  1. For those of you using the program, is there a way to sort through the food lists? Since anyone can post a food, there are tons of repeats; same thing posted a different way. I can be looking for the MOST simple thing, and have to scroll through tons of whatever to find it. For instance.... plain brown rice. First I get all of the companies that make brown rice; brown rice pilaf, brown rice with this that or the other thing. Would be great to be able to cut to the chase

    New here

Congratulations on taking a huge step toward a healthier YOU. As Kime-lou said, try not to stress out too much (even though it comes with the territory). Between your doctor and his/her staff....AND this site, you will have plenty of support. It can be a bit of a roller coaster ride in the beginning, but then you get into a new rhythm & it becomes the new "normal".

    Hit my 1st goal

CONGRATS - I know how happy you must feel! Good job!!
  4. Well, I FINALLY broke the 200 mark this morning. Albeit, only by 1 pound, but I haven't seen that number in a few years. SO happy! Did I say how much I love my band?!!!!
  5. CONGRATS! I had the same celebration this morning, too. 199.6 Good job!!
  6. OMG - aside from everything else I relate to on your list (from past loss of large amounts of weight), this one really struck a chord. I use bath sheets, and there was a time where I thought they might be shrinking. REALLY?! I looked in the mirror with such disgust, knowing well and good that the damn thing can't shrink! I'm glad to say, it's wrapping around a lot better today, than it did pre-op
  7. GoalSeeker - you look FABulous! And thanks so much for the post. It's so motivating and helpful to hear the success stories. Today, I thank the lap band for giving me hope; something I lost over the past few years

Exercise: When does it get easier?

I'm tired just reading about it
  9. The "moving" has really amped this up a bit. I started going to physical therapy twice a week, and that's made a big difference. When I'm there, I'm on the treadmill or bike for about 20 minutes, then they work me out. I'm noticing a big change, and it's helping me with my back and hip.....which is the reason I started going to begin with. They keep telling me "just walk" and you'll notice a big difference. Good luck to you!
  10. Well, it was really by .4 this morning, but I drank Water before weighing, so knocked off .6 for that, to make it an even 1 - LOL!
  11. Me too! And that's really been my goal since being banded. Even if it goes slow, as long as it's going in the OTHER direction, I'm good!
  12. Thanks.....it's been such a long time since I've seen that "1", and now I feel that I'm really on my way. Each pound from here feels like the home stretch, even though I still have 50 to go

    Skipping meals

If you've gone hours without eating, and you're still not hungry, I would recommend eating a small meal. If you don't eat, your metabolism is going to think that you're on starvation mode, and dramatically slow down. Eating next to nothing can actually stop you from losing weight. Eat your three small meals a day & be done with it. Or, if you REALLY can't stomach eating, have a protein shake. And if you're having issues with eating overall, call your doctor. You might need a band adjustment.
  14. LOL - I love a good sense of humor!
  15. When I read this stuff, it really pisses me off. You are NOT selfish, but your husband is! I'm in total agreement with everyone above....your health is PRICELESS! Your husband better watch out, because if you choose to go through with the surgery, and bloom into a total bombshell, you just might have to kick him to the curb! Sorry for being so outspoken about your hubby, but I can't imagine being married to someone who puts my health and well being SECOND to a fricken patio!
  16. I posted a couple of days ago about left upper arm/shoulder pain after my second fill. I emailed the doctor this afternoon, and he said that I need another upper GI swallow, and if that's okay, then he'll do an upper endoscopy to make sure everything is okay. I think I'm a bit freaked out because his office called me rather immediately, and got me in to an imaging center Monday morning. Geez......I did not have any of this pain until after that second fill. I hope this isn't the start of lap band complications. I was doing great until this..

    A Little Freaked Out.....

Jeez - they really need to talk to their receptionist about not projecting probabilities. That is a long time to go, thinking that the worst is coming! At LEAST transfer you to a nurse!

    A Little Freaked Out.....

Well......the upper GI swallow came back normal - yay! The band is in place, and everything looks fine. The only small thing he found was a bit of reflux, but said it was at the lower end of what they see with banded patients. My doctor now recommends that I have the last 1/2 cc taken out, and see how I feel after that. That was only my second fill, and I'm just learning how things feel with all the changes. I have also noticed since the last fill, that I have difficulty eating in the morning. I also continuously feel like I have a lump at the bottom of my throat, so maybe the band IS just a little too tight. I've been a little nauseous too, which I didn't have prior to the second fill. What a learning process!!

    mis73?

Missy - SO nice to see your face!! It was pretty weird when you fell off, and minds can play tricks; thinking the worst Thank GOD that you took yourself to the ER when you did. I hope for you, that this is the last ordeal you have to go through on your path to greater health.

    Eggs....

Yeah, I've eaten shrimp, but it's a bit tricky. Since being banded, I don't know that I'm lovin' the texture. Pre-band, I LOVED it. Seemed to be a better food item when gobbled down the way I used to - LOL! Something about chewing shrimp to a pulp, isn't quite the same

    On the throne of self-pity

Shelly - thanks for "exposing" yourself :-) And you certainly aren't alone. Your story, though very personal, is not unique to those of us who struggle with compulsive overeating and addiction. Lets face it, we all "want what we want when WE want it", or we wouldn't be in this predicament. It's a curse. And it's true.....that the universe doesn't owe you (us). But when you alter your perceptions and take the responsibility that you're talking about, the universe has an amazing way of reflecting that. Good for you! Thanks for the post - and your humble honestly :-)

    Eggs....

I make egg salad with low fat mayo, and that goes down pretty easily. When things are dry, it can be an issue....which eggs can tend to be, especially when they're not cooked in a lot of butter, and loaded with cheese
