Post Op Diet?? What was on your menu?
lilmispcl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my surgery date set for April 5th. I start my pre-op diet on March 25th. I am just curious what the immediate post op diet is like? I have heard liquids for a few weeks, then "mushies"? What was on your post op menu for the first several weeks? -
Anyone get their band at True Results in Dallas, TX? Surgery Center of Richardson
lilmispcl replied to lilmispcl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
What is the post-op diet??? I am most worried about learning to slow down when I eat. I do childcare out of my home and I am soooo used to shoving food down as fast as I can so I can actually eat it at the temp its supposed to be wether hot or cold. LOL ... but I'm so excited about having this tool to help me get back the spunky me that is burried under all this extra weight! I will do whatever I've got to do. When you say you aren't in the green zone, does that mean you are hungry all the time? -

Txmama, I just scheduled my surgery with Dr Marsden for April 5th! So happy to find someone who is a recent patient of his!! Congrats on your success!! Is that 30 pounds since surgery or since the start of the preop diet? -
I was just approved through care credit for $11,700 (if only that was enough to cover my surgery!! UGHH) and I'm wondering if anyone has used Care Credit and what your monthly payment is. I know the interest rate is going to be 14.9% but it didnt give me any info other than "low monthly payments". If you used Care Credit, how much did you charge and what's your monthly payment?

WOW!! That is great success and soooo inspiring! Where do I find the 8 golden rules? I am sooo happy I found this website. It was through someone I met here that I am saving $8,020 on the surgery! -
Thanks for the post! Very motivating! Can't wait to read your post in June letting all of us know you did it!

AWESOME!!! That is definitely doable!! So how long did it take you to find your green zone and how long did it take you to hit your goal weight? I know everyone is different but I also feel like (from everything I have read) the band is a tool and if you use it properly it WILL work. I am sooo ready to lose this weight for life and know that I will always have this tool to help me! -

Thank you for your input!! It makes me feel better hearing from people who know! Congrats on all your loss...you look FABULOUS! I am sooo excited! I am not sure if I will go to Dallas for after care. I was planning on spending $18k locally and finding it for under 10k with about a 7 hour drive or 1 hour flight has definitely changed my plans. I think that I will plan to go to Dallas for aftercare but if I need to see someone before I can make it down there then I will see the doc here for $250....still saving a TON of money! Can you tell me about aftercare? Like do you need spontaneous care or are they visits that can be scheduled weeks in advance? -
I am so devastated at the moment! I had my consultation, physical and lab work...everything was given the green light. I just needed to provide the financing, I thought I had it worked out through a family member financing and she was denied as a cosigner. Apparently my credit is great but my income is too low (I have my own business so my taxes show little income after right offs) .. well my cosigner makes a very high salary but her credit score was not as good as mine. The loan agent said my cosigner's credit score has to be better than mine "which is going to be hard to do" .... well that was nice to hear but also completely crushed me. SOOOO...now what? Ughh. Im feeling sooo sick. Praying that my cosigner can just take out a personal loan from her bank and although the interest will be a lot higher at least I would still be able to have the Lap Band.

That is awesome!!! I'm no doctor but I'm sure the exercise will only help! Super excited for you! -
THank you for the info!!!! Did you know before hand that you had the Hiatal Hernia? I need to get one of those! LOL You are the second person that has told me about it!
-
Yeah for paying it off!!! If you don't mind me asking, how much was your total cost? $266 sounds like a doable payment for me.
-
Ohhh if only I had some equity in my home!! I am one of the lucky ones that bought the year before the market tanked.
-
I am pre-op and have NO questions about my pre-op diet but I am wondering what are some of the favorite meals of you bandsters??
-
That is soooo great!! How long have you had your band?

I am going to order the sample pack tomorrow. I cringed at the thought of the chicken soup one but it has excellent reviews online. Now i think it sounds like a nice change from the typical shake. I'm also keen on the idea of the unflavored in coffee! Can't wait to give them a try. I've got to find some favorites before I go on my one week liquid pre-op diet!

Anyone reach their goal? but the doctor said...
lilmispcl replied to Wanna-Be-Healthy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
GREAT QUESTION!! I wondered the same thing and just figured it was an average and I am happy to hear the responses support my idea that it would be up to me to lose everything I want to lose. I just had my consultation today and physical today. Will have the lab results tomorrow and hopefully funding as well since I am self-pay.... I am praying to have a surgery date scheduled by Friday!! I will be so excited if I can get the band for my birthday on March 23rd!! I already received my pre-op diet info and only have to do 5 days liquid then 2 days clear liquid before surgery!!! I have never looked forward to a pure liquid diet like I am now! -
HELLO! NEW HERE! Scared to try Lap Band! Any stories to go for or against would be SOO HELPFUL!
lilmispcl replied to CWinkler340's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Christa! There are LOTS of video blogs on Youtube and I have spent weeks watching video after video and have found so many common factors among the success stories. I feel like the complications are out there no matter what method of weight loss you choose....or don't choose. I have been considering the band for several years and put it off due to the "risks" ... but those risks are a slim possibility and I know that the risks that come with being overweight are guaranteed for me at this point. So, I'm choosing to take the risk and do EVERYTHING I can do be a success story. There is risk in everything we do in life and I want to be out there experiencing life instead of hiding at home in shame. I can not wait to get my band. I think that once you decide you will know without a doubt you are doing the right thing for yourself...you shouldn't make the decision to do it until you are confident because it is a big commitment. -
What did you tell you family/friends?
lilmispcl replied to charlibell's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just starting my journey. In fact I am outside the clinic now waiting for my 2pm appointment. Once I have a surgery date I plan to be completely honest and tell anyone that inquires. I want to be an inspiration to anyone that has these struggles and I don't want to give anyone false hope that just diet and exercise is always enough because some people need additional help. Lap band is a tool and I am going to be proud to use the tool available to help me have a healthier life. People don't think twice about getting breast implants these days and that's all vanity...it's so sad the social stigma that comes with weight issues. I hope to be a "poster child" success story for Lapband! I wish everyone on this journey much success! We are in this together and only we can truly understand what this journey feels like. -
Hi, I have my first consultation with Surgical Weight Loss Centers tomorrow. I am super nervous and very excited. I am just wondering if there is anyone on here who has dealt with SWLC? About 2 years ago I went to my primary care physician for help with my weight and I was absolutely humiliated and put on anti-depressants instead of receiving help for my weight issues. I took the pills for a while and decided that was not the way I wanted to handle things. I need help not medication. So I stopped taking the pills and have not gone back to the DR. I am hoping that going to an office that specializes in weight loss, I may be treated with respect. One can hope, right??

Congratulations! That is great news! Sorry I can't answer any of your questions since I haven't even met with the surgeon yet. I have my first consultation tomorrow! -
Anyone familiar with Surgical Weight Loss Centers? Springfield, MO or Overland Park, KS
lilmispcl replied to lilmispcl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Sounds exactly like what I am hoping to experience! Thanks for the encouragement! I am hoping for surgery as soon as possible. Do you have to do a low cal diet for a couple of weeks followed by a pure liquid diet for a week before the surgery?
