Dr Christopher Reilly, TR in Houston, TX
Lady VS replied to Q3Carla721's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Lila, I'm surprised you weren't given any instructions on caring for your incisions. Call them in the morning and tell them so that they can instruct you on what to do. Congratulations on being banded. -

Awesome!!!

Yes it's normal. You'll experience pain in that area from time to time. Just keep taking it easy and following your doctor's orders. Continued success

Think of your band as a belt around your waist. As you lose weight you will need to adjust the belt to fit you. That's how the band works. It's a belt around your stomach. Instead of tightening it up per se, the saline tightens it. As we lose weight, there's a gap that needs to be filled which allows you to eat more. After you get your fill of saline, your band is tight again which aids in you not eating very much and being careful about what you eat so you won't get stuck. Hope this helps.

Good job!!!! Continued success.

Yes. You were swollen and have lost water weight. Your body has to adjust now to the changes you've undergone. You will begin to lose weight in time. Congratulations on being banded.

No weight loss for over a week
Lady VS replied to sleepy12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body has to adjust to all these changes that it's going through and these things take time. Make sure you're measuring your food and drink your water. Best wishes -
It's possible that you're still experiencing gas pains. I know some foods make us gaser than others. I'm not a medical professional so I'm now saying that's what it is but if it happens again I would call my surgeon to be on the safe side. Best wishes and continued success

I totally agree. I always correct the individual and say speak for yourself. Great topic
-
I totally understand what you're saying but I never discussed these issues with my kids until after my surgery because I could no longer eat the way I used to. I talked to my best friend but for the most part I kept everything to myself. It was easier that way.

Info Session tonight...finally getting started!
Lady VS replied to Gotchaby1's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Your doctor sounds a lot like my pcp. My problem is that I wanted to have surgery but it wasn't covered under insurance. I couldn't afford to self pay. Thanks to having a hernia I was able to finally get my band. I'm glad I have a 10 CC rather than the 4 CC that so many people have had problems with. Good luck to you. -
Just hang in there. Keep coming to the forum for your motivation. Continued success

Curious if your feet change after weight loss
Lady VS replied to DanaKat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes they certainly do. I went from a size 6 1/2 to a seven both wide withs. Now I'm back in my 6 1/2 medium. I still have to get a wide with in tennis shoes though. -
Congratulations on being banded. Yes unfortunately you're going to be hungry for a while. This stage is the hardest and most crucial part. I can't iterate enough how you mustn't deviate from your orders. Keep on sipping and you'll do just fine. Best wishes to you.

I just did what my bariatric team instructed me to do. It was hard but I was too scared to deviate that soon after surgery. I just kept drinking warm tea, broth, diet cranberry juice all day. Surprisingly, it kept me full. I must admit I was happy to reach the mushy phase. I tore up some mashed potatoes lol. Best wishes to you.
