing serious. Someone else suggested keetosis (sp).
