  1. That's good. You know you can take some antacids when needed. I keep me a bottle by my bedside. I was doing fine until about two months ago. I'm three years post op and it just started all at once. So I started to pay attention to what I was eating that caused the heart burn. Sure enough, some spicy foods like chili and other sauces were doing it. I stopped eating them and now I'm fine. I think sometimes when I eat meat that's a little too greasy depending on how it's cooked, I will get a little heartburn. So I've been baking and grilling my meats and sticking to tuna in the package. Continued success and thanks for responding.

    First Fill - hungry

More than likely to walk to where the x-ray machine is located. I know for me, there were times when my PA would input the needle to do my fill or unfill in the exam room by places the needle in my port. I had to lye down for this. Then we would walk over to the x-ray room so I could do a barium swallow to make sure that the fill that was just down was not too tight. If it were the barium was going too slow, she would remove a little Fluid while in the x-ray room. If it was okay, then she would just take it out. So no, you don't keep it in you.

    Just a Little Hiccup

Yes ma'am. It is very normal. I hiccup on an empty stomach all the time since banded. It's not really a hiccup it's more like small burps which are of course gas bubbles being released. I haven't really researched it to find out why I just accept it as it is. It's nothing to worry about.

    Help, Band Question

You may need to have a small unfill to only about .1cc. I know I did many times. It takes longer but it works. Hope you feel better.
  5. I personally believe you are off to a good start. That is impressive that you have a book to read prior to your surgery. I had researched via the internet of course and went to a couple of seminars but that was about it. I learned everything else from my doctor's visits after surgery and then I was given my lapband book and kit to help me along the way. Good luck and congratulations on your new start.
  6. I never crushed my medication. I always cut them in half. I'm three years post op and still cut my pain pill in half. The others are small enough to swallow whole and my vitamins are the chewable gummy bear types.

Yes I have heard of that happening to people when they stop smoking. I'm glad that you have made the decision to get your life back on track. Congratulations.

    Chewing Gum

Same here. I never leave home without it. If I change my purse, my gum will be in it. I loves me my gum. It doesn't make me hungry nor has it ever.
  9. I know this is a couple weeks old but was wondering if you received any relief?
  10. After so many failed diets and wasting money on diet pills I looked into wls several years ago but my insurance didn't cover it. Fast forward to three yrs ago and I was diagnosed with a hiatial hernia. That is how I was able to have my lapband placed so that insurance would cover the bulk of the cost.
  11. Interesting concept. Hmm
  12. How cool!!! Congratulations and continued success.
  13. It's not just a sleeve thing it's a lost weight thing. I too am always cold. I'm under a blanket and my feet are like ice. It's my new normal.

    Finally banded today!

    Congratulations on being banded.
  15. It gets better in time and with more adjustments. Just be patient. Congratulations on what you've lost so far.
  16. And that is great. You are expected to only lose 4-8 pounds within a months time. Congratulations!! There were months that I only lost a pound then there were some in which I gained. You are not going to just drop weight with the band. It is designed to help you eat differently with lower portions of food. Once you get accustomed to that you will consistently lose. You are doing fine. Don't worry.

    Off limit foods ?

I had never eaten sushi before ever because I knew it was raw fish. The thought of that just made me want to barf. However my daughter tried it after going to college and loved it and suggested I try it. Well I finally did at a Christmas party and loved it. I only ate two but had no problems as they were prepared very soft. I actually can no longer eat oranges and bananas unless they are blended and most pastas. Everything else I can do but I take my time and chew so I won't get stuck. Just follow your meal plan and you will be successful.
  18. I'm 5'1 and my highest weight was 231. I'm now 142 which is below my goal of 150 but I also have the band.
  19. I too suffer from insomnia. I realized just a few days ago that I wake up often during the night when I don't eat very much during the day. However if I go to bed with a full stomach, I sleep like a baby.

    Time Length of First Fill

I received my fill at 4 weeks post op. Remember everybody's body is different as well as our surgeons. You're off to a great start.
