I just started this! I tried to do it at the indoor track where I walk and quickly found that my knee is not up to the task (old injury)...at least not at this weight. I hope that when I reach my goal weight I will be able to run. BUT... I did decide to try it on my elliptical and it is SOOOO great. I am only on day 2 but I love that I can push myself to run during the run intervals. I sweat like a total pig...its awesome!

Ellipticals ass!!! Please share in my excitement!! Last time I used my elliptical 5 months ago I could not even do 3 minutes at 2.5 MPH. I have not gotten on it in so long because I was afraid of it. Lol I started walking 6-7 nights a week (I'm in my 3rd or 4th week) and tonight I didn't feel like I got enough time in walking at the track so I decided to give my elliptical a whirl. I was so happy! I was able to go 4.5 mph for 12 straight minutes and only stopped because I had to get my kids in bed! It felt AMAZING!! I am so pumped and can't wait to get back on it!!!

I can't stand missing a day of walking! My husband believes your body needs a day of rest. I don't thinks so...it's had YEARS of rest! It's not like I'm body building or doing intense exercise ... I just want to be active. Everyday! So I went for a walk ... In my flip flops so I could tell him it didn't count as exercise! Lol just did a mile and half in the neighborhood. (25 minute stroll) It was beautiful out and I feel great for doing it!

I definitely haven't hit a plateau. The walking is definitely increasing the progress and I feel GREAT!! I don't want to take a day off from walking. I love it and totally look forward to going! I actually read Chris's book and I am doing the carb cycling but I am not doing his work out regimen right now. I tried it for a day and my back was killing me from laying on the floor doing the crunches and my knee was killing me from squats. I like the intensity variations he talks about and was planning to start the couch 2 5k plan but quickly found that my knee ( I had surgery on my right knee) was not up for the task. I am hoping that as more weight comes off I am able to run. But for now walking is working like a charm. I am walking at about 4.5 miles per hour maybe faster. I have been using endomondo to track but I dont think the GPS works properly indoors on the track I use. I need to find a better tracking system... I lose count going around the track. LOL Thanks for the kind words...I am super excited with my progress and am getting close to "Onederland"! I can't wait! You are doing great too! Excited to see how the summer treats you!!

Interesting article on various aerobic exercises
lilmispcl replied to catfish87's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I enjoyed this article! Thank you for sharing. I have been doing the "power walking" and I actually own a very high quality elliptical trainer but I have only used it a handful of times in the 16 months I've owned it. Maybe after reading this article I will give it another go! -
40lbs lost yet I dont see a thing!
lilmispcl replied to koolkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost 50 pounds and unless I look at a side by side before and after pic I dont see that much of a difference. I can tell in my face and hands and i have gone down 2 sizes but the pictures are what reassures me. It's really quite amazing. If you haven't put a before and after pic together, do it. It's not too late. Even if you dont have an old pic take one today and look at it next to a pic a month from now. -
About 3 hours. I'm in a town just south if Springfield

I have had a couple strange NSV's lately too...the necklace I wear every day hangs into my cleavage now....LOL guess Im losing weight in my neck! And this one was really weird when I noticed it...when I wash my face now I can feel my cheek bones and jaw line. It was an awesome realization when it happened! Keep sharing your Silly NSV's! They are motivational and fun to hear!!

Walking outdoors here in MO can be brutal too! I am soooooo fortunate that we have a REALLY nice community center with an indoor track and they have childcare. So rain, humidity, heat..whatever the weather I have NO excuse! I'm sooo happy with it!

I love swimming too but I dread the bathing suit. Hoping to be over that hurdle before summer is over.

Pretty sure head hunger never goes away. I have going that if I cut out junky carbs my cravings do go away but as soon as I eat junk they come back with a vengeance! High protein really helps keep u satisfied for a long time.

I maked an iced coffee protein shake every morning. 8 to 12 oz of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1 scoop of Isopure Chocolate protein powder, 2 tsp of folgers crystals, 1 packet of Stevia.... in my blender bottle I shake it up then fill with ice and shake a little more. WAAAAALAAAAH. I love it!

I needed something to keep me from binge eating. I can diet with the best of them but at some point my emotions would get the best of me and I would eat way too much. I've always had trouble with portion control. I chose lap band because it was the least invasive, quick recovery time and its a tool to HELP me change my life. The band isn't going to do it for me and that gives me a huge sense of accomplishment. So far I am overjoyed with my choice! I make healthy choices and the band keeps me from bothering with a buffet no matter how stressed I get!
