  1. Ok, I am 8 days post op and I just had a moment where I thought I was going to cry my eyes out. My parents just invited me over for a meal and I figured their might be something I could eat so as I wonder in the house I instantly see hamburgers, hotdogs, fried potatoes, homemade cheese cake, and several other homemade goodies. Keep in mind that my parents have no idea about what and bandster can eat after surgery so please don't pass judgement on them. I look at my Mom and tell her I can't have any of it and not only does it break my heart, it breaks her heart too. Firstly let me say this, I am one of them Good O Country Boys who loves home cookin. And my Mom is literally the best cook ever and she enjoys seeing her Family enjoy her food so I feel bad for her as well. So I sat on the deck with the rest of my Family as they ate and I finally had to just get up n leave cause it was too much for me. And as much as I hate to say it I'd say as soon as I got out of eat shot my Mom started crying. I feel so bad for not being able to eat it. Don't get me wrong they all understand why I didn't, but they also know how much I enjoy my Moms cooking. But I have a little bit of happiness from the fact that I didn't give in and try any of it. Oh well.

    Felt like crying

Thanks Duchess, I actually felt worse for my Mom than I did myself. Even now when I think about it it breaks my heart. She just likes to see her Son happy so I know she will be even happier when I am happier. Thanks again.

    Newly banded bandsters!

I'm 8 days post op and I can pretty much do whatever I want, or at least everything I have tried lol. The only time I feel anything is when I bend over to tie my shoes. And I'm not suppose to lift 30 lbs or more for 2 more weeks. But right after my surgery I couldn't do anything. I slept in my recliner and only started sleeping in the bed last night.

    New feeling

That's awesome. I'm still finding it quite hard to get the protein drinks in but in trying. As for my eating habits, today I had a couple popsicles a glass of crystal light lemonade, and a small bowl of vegetable soup. The soup didn't 100% agree with my stomach but it hasn't been a big issue either. I'm only eating 1 actual meal a day. Is this enough?
  6. Has everyone been told No More Carbonation? I miss my Mt. Dew so bad.
  7. I immediately regretted my decision for the surgery but now I am 7 days post op and I'm not regretting it anymore. The feeling you have will pass.

    Carbinated drinks

Even though I do love sodas I am very aware they are not good for you and I have never drank a lot of them. Maybe 1 every 2 days or something. How soon after surgery did you get to drink one?
  9. As for me I could not stomach the thought of drinking anything. I only got a few tiny sips of water down the first couple days. Not to scare you but the gas pains were so intense I couldn't think about anything else. So my advise is to have the following handy. 1. The prescribes pain meds. 2. A very comfortable chair or couch to lay in. I couldn't lay down at all because of the incisions. 3. Gas-X. I used the chewable kind and they seemed to help a lot. 4. Comfortable clothing. I spent the majority of the first week in basketball shorts and an XXXL t-shirt. 4. WALKING. This is the #1 cure for the gas. As hard as it may be try to walk as much as possible. All these things were crucial to my survival after surgery. Hope this helps.

    New feeling

I expire emcee the exact same thing today. I fixed myself two scrambled eggs and two potatoes worth of mashed potatoes. I ate both scrambled eggs and about 3 or 4 spoon fills of potatoes. I got that pain in my throat too and I thought it was just pain from it going down but after reading this post I realize now it was the full feeling. Glad I read this, really opened my eyes.
  11. Who has cheated on their post op diet? And with what.
  12. BigOBoy123

    Is this normal.

Thanks everyone. And Congrats MariMari15. Hoping for a speedy recovery for you.
  13. I am four days post op and according to my Doctors instruction I should be eating creamy soups with no chunks. The problem I am having is I am experiencing an acid reflux kind of symptom. I can feel almost every bite I eat as it goes down then it seems like it kinda rolls around and then I feel bubbles come back up my throat. What is causing this. I have no fill in my band so could this be due to the swelling in my stomach or what.
  14. I cheated on my pre op diet today and I feel horrible about it. Has anyone else cheated on their pre op liquid diet? I need some reassurnace right now. Have I completley screwed my surgery?

    Who has cheated?

Nope. Had my surgery Friday morning. I had lost 17lbs and to be honest I cheated a few times but with just a bite or two when I did cheat. My surgery went really well they said.
  16. I had my surgery the 21st too. I am finally over the gas pains and now I'm just dealing with the pain from the actual surgery. It is very tolerable but aggravating when moving at all. I had the OMG moment yesterday myself but I'm a lot better today. I look forward to the weight loss.
  17. Well I'm home from my surgery and I'm up pacing the floor trying to get the gas pains to subside cause they really suck. Mine feel like they are under my rib cage so I took 2 Gas-X chewables. I really hope they help. But the doc said everything went fine and I should be back to normal in a few days. Heck, I'm just glad to finally be able to post in the Post Op section of this website. LoL!

    Just hours after surgery.

very intense at times. Ended up having to sleep setting up in the bed. But this morning it's nowhere nearly as bad.

    Just hours after surgery.

Thanks everyone. I'm walking as we speak and holding my arms over my head does help as well as the deep breathes. Thanks again. In some pain, but I'm so excited at the same time.
  21. Well, it's the day of surgery and my nerves are definitely in full effect. My surgery is at 11:00 Am so if you happen to look at the clock at that time keep me in your thoughts. This will be the first surgery I have ever had in my life and I am kinda freaked out. I will try to post on here after my surgery and let everyone know how it went. Thanks for all the advice and well wishes. This has been the most helpful and informative website I have ever been on.
  22. Ok, My surgery is this Friday the 21st and i'm not dredding the actual surgery so much. But what has me worried is the Anasthesia. I have never been put under deep Anasthesia before. Infact the only time I have ever been put under was for my EGD for the Lap Band and that is a minimal amount and for a very bried amount of time. Here's my mindset, WHAT IF I DONT WAKE UP!!! I've heard of this happening to people before. Os thier a way they can be assured that I will wake up? This may sound comical but for me it is a really nail biter.

  24. I would say it varies depending on you iinsurance provider. I have BCBS FED and my out of pocket cost was $4,700. Best money I ever spent and I havent even had my surgery yet.

    Who has cheated?

WOW!! Thanks everyone for all the reassuring words. This makes me feel a lot better. Like I said, I have cheated but it was with good choices, like a salad with no meat whatsoever, and fat free low calorie dressing. I am so glad I found this forum, it means the world to be able to go through this with people that have been there and know what you are going through. My surgery is Friday the 21st and am so excited to get this done. Please keep me in you rprayers.
