ItsBritneyB replied to dani_nyc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can eat almost anything, but eggs do give me a little trouble in the morning. I have to take small bites and chew very well. Check out my lap band blog www.biscuitsandexcuses.blogspot.com -

My in laws have a lake house and a beach house. I love the Water. I love the sand, I love tanning, but I hate wearing a bathing suit. My scale goal is 160 but my non scale goal is to chase after my child on the beach in a modest but stylish bathing suit and not worry about who is watching. I want to get up and down from my beach chair without almost toppling over. I want to walk down the beach with out a skirt or bathing suit cover up on. Good luck on your journey. You can do it. I was totally able to go back to work in 2 days. I probably could have gone back the very next day.

I was self pay. I agree that you pay and pay and pay. I wish I had chose gastric bypass. I would love to have a revision but I spent all my savings on lap band. Over $20,000 so far. But I am still happy with my band. It's just harder than I expected.

what is a "normal" amount of food?
ItsBritneyB replied to Scrapmom3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was too tight for a year and it began to stretch out my esaphogus, which could cause malignent cells to form. I had never heard of this before. It is so scary that my eating too much and being too tight could have caused cancer. I really wish they talked about this more. Made more people aware. So scary! It does sound like you are too tight. Don't eat too much like I did. Learn from me. Follow my lap band blog www.biscuitsandexcuses.blogspot.com -
30 minutes before and 30 minutes after. The first time my lap band was tight I drank with every meal. I did not lose the weight very fast and I gained back what I did lose. This time I am not drinking with my meals and I can tell the biggest difference. I am getting fuller sooner. Good Luck! check out my lap band blog www.biscuitsandexcuses.blogspot.com

Puree Stage....Suggestions????
ItsBritneyB replied to ♥ANewMeLADYT♥'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I pureed a lot of soups. Healthy choice makes a clam chowder that is good. I would either put it in my magic bullet and puree the clams and potatoes, or just drain it all together. The texture didn't bother me because in my head I was eating soup anyway. Also, make your own chicken salad with pureed chicken or tuna, pickles, non fat greek yogurt, a little mustard, S & P. Sorry it took me so long to write back. I'm new at this. I went for my first fill and got 2cc, then a couple of weeks later he put in 4.4 more. So I am at 6.4 now. It was great at first but I think it has loosened up a little. Hopefully he will give me a little more.

I know you are discouraged, but my goodness look how much weight you have lost! Good job! Maybe it is just slow because you have lost so much! But maybe you need to change things up, like your workout or your food. I know when I hit a platue I will do low carb for a couple weeks and it really jump starts my weight loss. Good Luck! I had my surgery in 2005, lost 70lbs, had to go on a band vacation, gained it all back, just had it tightened two weeks ago, and I have lost 10 lbs. That's my journey. Good for you, at least you kept it off all this time. Check out my blog www.biscuitsandexcuses.blogspot.com

ItsBritneyB replied to skikyd's topic in Insurance & Financing
Counting everything, even all the pre op test I had to do, It was $24,000.00 That is what I spent from start to finish. I kept up with it so I could claim it on insurance . -

About to pay the deposit but...
ItsBritneyB replied to Wanna-Be-Healthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It wont be different if you don't change your mind set. This was one thing I stuggled with. If I had will power I wouldnt need the band in the first place. The best advice I can tell you is listen to your band. Stop when it says stop. I did not do that and it made me sick and it was painful and I gained weight. I have so much regret. Please learn from my mistakes. Don't waste this wonderful gift. -

I am the bandster that didn't lose (for long). Well, I lost 70 lbs at first but then I stopped following the rules and found ways to cheat the band. I gained it all back. I am starting my journey over. You can do it! Stay focused. Best of luck.
