  1. How about the Viactive Chews for Calcium? I also started those pre-op but have been scared to take them since surgery.
  2. I was banded on the 5th too! I have lost 20 pounds since I started the pre-op diet on March 25th. About 5 pounds is post surgery loss. I didn't lose anything the first 3 days after surgery but the last few days I have lost about a pound a day. I am on a liquid diet for a couple more days then on to mushies. I have been making sure to get my protein in through Atkins Day Break shakes as they are low carb and also using Unjury Vanilla powder in my coffee. I am currently looking for low carb mushy ideas if anyone has any!?
  3. Who did your surgery in Texas? I had mine on April 5th at True Results in Dallas/Richardson with Dr. Marsden.
  4. One week POST-OP... doing great! Just pain in the muscle around my biggest incision. :(

  5. The stomach bug has attacked everyone in my house. I just had surgery yesterday and I'm scared to go home and catch a bug that is going to make me vomit!

    Stomach flu going around

I'm praying its gone before I go home on Monday. It seems to last about 24 hours but my daughter is probably next. I'm supposed to go home Monday. Ugggh
  7. Got my band 4 hours ago and I'm at my hotel relaxing. So far the only issue is the gas release. Can't wait for that to be gone!! Once this groggy feeling goes away I am going for a little walk. :$ super excited!
  8. Amazing! I am having surgery in 3 hours and this is just what I needed to see! Thank u!

  12. Super excited for you! I am scheduled for April 5th! Started my preop diet Monday and down 6.6 pounds. Can't wait to be on the other side!

  14. Yesterday was day one of my pre-op diet, which in my opinion is way easier than the full liquid diet and I was still struggling all day. I am happy that this morning I was down 4.4 pounds which I realize is probably Water weight but whatever it made it feel that yesterdays misery was worth it. I don't expect those results every day but it should help get me through today! Keep at it. It is going to be hard but sooo worth it in the end!

    Fiber supplements???

Anyone take any fiber supplements? I am worried that the increase in protein in my diet is going to make things difficult in the restroom. I am scheduled for surgery on April 5th. I start my preop diet on Monday. I bought some chewable fiber supplements but not sure about these for after surgery. Any advice or suggestions in this area would be appreciated.
  16. I was planning to have surgery locally and it was $18k. I was not able to get financing for the whole thing. I was approved through care credit for $11,700 and decided to travel to Dallas to have my surgery with True Results for $9,980. It is a 30 minute drive then an hour flight. Definitely worth the savings. Even if I have to pay for the first year of aftercare locally ($250 per visit) I will still spend WAY less than the $18k I thought I was going to pay.

    PALEO w/Lapband?

I have eaten paleo for stretches of time. I LOVE it and feel my best when I eat Paleo. It's just a hard transition but so worth it to be free of processed foods. I feel bad because I get sucked back in to processed stuff when I'm in a hurry and have to feed the kids. IP-LB...do you do Cross Fit?? That is on my list of things to try after I lose a bit of weight.
  19. I am scheduled for lap band surgery April 5th. I am flying from Branson, MO to Dallas to have surgery with Dr. Marsden in Richardson TX with True Results. I have struggled with weight loss for almost 20 years now and can relate to so many of the stories I have read on this site. I have been looking into Lap Band for a couple of years now and I'm ready to take the plunge. I am nervous because the success is so widely varied but I am praying that my determination will be enough that this tool will enable me to be successful for the rest of my life. I start my 11 day pre-op diet in the morning. I am happy to see that it seems less harsh than most I have come across on this forum. I have been instructed to eat 4 meals per day, 2 of which are Protein shakes the other can be my choice of 2: Yogurt, fruit, whole grain Cereal, toast, muffin, bagel, waffle, and the 4th meal should be 4-6 ounces of lean meat and a serving of a green vegetable. I stocked my fridge with everything I will need for the next10 days before I fly to Dallas. I am blessed to have a great support system at home and pray that my surgery team is amazing. I am also very glad to have found this site with so many inspiring stories to help keep me motivated. God Bless!

To weigh or not to weigh?

I weigh myself daily....in the morning before I hop in the shower. I feel that I need to keep a close eye on it. I expect fluctuations but also need to see the downward trend to keep on track.
  22. 10 Day Pre-op diet starts in the morning! Countdown has begun!

Still a long way to go.... But

Awesome! Keep up the good work! It's paying off!

    Fiber supplements???

I am mainly worried about immediately following surgery during the liquid and mushy stage. I'm hoping my Dr says I can have smoothies because I LOVE green smoothies and I'm sure that will help.
  25. I'm looking into traveling from MO to Dallas, TX for my lap band surgery. I am self pay and the cost is almost half what they want where I live! Crazy! Anyway, I would appreciate any feedback anyone has regarding this facility! Thanks!
