Today started off less than favorable...
aeromech replied to aeromech's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you are correct, I crushed mine and put it in my shake, it gave me a huge head rush. My. Mother-in-law told me it was because it gets absorbed faster just in your mouth. -

Which Tylenol do you buy? Thinking about getting some just in case I need it. -

Went to church and had a coffee from thier coffee shop and sat thru the service, we even did communion today(had a very small piece, took like 20min to dissolve). Everything feels ok now. I currently haven't had any pain meds or pain for that matter. Guess I just have to get used to my body doing it's thing in the morning. -
I'm a March 20th bander too. I'm planning on going back to work Monday or Tuesday depending how I feel. Gas pains are pretty much gone. Overall discomfort from surgery is not there. Slight pressure where the port is though. Metamucil is the worst idea ever for a banded person. The powder gells up and stops up the opening like a cork. Very uncomfortable. Others on the site have been saying they use a non-gelling one from costco. My biggest problem is that I can't get enough calories in, like maybe 300 a day.

That's just awesome!!

You are swollen from irritation and should be on liquids. My Dr. usually puts people in this situation on liquids for about a week. Take it easy and you will go back to normal.

Post-op I would say no gelling type fiber drinks like metamucil. I had an incident and it was completely uncomfortable, had to PB it.

Didn't get sutures, they used dermabond instead. Nothing like good ole super glue.... Lol

Make sure you watch that leg, if it swells and or changes color you need attention fast. It could then be a blood clot. I don't want to scare you, but I was warned about it because of the anesthesia. Water and walking was what they told me to do to guard against it. But then again it could be from them moving you from bed to bed.

I got 4 incisions, never touched my belly button and fixed the hernia too. It has to do with the position of your organs and routing of the band with the tubing.

Banded yesterday, ahhhh! I did it!!

Drinking plenty of water helps too, it's best to do water, walk and gas-x all together. -
I was allowed a protein of 4-6oz if u had to chew something, but the last 2 days on pre-op I went for complete liquids.

Try drinking mint tea. It's a natural anti-nausea. -
Everything should go smoothly, I was out and woke before I knew what happened. They fixed a hernia too. It was actually a pretty good experience for me. Let us know how you are doing.

Getting nervous and low grade fever
aeromech replied to nicolelmartinez's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given antibiotics via IV during the surgery. It's kind of a good thing this happened, just for the fact that you need to be willing to call your doctor about anything. They are there to help you through your journey. Don't be afraid to call them. -
Liquids getting stuck? Whate wrong?

Another thing to take into consideration is making sure to take the full minute between swallows when taking your pills. I didn't get liquid prescriptions, I got pills, they got stuck day 3 post-op and I had to have 1cc removed from the band. It was instant relief! So I am learning the hard way. It doesn't matter what you swallow, make damn sure you wait that minute between swallows. As far as just drinking Water, I still have to wait because I get a burbling noise as the water goes down and the excess air comes out. It's all a weird experience. Gotta get used to it though. -
My wife did the same thing as I am too.. Lol

3/20 here, I'm right there with you on the limited pain. I had a hernia repair during surgery as well.

March 2013 Surgery Dates?
aeromech replied to ShannaS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You probably have heard it, but make sure to get your Water in with walking and gas-x. It is amazing how just 5 minutes of walking can change how the gas pains feel. I also recommend using a heating pad on the tummy area and a pillow over it to keep a bit of pressure. That helps tremendously as well for any uncomfortable moments. It totally gets better! Let us know how you are doing as you progress. -
Lol, it's usually on the right side near the bigger incision area. Not really painful as much as a pressure feeling. Kinda hard to describe. My wife tells me it's painful when our chihuahua steps on hers though... Lol

FYI metformin tastes nasty crushed and taken in water!
