OMG - fricken hysterical!
-
Breeeeath in the good air, let out the bad...... Take a deep breath and don't listen to the news today
-
But the question is...... will you eat fish???
-
Yep, love my little girl...... Petting & hugging her centers me when I'm spinning out of control.

I'm all for helping the poor get back on their feet. And I understand that there are some that will never get back on their feet. What I'm TOTALLY against, is the government continuing to enable those sucking off the system, that are perfectly capable of working. Yes, there are those who need government assistance. But there are way too many lazy ass people that think flipping burgers at Jack, or making coffee at Starbucks, is beneath them. I was completely idealistic in my hippy days, but the harsh realities of life snapped me out of "the dream". I work my ass off, and pay into a system that TOO many able bodied people live off of. Am I angry? You bet!

Maybe, when talking with her about your experience, talk about all the feelings and issues that you're dealing with, now that you're not stuffing them down with food. It's really the truth, isn't it? When we stop using our "drug", we have to deal with the underlying issues. When she said that God wants her to deal with the root of her issues, it sounds like she thinks that being banded is some sort of free ride; a space shuttle ride to "thin", bypassing all of the issues we all deal with. When you talk with her, just avoid telling her what she should do. Stick to what you're going through, and it will be more digestible for her. She may not act on anything right away, but (hopefully) she'll think about it. I think it's totally okay for you to share what's been going on with YOU. She's your friend, right?? That is a two way street. Just don't gloat about the weight loss......that will probably be hard for her to handle. Gloat to us, and everyone else in your world who is cheering for you. It's hard work, and you deserve a few pats on the back!

Agree - totally!
-
Personally, I think saying that this is God's plan for her, is a total cop-out. Sounds more like fear than anything else. But it doesn't really matter what I think, because it's her life, and her choices to make. I agree with Mis, in that you've already talked with her about it, so it's best to let it be. As painful as it is to watch, if she drops dead from a stroke or heart attack, then that is the road she chose based on her beliefs.

It's such a shame..... This has been such a great support system, and now it feels somewhat, tainted.

Losing my monthly fills ins coverage due to Obamacare come Jan 2014
mrsto replied to donna12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just checked the Megaflex benefits 2014 package that came from my husband's work. Thank God we can keep what we've had, which INCLUDES bariatric coverage. Phew.......good for another year. I was starting to sweat, reading all this sh-it. -
Losing my monthly fills ins coverage due to Obamacare come Jan 2014
mrsto replied to donna12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My client just received a notice from Anthem, that their existing small business policy will not be renewed.....that they will receive other options to pick from. My comment to my client was "and so it begins". This is just the tip of the iceberg. -
Losing my monthly fills ins coverage due to Obamacare come Jan 2014
mrsto replied to donna12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep, insurance pays for my fills, too. And pays for all other aftercare I've gotten so far. Hopefully, with all that's going on with insurance, that will not change. I'm concerned, though. -
The last time I went for a fill I asked for .25cc. The nurse who does them told me that those small fills are nothing more than me (and others) thinking a tiny bit more is going to make them lose faster. She always seems to try & talk me out of a little bump, but always ends her spiel with...."but I'll do it if you really want it". I told her, yes, I really want it. That last .25cc put me right into the green zone. And it's total BS when they tell you that .1cc isn't anything, or that they cannot do it. It ALL depends how close you are to green. That tiny little bump can make all the difference. Speaking of which, I'm getting ready to go in and ask for another .1cc, but this time I'm prepared for the "talking to". This is a woman who is thin as a rail, and probably never had an extra pound on her. But in her defense, she bases her comments on how much weight I've dropped since the last visit, and that she/they want us to exercise control with the band, instead of looking for more restriction to the point of forcing us not to be able to eat. And I have to remind myself that she's not just responding to my request, she's responding to all the things she hears from the numerous LB patients coming through. So - my suggestion is, as stated above by other posters..... Stick to you guns, and YOU make the decision that is best for you Good luck.......

Our pics being used in the media?

Well, at least I now have a mental picture of you :-) Last week I came very close to putting my face up here, but decided to go with some beautiful nature instead  -

I would hope permission was given, but this type of thing is why I don't post any pictures of me on this site. My choice to have surgery was a very personal decision, and I pick & choose whom I share it with. There are a couple of people on here that I'm friends with on Facebook, but we don't discuss our surgery openly on that site. In the internet world, nothing is sacred -
The Lap Band gave my Mother Stomach Cancer!!
mrsto replied to Sdunn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how horribly painful it is to lose your mother. I lost mine to cancer as well. Lung cancer. In reading your post, I'm thinking that (possibly) because your mother had the band, the doctors were looking specifically for band related issues. In doing so, overlooked the possibility of cancer. This is the first I've heard of the band actually "causing" cancer. It could be that this is something she would have developed with or without the band. Again.....I am so sorry to hear this. My life hasn't been the same since my mother passed. -
Yes - stay off the scale! Especially when you find that your moods fluctuate with what the number says. I weigh every other week, because I cannot afford to take the scale driven roller coaster ride. If you are doing everything right, the weight is coming off....whether you see it on the scale immediately, or not.

I've been taking Celebrate chewable. It's two tablets, and I was told to take one in the morning, and the other one later in the day. I also take liquid Calcium & magnesium (Solgar strawberry flavored). I take that three times a day. My doctor told me that our bodies only absorb 500mg at a time, so.....as much as I hate it, three times a day it is. In addition, I take 5,000mg of D3, sublingual B12, and 5,000 of Biotin for my hair. There are one a day Multivitamins. Many recommend gummies, but I do not think they have enough of anything in them. They also lack necessary minerals.

Undecided on Protein
mrsto replied to silly_weasel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Silly - the thing with all the Protein options, is that you (unfortunately) have to try different ones to find the one you like. Many people post on here that they love unjury. I can't stand it. I've tried a variety of the major brands talked about, and at the end of the day, I only drink the Premiere Protein ready made chocolate shakes. You may have to waste a bit of money in the beginning, to find what will work for you in the long run. Everyone's tastes are different. Good luck.... PS: If you buy a protein you hate, try blending in some banana or other fruit, to make it tolerable.....so you don't have to throw it out. -
Yeah, peace of mind is priceless. I just had a GI swallow and an endoscopy. All is well, and I'm at peace.
