    Pre Op Diet

I have been looking into this as an option for years as well. I really wanted to do it on my own but I need help. To me Lap band will be just that....help. It is NOT going to do the work for me but I am praying that if I follow the instructions I am given it will be a tool to help me stay at a healthy weight for the rest of my life. It is going to be a hard journey but everything worth having is worth working for. I am so ready.
  3. Thanks for the info! I am nervous because I am having surgery on a Friday morning and I fly home on Monday at 10am. I hope that's enough time to handle the flight. The flight is only 1 hour and 10 minutes. My patient advocate said I should be fine by Monday....any thoughts?
  4. How many follow up visits did you go to in your first year?

    Pre Op Diet

I'm pretty sure we are all the same in the fact that we have done it without the lap band many times for many years and we are unable to sustain success. I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience. complications are a risk but a very small percentage of people have complications.

    Worst Week EVER...

What an amazing display of willpower! You rocked it! Have you tried Unjury protein powder? They have a chicken soup flavored one that has excellent reviews. I havent tried it yet but I will next week. I start my pre-op diet on Monday so it is on my menu! Just thought it might be a nice change from the sweet ones. Also, an idea that I got from a post here...when you are having a rough week or feeling tugged on by temptation go through and look at photos of yourself and remember why you are doing this. I know that will really help keep me on track. Best wishes! Looking forward to keeping up on your success!

    Pre Op Diet

me too!! I start mine on Monday but my surgery is April 5th. What is on your pre-op menu??
  10. Congrats! I'm counting the days! Keep us posted on how you are feeling.
  11. I brewed a cup of decaf coffee and put it in the blender with 8 oz of milk and a cup of ice and blended it up then I poured 8 oz of that mixture into my shaker bottle and added one scoop of Unjury Chocolate Splendor. It was really good. I just refrigerated the left over coffee mixture for my afternoon shake. I like Unjury protein powder the best so far.

How Do You Make a Smoothie?

I always use spinach in mine too. I have a ninja blender and it is very high powered...you don't have to trim the stems and you can not tell its in there. You can even throw in apples with the peel and it tears them up too! LOL .. I prefer baby spinach because it has a sweeter flavor.

    3 months post op

Awesome! Definitely a noticeable difference! Keep it up! How great that must feel! I can't wait to get my band!
  14. I hate it when people tell me that too! I have been struggling with weight for so long and I always lose some then gain it all back plus more. I wish I would have done this surgery about 2 years ago when I first wanted to. Only 2 more weeks to wait!! I'm ready!
  15. Congrats! Glad to hear you are doing so well fresh out of surgery! I am scheduled for April 5th and can't wait. Hope your recovery is a breeze!!! Keep us posted on your progress!!!
  16. I feel the same way!! Can't wait to get this done!!

  18. I am having surgery April 5th. I keep reading that the "pouch" will hold about 2 ounces of food. Then I read that our portions after surgery should be 1 cup of food 3 times per day. How does one cup ( 8 ounces) of food fit into a 2 ounce pouch?

    Clear to Zumba

Goalseeker, I have been thinking about insanity but wasn't sure if I would be able to do it. If you dont mind me asking, what was your weight when you started it?
  20. Oh man this topic thread had me cracking up! LOL for real! Thank you everyone for your witty replies! Laughter is great for the soul! Auto correct is a pain but it sure is good for a laugh now and then. Congrats on the mushy phase!! Best wishes!!
  21. Hi! I am not banded yet but I have read several posts on here by people who had stalled weightloss if they were eating less than 1000 calories per day. Once they got back up to eating at least 900 to 1000 they began to lose weight again. Im sure it is different with everyone ... I pray that I find my groove quickly after surgery! I have my surgery on April 5th. Best wishes!

    I'm confused about portion size...help?

Thanks! I just read a link that you posted about "restriction" and it made sooo much sense. Measure your portion, eat slow and walk away. I was comforted by the article because I am afraid of the "hard stops" ... I like the idea of measuring, eating and walking away much more than eating til I "feel full" and not being successful because the stomach stretches. It was a very informative read! Thank you for sharing it!
  23. I start my pre-op diet on Monday the 25th. I have been trying some different brands of protein shakes. I just got a delivery of the Unjury powder starter pack with 2 of each of the flavors they offer. Hope they are tasty. I'm in Missouri but traveling to Texas for surgery. Kind of nervous about that and aftercare. I would feel better if I knew I could go in for my aftercare whenever I wanted at no additional cost for the first year....I will either have to travel back to Dallas or pay $250 per visit locally. BUT...the surgery is half the cost in Dallas vs. locally.
  24. I am booked for April 5th too! I am soooo excited and have also found this website to be incredibly helpful. Best wishes for you!! Maybe we can keep in touch and help each other as we will be going through this at the same time!
