Things all around start to change, when WE start of change Wonderful!
-
Wonderful! Bask in the glory of all your hard work. You earned it!

My favorite are Wacoal....I buy them at Nordstrom. Mine are now too big, but I don't want to spend the money on new ones until I'm closer to goal. They're expensive, so I'm holding off; wearing some older bras I had from thinner (not thin) times.
-
I'm with Mis on this one..... Make sure that water is in fact the issue. Years ago (pre-band), I was getting frequent UTIs, and my gyn sent me to a urologist. It turned out that I had kidney stones.

I wasn't allowed yogurt until the mushy phase, which was 14 days post op. And at the point, the only fruit I could have was unsweetened apple sauce and bananas. Various other fruits were added back in the following weeks. All doctors are different in the way they lay this out, but being that you're newly banded, I'm sure that's why they told you to hold off.

You might want to try pea Protein or egg white protein powders. Mixed with almond milk, they are a great alternative to whey and cows milk. Glad you're feeling better. The way I describe how it was for me in the beginning, was a roller coaster ride; ups & downs, getting used to a new way of life, not to mention the post-op diet and healing. You will get through this, and as another poster mentioned, we'll see you on here jumping for joy as the number on the scale starts to go down. This physical and emotional upheaval WILL settle, and you'll be on your way. Hang in there.....

Another embarrassing subject.....Diarrhea!
mrsto posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 13 days out; on mushy food, and having a problem with diarrhea. It's a real turnaround for me, because before surgery I had chronic constipation. Is anyone having.....or have had this issue? Today I finally was able to take the dog out for a walk. My stomach felt weird, and I kept having internal burps. Though we walked for about 20 minutes, I cut it short & went home. I felt really weird. A little later, when I tried to eat lunch, I kept having those internal burps. I put the fork down & decided that eating wasn't a good idea. I don't know where all this is coming from, but I just sat down to eat my dinner (little red potato with cottage cheese), and could only eat a small amount before having to run to the bathroom. Really?! So odd.....and so different. -
I'm so with you on that.... My port doesn't stick out (yet), but when I feel it, I feel this weird sense of security. Like....my little helper is with me all the time

I bet that's the best bump on your whole body!!

50 pounds until I hit the goal weight!!!!!

Congrats! -
Everyone responds differently. Just remember why you are doing it, and allow yourself the time to go through the healing and post-op diet. It's the worst part, but it's short in the big scheme of things. Good luck!

I agree with a lot of the above posts. All I can really add is to ask yourself this... If you have the band removed, then what? Will you then be able to stick to a diet long term, to take off the weight? Will you be able to maintain that weight loss for a long, healthy life? Be really honest with yourself, and take a close look at your life long history with obesity. Now ask yourself, if you have the band removed, will your weight continue to climb? Is this "temporary" physical and emotional discomfort worse than living your life obese? Try to relax a bit, and let your body heal. The surgery is a huge assault to your body, and the anesthesia and pain meds can do a number on your mind. SO many of us went through a short bout of depression, but it does pass. I've had other major surgeries, and I really thought this one would be a slam dunk. I was really surprised at just how long it took for me to get back to feeling like myself. Granted, I also had plication, my gallbladder removed and a hernia repair, but even still, I thought I'd be feeling pretty good after a couple of weeks. It really took a good month, but never did I regret any of it. I thought long and hard before having the surgery, and in the (close to 12 months) of me deciding to move forward, I gained more weight. It was painfully clear, after I don't even KNOW how many failed attempts to lose weight, that I needed to do this to save my life. Now, close to 50 pounds down, I wake up, and don't agonize about what I'm going to wear. I go up and down the stairs without issue. And it will only get better. Please get some support, and hang on for another 2-3 weeks. This was a huge step, and I fear that if you reverse it so soon, you will regret it as continued weight gain becomes a reality. Feel better.....

Is this a port problem?? please help

I would call you doctor and explain what is going on. Let him/her decide if what your feeling is normal, or something that needs attention. -
Garcinia Cambogia is a plant extract. It became all the rage when Dr. Oz reviewed it on one of his shows. I tried it (pre-band), and I hated the way it made me feel. The bottle is up in (what I now call) the Dr. Oz cabinet Every day he comes out with some supplement to help fix this, that or the other thing. Although, he never covers what happens when you take "this thing", along with the thing he recommended from another day. In the beginning, I liked him. Now......I no longer watch the show

I asked my doctor about this...... I asked if some choose to have the band removed after reaching goal. He said that some do, but most of them start gaining. Scares the s-hit out of me! I thought that maybe I'd reverse my surgery when I get to where I'm going, but totally changed my mind. I will have to continually remind myself of how things were pre-band. After a lot of time passes, and we are living healthy & feeling strong, the pain of "before" tends to fade. Since I don't believe we're ever cured of this affliction, going back to where I came from, isn't an option

Nikki - Although some may disagree, I don't believe that any of us who got to the point of WLS, are ever really cured 100% from our eating issues. Sure, we make changes; control what we eat, exercise to varying degrees, and follow the band rules (albeit, not always perfectly). But food addiction is no different than any other addiction, in as we can fall back into old habits & behaviors at any time. That's why one of the 12 step program mantras is that they're always "in recovery"; never "recovered". I couldn't agree more. With food, it's actually more difficult, because you can never completely stop eating, as you can with using drugs & alcohol. As far as concerns about complications with the band, yes, I think about it, too. Although, now that I've got a few months under my belt, I don't think about it quite as much. But, sure, it's always in the back of my head, especially since I had the band with plication. I'm doing pretty well, so I figure I'll pay close attention, see my doctor regularly, and deal with complications IF they arise.

I wasn't allowed lettuce until I was about 12 weeks post op. After the two weeks of post op liquids, groups of foods were added back slowly. I don't have an issue with any type of lettuce, but I chew it to a pulp, and it can be gassy. I'm with all above who said to call your doctor. When you have pain, that should always be your FIRST call. Feel better......

LOL! I'm with ya! Years ago, I was dating a guy who told me that he liked hairless. I told him that he should date a 12 year old

Ice Cream! Blue Bell's No Sugar Added, LF Dutch Chocolate
mrsto replied to PrettyThick1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The ice cream sounds WONDERFUL. Although, sugar free or not, it would still be a controlled substance in my house; don't think I could keep 1/2 gallon in the freezer I don't know that I would/could stick to 1/2 cup, only. -
My pre-op diet was for two weeks; 1200 calories per day, low fat, lower carb. Then, two days prior to surgery, full liquids only. The 1200 calorie per day part, I wasn't an angel. I did cut down a great deal, and probably ate closer to 1400 calories. The liquid part, I was perfect. No issues. Please do not get hung up on how other people's programs are tailored. You chose your doctor for his expertise, so follow only what HE tells you. I did the same thing; wondered why I had to follow this, that & the other thing, while others had more freedom. But then again, I also read some that were way more restricted, for longer periods. This is a great place for support, but YOUR doctor should be your first and foremost source for guidance.

PPIs and acid-blockers .. Do you take them?
mrsto replied to Ladybandito's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ditto - same here. -
Totally agree.... I've seen this with myself many times through the years (and 100s of pounds up & down)
-
I think this is definitely one factor. When we feel good about ourselves, we attract more positive attention.

Not help and sympathy. But certainly, an understanding of why she would be passed over for the job, or let go from the job. If someone, for whatever the reason, cannot perform the job requirements, I don't have an issue with them being passed over, or terminated. Not to sound like a hard ass, but business is business.

I agree with Hazel, that socialized medicine isn't something to move toward. I won't even start in on Obamacare..... Another conversation, for another type of website.... Though my hospital bill was something like $86K (stayed one night), what insurance paid, was dramatically lower. When someone has insurance, they inflate the bill so they will be paid out based on a higher percentage. That's why the self pay folks have a lot lower bill. I'm not condoning this, but it's just the way the current system works. There IS something very wrong with our heath care system, but I don't believe that socialized medicine is the answer. I have friends who live in countries with this medical care system, and it's not very good, for the reasons stated above. I'm afraid of where this country is headed.....
