    Plateaued for 4 months now

It's a month later, how are you doing?

    Banded yesterday!

Well congratulations to you and good luck on your journey. I unfortunately had the dreaded pains of gas. My shoulder pain was unbearable at times, but it eventually got better. Keep taking it easy.
  3. My doc and team suggests for me to way two hours after I eat. Unfortuantely, I am one that just doesn't follow the rules all the time and I always drink while I eat because sometimes my food will just sit in the stoma or inbetween the band and that is a painful feeling. So for my body, I drink Water to help my food pass through the band. I will wait at least two minutes or so before I continue to eat when that happens and I haven't had any dilation problems thank God. My band and method is fine. @Obieewok, I don't eat more if I drink with or without water. I eat the same regardless but that's me. @donna12, I guess you need to ask different surgeons to get the best answer. Only a surgeon can answer for him or herself. Just a friendly suggestion.
  4. I have never heard of this but I do think you are on the right track by seeing you doc's office. Take it easy until then and good luck. Hope you feel better.

    Encouragment....

As a newbie to this site and as I am reading different posts, I am noticing the same thing too. I'm not sure why the doctor's aren't explaining the process to the new banders as my doctor and team did with TrueResults. They made sure I understood what I was partaking and continue to care for me everymonth making sure that I am on the right track. Yes those of you who are frustrated, please be patient, I'm learning and finding that it will take some time to get to where we need to be. Everybody's body is different so because one person loses a tremendous amount of weight in a short period of time doesn't mean that you or I will. Lord knows I want and haven't. My body is a slow process although I think I would have reached my goal a long time ago but I have osteo which prevents me from working out like I used to. Therefore, I have to work extra hard at watching what I eat and how much or else I will not lose and reach my goal. It was very encouraging to hear my PA tell me that these last few pounds will be the hardest to lose but she is still proud of me nonetheless because I have come a long way. It has been over two years since I have been banded and I have now lost 70 pounds. I am so excited but I still have at least 11 to. I thought I would have lost it by now but oh well at the rate I'm going, I will get there by the first of the summer if I keep doing what I'm doing and that's being patient, watching my stress levels, and definitely watching what and how much you eat. Have patience my fellow bandsters and don't give up. Good luck to you all!!! huggs

    Erosion

Wow! I'm sorry to hear that. Your doctor when you were first being consulted about the band should have told you that any medications you take after you receive it should be very tiny, liquid, or chewables. From now on when you have to see your pcp or other physician, make sure you let them know you are banded so that they can prescribe you medication accordingly and if for whatever reason the pill is large, do like I do and cut them in half and take. They should be able to tell whether or not it is eroded with the upper GI. I sure hope it isn't. Just try and get back on track with eating healthy and smaller portion meals. Stop worrying and get back into practicing good habits. I hope it works out well. Please keep us posted. Good luck.

    Erosion

How long have you been banded?

    Flustered

Hello there. I didn't choose the band it chose me. I say that because I have been struggling with my weight for the past 19 years (since I had my first child). I have tried every diet and diet pill you can imagine. Some worked others didn't. I have lost weight and then gained it right back. I thought it was meant for me to be fat. So I gave up until I was told I had a hernia that needed repairing. I always new I didn't want my insides cut but left in tact so cutting and stapling was not an option. After the doctor repaired my hernia he slapped the band on too. I have been a happy camper ever since. No cons here either. Good luck with your decision and your journey.

So that's what feeling restriction is!

Hi Draven, I think if you follow what your doctor suggests, you will be fine. I think we have all been through that and come back out okay. Good luck.
  10. Me too; however, I can't eat bananas. I have to blend them with my Protein shake when I have a taste for it. I can't eat oranges either. But all other fruits and veggies, bread and cereals, etc. is okay. I just eat them in moderation.

    Protein pan cakes?

Hmmm interesting. I had never heard of them before. I've been wondering what else I could do with my protein mix. I will try this receipe this weekend. Thanks.

Drinking coffee with my protein shake

I am an avid coffee drinker so I will have my coffee and protein shake together for breakfast. And when I finish my protein shake, I drink a bottle of water, and then I go for my second cup of coffee. Good luck.

    very tired all the time?

My doc had me on a multivitamin since before my surgery and I have to continue taking it. I wasn't told to take B12. I will ask on my next visit because I'm tired quite a bit lately myself. Thanks for the tip.

    Oranges

I can't eat them because they don't go down so I drink orange juice instead. Gotta have my vitamin C.

    floro fills

We are only supposed to eat 1/2 cup of food. Eating 4 cups of food is way too much. If your doc is not listening to you the patient, then sounds like you need to change doctors. I hope you are able to get a fill soon, if not, maybe you need to search for another physician. Good luck.

    Vacation and the Lap Band

Aww that's great. Keep up the good work.
  17. If that were the case I think I would have been in the er well over a year ago. Thanks for your input but I'm fine.
  18. Hi there. We have the same band and had the same amount of solution in it until I got my fill last week. I only had .2cc put in to help with me being able to eat a whole junior bacon cheese burger too. LOL Don't feel bad. I have had the same feelings that you feel and it does come from forgetting to chew your food and taking smaller bites. In regards to taking meds, I cut mine in half even though the instructions say not too. I'm not trying to end up in the er because I tried to swallow a whole pill. When you go to your appointment, just ask for a couple of point ccs to help with you not eating that junk food we love so much and don't forget to chew, chew, chew. Good luck.

    Weight Gain

You're not a failure. You are doing great. I have been struggling for the past 8 months trying to lost 10 pounds that I gained last year. Well I finally did it but look how long it took 8 MONTHS! Since I got my fill last week, I have lost 2 pounds. I am very happy about that. Now in regards to the 8 months of the same weight, I think I was losing inches because I lost 2 clothing sizes even though I was weighing the same. I finally decided to stop looking at the scale and continue with my routine. Keep up the good work.

    Sooooo hungry!!!

Hello, unfortuantely, it is apart of the process. It was a very trying time going through that not eating food phase, but I promise you, you will make it through. I have to honestly say that I cheated a couple times inbetween. I ate mashed potatoes with gravy and lots of broccoli and cheese soup. Broth just wasn't getting for me and luckily my band and stomach/stoma was fine. Good luck.

    Reaching Your Goal

Hello and good morning to you as well. Thank you for responding and letting me know that. Ugh! I was feeling so bad that I had not met my goal yet. I'm 12 pounds away. I am loving my body as well. Good luck to you too. Thanks.

9 months of ups and downs

I like you have osteoarthritis very bad so exercising like the others are not an option for me. However, I do dance for 12 to 15 minutes depending on how I feel on a weekly basis and I do water exercises at the gym. That's it. No treadmill, bicycle, etc. Just water and dance. I too like my band on the tight side. For me, I am not in the red zone. I am eating smaller portion foods as I should was eating a lot more before I got my last fill. Not only do you want to let the band be in control, but remember, carbs are not our friend. Try and eat less carbs and more meat and veggies and you will see a difference. I know I have. Good luck to you.

    Laxative and lap band

Drinking 100% prune juice also helps. I just bought me another bottle. It's best to drink a cup every night before bed. Believe me, in the morn, you will not have a problem going to the restroom. LOL

    I lied. It sucks

I personally do not have a problem telling anyone who has complimented my weight loss and asked how did I do it? I love saying I had surgery and don't mind my coworkers knowing. We have luncheons quite a bit so there is no problem with them having meals planned with me in mind. I love it! I think it's all about your attitude and how you view self. Confidence is the key.
