    Food ideas

I am 1 1/4 years with my band. Last week I had a stuck episode and it caused a lot of swelling to my stomach and I think my esophagus. I am moving slowly towards eating again but I still can't eat solids. Do you have suggestions for mushy foods that I can eat? I am so bored of just soups and ice cream.

    MUSHIE SUGGESTIONS

I should have read the other threads before I posted my own. We are in the same boat.
  3. I am 1 year and 2 months with band. I am very happy with my new life. But I'll tell ya, I still have stuck episodes and after each one it takes me at least week to get back to normal. I get so swollen that the first day I can't even take water. By about day three or four I can eat mushies and then eventually normal food. I mostly get stuck on foods that don't usually cause me problems. It's just because I don't chew enough or my bites are to big. I think of this as a reminder. Every now and then my eating gets out of control and then I get stuck. Kinda brings me back to reality. It's a painful reminder but it keeps me in line for the next few months. It'll get better. I promise, just don't rush the eating until the swelling is completely gone.

    Store Securiry Alarms

As anyone experienced setting off store security alarms entering and leaving stores. I set them off every time I go in or out of a store. Oddly enough this only started happening about a month ago and I've had the lap band for 1 year. I realized it was the lap band through the process of elimination.

    Store Securiry Alarms

I wish I could figure it out, but like I said I went through the process of elimination. The only thing I didn't take off was my clothes. I left my purse, my keys, my phone, nothing in my hair, no jewelry, just a t-shirt, shorts bra and panties. Can't for the life of me figure it out. This is the only thing I can think of.

    Worried sick

Parisshel, I don't know when he will refill. I have to call back tomorrow to let them know how I'm feeling. I still can't eat regular foods. I'm only on liquids until I call. But after what I went through I am terrified to try regular food. Although my appetite is back, I crave certain foods, I'm scared to try anything. I'll leave it that way until I call. I feel so good right now. I don't ever want to have that miserable feeling again.

    Worried sick

Dawalsh, I don't have a regular monthly fill. I had my band placed in May of 2013 and got my first fill in Dec 2013. I had lost 50 at that point. But by dec I had stalled and I was getting hungrier and hungrier between meals.

    Worried sick

I got stuck on Wednesday and the hours afterward proceeded with the pbing but this time it moved to acid reflux and I couldn't sleep. I kept forcing spitting up the acid reflux that I started to see blood in the spit up. No pain in my stomach, but the blood freaked me out. So I ran to emerg. Dr. Checked me out and said I gave myself "Mallory-Weise" tears. Which is basically tears from forcing myself to spit up the acid reflux. This caused a lot of pain and swelling. I tried to live with for two days but the pressure in my stomach area, not eating or drinking anything, the lightheaded and general weakness....I couldn't take it anymore. So I went into to my weight loss clinic (4 hour drive) and the Dr said there was no damage to my esophagus or the band but I was swollen shut. He had to take all 2.5 cc's out. INSTANT RELIEF! The pressure went away and water went down. Now I have to start over from scratch. I'm on liquids only until the swelling is totally gone then we start fresh. What a scary learning experience. And I'm almost at my 1 year anniversary. I'm so glad I decided to go to the WLC or I'd still be suffering now. The only thing is now it's been 3 days since removing the saline and my appetite has returned full force. Terrified of gaining before I get the fill. My mind can't get off of bread, pasta, pizza etc. all the things I couldn't have with the tightened band. Yikes!

    Esophageal Problems

Well I couldn't take anymore and went in to the weight loss clinic. They had to take all 2.5 cc's. I have to start all over but man o man what a relief. I felt instant relief and was able to drink water after 2 days of absolutely nothing. I am now able to drink protein shakes and getting some energy back. I'm so glad I decided to call the weight loss clinic where they could help.

    Esophageal Problems

I just had the same problem. Although this was my first time. I got stuck today and the hours afterward proceeded with the pbing but this time it moved to acid reflux and I couldn't sleep. It will heal on it's own in a few days, but man o man what a lesson to learn. I am starting over from scratch drinking only liquids and so on. I'm just glad there isn't more damage. And I do know that it could have been way worse.
  11. I've been banded for 10 months and down 60 lbs. I had one fill 4 months ago. I've noticed within the last month that I've really started to rely on sliders to get through the day. I try to eat chicken; pork; beef and countless others to get my Protein but no matter how much I chew, I get stuck. Out of fear I just stay away from those foods. Because I get hungry I reply on Soups, chips, ice cream, and tons of coffee. I don't know why this is happening all of a sudden but I'm wondering if I should get an unfill? As I type this, I am feeling light headed. I will probably run home and make a Protein shake for supper. (boring) What do you think I should do?
  12. I have begun to lose again. I was stalled for while but got my first fill and the scale is going down again. I hit the BIG 50! 50 lbs lost. I can't believe it. I never ever in my wildest dreams thought that I would mutter those words. Even as I'm typing this, it seems surreal. I can't believe that I only have 14 lbs to goal. I have never been close to my goal weight since I was 7 lbs 8 oz. lol This forum has been my life line. Even tho I don't always post or comment, I am always reading others' stories for inspiration. A big 50 lb THANK YOU to everyone on here.
  13. I was banded in May '13. Lost 45 lbs and just had my first fill on Dec 13th. The Dr added 1 CC for a total of 3 CC. I didn't feel any difference until 5 days later. At this point I had a stuck episode and really hurt my stomach. Ended up so swollen I couldn't even get water down for another day or two. Then I could only drink liquids then on to mushies and finally solids. The moral of my story is to be aware that you may not feel a difference for a few days but be very cautious of this. Once you realize the difference start eating like you did after surgery.

    Acid freakin reflux

Had my first fill 5 days ago (surgery was 7 months ago and down 45 lbs). Today I had a stuck episode and felt the affects all day long. Couldn't eat or drink anything without it coming back up. Now it's the middle of the night and I can't sleep due to acid reflux. I've never had an issue with acid reflux in my life. Is this normal after a fill or is it too tight?

    Am I Too Tight?!

I am much too scared to do damage by forcing myself to throw up. I got patient and just started over from scratch. Drinking liquids for a few days, on to mushies then slowly moving to regular foods. I think I'm all good now. It's been one week but I've learned my lesson. And I'm back on track. Feeling good again.

    Too Tight

Thanks for your kind advice. And I think you are right, the holidays are adding to my frustration. As the days go on I seem to be able to eat without as much pain and restriction. Perhaps it was/is irritation to my stomach. And I guess you are right, I should just do what I know is right and eat soft foods and start over again. In the end I'll come out of the holiday season lighter. Thank for your support gang. You truly are fantastic people. Merry Christmas.

    Too Tight

I had my first fill last Monday (1cc). I didn't feel anything until 5 days later when I had a stuck episode. For 3 days after this stuck episode I couldn't eat anything, now I can only tolerate liquids. I haven't felt this sad in the entire time I had the lap band. I had surgery in May and have lost 45 lbs. I got the fill because I started to notice I was hungry between meals and was able to eat a lot more. But now I regret getting the fill because now I can't eat anything, at all. And I am really upset. And my drs office is closed until after the holidays. I hate this too tight feeling.

    Acid freakin reflux

Thanks everyone. As my day went on the acid reflux went away so I'm assuming it was due to the stuck episode. Although, I do think my fill has made the band too tight as I am on day two and can only drink, and even that is a chore and painful. I'm calling my dr first thing tomorrow to see if I should get some taken out. This is so miserable.
  20. Hi everyone, I have done quite well since my surgery on May 15th. I've lost 38 pounds without a fill. It may not seem like much to some but to me....this is awesome. The thing is, I haven't lost anything in the last three weeks. A few things could be the cause. 1. I've started weight training and cardio at the gym (with a trainer) 2. I haven't been overly strict in my eating (eating bad foods) 3. It could be time for my first fill. I have been very good with the amount I eat and how I chew it, therefore haven't had many "stuck" episodes. I am scared that if I get a fill, I may start seeing more "stuck" episodes and I don't look forward to that. Should I just wait it out and see what happens this week, or should I just book for my first fill?

    losing hair daily

I am at the 5 month mark and losing like CRAZZZZZY! I have been taking Biotin, I'll try anything. I've upped my protein and keeping my fingers crossed. I can't believe I'm not bald. I hope this stops soon!

    May bandings, Updates wanted

I was banded May 15th, starting weight was 214. 3 months later I am down 30 pounds. I haven't had a fill yet. Down to 184.
  23. I am happy to report that I hit the 30 pound mark today, on my 3 month bandiversary. I haven't been this weight since before my first daughter was born 17 years ago. I feel so incredibly proud of myself and I want to thank everyone on this forum and other forums who've helped me along the way. Your encouragement and support are the backbone to my success.
  24. I am now 8 weeks post op and I guess I'm doing pretty good. I've lost a little over 25 lbs so far. But I have noticed lately that I am getting hungrier and hungrier and I can't control myself as much as I did previously. I contacted my clinic and asked when I should go in for my first fill and she said when my satiety doesn't last longer than 4 hours. Well, I keep forgetting to time my eating but I am noticing my cravings and hunger are getting worse and worse. Should I get a fill?
