Yes, it is an adjustment period. In time it gets better. Good luck with your surgery.

Lady VS replied to terrydumont46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can't answer your question but praying all goes well. -
I just started eating the ready made meals just a month ago. I didn't for the first three years. I only get them for the meat as most of them come with either pasta or potatoes for which both are no nos for me.

Hiatal hernia and banding
Lady VS replied to aubreynichole's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too had the hiatial hernia repair with my lapband surgery. That was three yrs and one month ago and I honestly don't recall hurting in more than I'm sure I would have without the repair. I haven't had any complications. -
I think you should post this in the band to sleeve forum.

Just got approved.. Nerves kicking in!
Lady VS replied to Kandy12's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Unfortunately that's a decision that only you can make. After all it is your body. Do your research and make your decision. Best wishes -
Wow sweetie I feel for you. I know you loved your band but have you considered or thought about the sleeve? We certainly can't do this thing alone. Hope you can make that decision. I wouldn't want you being infected again either. Good luck.

That is wonderful to hear. I didn't read or join any forums until almost two years after I was banded so I totally understand. Awesome news!!! -
How was your 2013 and what do you look forward to in 2014?
Lady VS replied to Jim1967's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well my 2013 was not as impressive as yours Jim but I am happy that in June I was able to park and walk several blocks for a conference without getting tired. As you all know, I have osteoarthritis in over 50% of my body and I walked the whole distance from the parking lot to the convention center. Again several blocks plus walking all over the Convention Center itself which is pretty huge. That was in June. Then the very next month, I reached my goal after two and half years from having my surgery. Not sure if all that walking had anything to do with it. Actually I just realized that as I'm typing. Hmmmm!!!!! I dropped well not sure how many clothing sizes. All I know is, it was a blessing and I'm grateful. As for 2014, I just hope to maintain until whenever. I don't really do resolutions I just take each day as they come. -
Sounds like a good dinner. I have 7 ccs in a 10 cc band. You are very welcome. That's what we are here for. To help and learn. Good luck on your journey.

Sure. Two cups of coffee every morning including weekends to start. Monday-Friday varies because of work. Usually after coffee I will have my protein shake made with 1 scoop of whey protein mix, ice, greek yogurt with fruit, and almond milk. If, which is not all the time. If I get hungry before lunch, I will have a cheese stick. Lunch will then be 1 four ounce baked fish fillet with a lettuce, tomato, cheese, bacon bits, and bell pepper salad with ranch dressing. Some days I can eat all my salad other days I cannot. Supper will then be a small chili with cheese and onion from Wendys. or some type of Mexican food. I love Mexican food. Some days it may be a beef Gordita. If I eat out with my SO, we share a beef and chicken fajita platter for which I will eat the Charro beans, some meat, with guacamole and pico de gallo so I can have the left overs for lunch the next day. It sounds like a lot but I nibble. Other evenings I will cook me a turkey patty with cheese and no sides. Everyday is different and depends on my mood. If I crave a hamburger, I will get one. I usually purchase the $2 bacon McDouble and I only eat one bun. I can't eat two and will have a few French fries. That's only when I crave which is not often. Other mornings if I'm feeling hungry I will eat eggs with bacon. This past week I shied away from my norm and actually bought Weight watchers dinners for breakfast and Lean Cuisin meals for lunch. They have the ounces on the box so I don't usually eat it all. I only get them for the variety of meats and green vegies not so much for the potatoes or pasta which most of them have. I try to avoid those. I hope this helps.

LOL love this post!!!!!

Each meal. They should be 1/2 cup to 1 cup or as my doctor told me, no more than 4 ounces total. That includes protein (meat), veggies, and fruit. I usually don't eat all that. It's too much at one time.

I can't say that I have had this to happen but am glad you sought medical advice. Hope you feel better.

First of all, congratulations on losing 50 pounds. That is impressive. After we lose weight, our bodies have to adjust as to what the heck is going on. Ergo a plateau. They happen periodically on the weight loss journey. So this is not your first and probably will not be your last. I'm not sure about your exercise regime, but you may want to change it up, start, or stop it altogether for a day or two. Or bodies do need a break and rest. You may also need to change what foods you eat and when you eat them. These were small changes that I made to get out of my plateaus. I hope this helps. Continued success for you and your husband.

I wish I hadn't gotten the band
Lady VS replied to maestrita's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All I can say is I'm sorry that this has happened to you. I am curious to know what caused the slip? I have had my band now for three years and I'm trying with everything that's in me to not have any complications so I am very concerned at this point. -
If I recall, you should not be trying to eat this early in the game. You just had surgery 5 days ago and should still be on liquids for 7 days. It is suggested by Dr. Paul O'Brien, one of the top leading LapBand doctors in the world, to have soup that can be pureed, low fat yogurt, milk, v-8, eggnogs, fruits in liquid form, fruit juice unsweetened, and puree food in liquid form. You can also make a smoothie with the milk, yogurt and fruit. This is for the first seven days only. You should then progress to soft foods for the period your doctor told you and so on and so forth. I hope this helps. Please take it easy and do not rush your progress.

This is a question I am noticing consistently coming up. It takes a while before one can get the type of restriction that will limit you from eating or drinking more than we were instructed to. Usually 3 to 5 fills. Everybody's body is different. Just because you can gulp or eat more doesn't mean that you should. Your stoma shouldn't be stretched. Your body is still adjusting to what you have endured only two months ago. It takes time. Please be patient and continue to follow your doctor's orders. As long as you are losing weight is the main thing because that is the point. Losing weight. Continued success.

Undecided...looking at lap band vs gastric sleeve
Lady VS replied to Susanparvin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well I wasn't at a starting weight of where you are but for my height I was considered morbidly obese nonetheless. All I can say is continuously do your research, ask your or different surgeons their opinions. How the surgery is done, continue to read this board etc. You have to make a decision based on your lifestyle. I chose the band because I didn't want any of my organs cut. Period!!!!! So that is something to consider. If they aren't broke, don't need to fix them. I have had my band for three years, one month, one week and one day. I am soooo happy I have it. It is the best thing that I have done for myself. I finally reached my goal in July and I am maintaining pretty well. I am actually planning to see my doctor next month for a six month check up. I don't need to but I just want to. Anyway, good luck in making your decision. You have definitely been giving wealth of experience already. Cheers
