In a perfect world, I would have loved to have a surgery that didn't require so much follow up. But given the issues with the other two surgeries discussed (issues they don't seem to talk about), I'm perfectly fine having control over this tool. Once the others are done……that is it! There ain't no turning back, and that is a dynamic I could not live with. I've said this before……if for some reason my band goes south, I'd have it removed without revision. The doctors may not like all of the band aftercare, but so many people also gain weight back with the sleeve and bypass. The sleeve can be stretched, and people gain with the bypass as well. I've seen it with a couple of people I know. One actually had the band placed over the bypass. But these are the things you don't hear the doctors discuss. And that's not to mention the issues of malabsorption with the bypass. That is some scary sh-it! Especially because you can't reverse it! No thank you……not for me.

I think we've all gotten some of those same responses. My sister's first response was that her friend who got the band a few years ago, gained all her weight back; as if that was going to be a deterrent for me. I also got the "all you have to do" comments, but most of those people were also supportive of my decision. I'm convinced that the folks that make these types of comments, have zero clue what this is all about. They don't understand the disease of obesity, nor do they understand that WLS is only a tool……not a cure. I've been very selective about whom I discuss this with, and I'm glad. I don't really care what anyone else thinks, but I don't have the time or energy to educate them.

If I were to place a bet, I'd say he did it for both reasons; health and 2016. Everything in life isn't black or white, but out society's need to pidgeon hole people into one place or the other, has little to do with all the shades of gray that we all are. The whole focal point of Chris Christie's weight, is a very sad commentary on our society.

Thanks Hazel.... Yesterday, I went into my profile and added back some of my info; surgery date, starting weight, current weight, etc. Once I did that, PRESTO.....the ticker came back. I don't know why my info disappeared in the conversion, but it seems to be fixed now. Thanks for responding

Anyone Suffer From Foot Drop After Weight Loss?
mrsto replied to mbmoore2518's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to stop crossing my legs. I haven't had this issue, and I certainly don't want it! -
How did everyone get their tickers back? Mine is still MIA.

Listen To Your Band When Stressed
mrsto replied to terrydumont46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. I know how awful that is, and though time dims the initial pain, the loss of a mom leaves a gaping hole in your heart….and in your life. But how great that you were able to find the strength to stick to your program. That is wonderful. -
Did Your Feet Lose Too?
mrsto replied to tundratessie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Before surgery, I went out and bought some really good athletic shoes - to the tune of $149. Now they're too big. I'm wearing them with thicker socks until I lose this last 19 pounds. Then I will buy new ones, along with new bras, get my wedding rings sized, etc. YES - feet lose, too. I've lost & gained large amounts of weight so many times, and each time had to replace my shoes. -

Hot shoes, CG! -
Amen, Bandista! Couldn't have put it better myself.

I used to eat more chicken than anything else. Since surgery, I rarely eat it anymore. Unless a chicken breast has some sort of sauce on it, it's way too dry. If you like dark meat, you may have better luck with that. Regarding bread, I've never had any issues with it since surgery. I don't eat much of it anymore, because it takes up too much space in an already limited capacity. Since there isn't much nutritional value, I just stay away from it.

I've never seen samples at the Vitamin Shoppe where I live. However, with some of the Protein powder mixes, they may sell a single serve size, so you don't have to commit to an entire canister. The woman at the one I go to has given me a few freebies to try. But only the powders......nothing ready made.

I am strung out on popcorn; one of my favorite snack foods. I have it at least once a week without issue. I eat it at the movies too, but I know that popcorn tends to be caloric suicide. But I indulge anyway, and account for it. If I'm not sharing with my husband, I'll get a child's/junior size bag.

Anyone Suffer From Foot Drop After Weight Loss?

I don't get this new site..... My above response; quote to Leena's post, looks like it's part of MY post. This new site was FAR from ready to roll out. Must have been created by the same team that did the AHA site - lol. Beyond glitchy! -
Anyone Suffer From Foot Drop After Weight Loss?
mrsto replied to mbmoore2518's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had foot drop- but that was/is due to a herniated disc in my back (MRI showed it as well as arthritis). It happened in August after lifting a 50 pound bag of chicken feed the wrong way. It ended up giving me sciatica as well. Last week I went in for a spinal epidural to relieve the inflammation. I've also been through PT and chiropractic care for it since September. The PT and chiropractor did nothing for it. I think the chiropractor made it worse because I was constantly tripping over my own left foot when I left his office. He did adjustments, ultrasound, e-stim and ice. I hope you get it sorted out. I'd never heard of it as a side effect of weight loss. My orthopedist is very anti-leg crossing when it comes to injuries. Crossing at the ankle is much easier on your body. I used to think that chiropractors were the ultimate healers. Not anymore..... I've had epidurals on my lower back, and now I've got another herniated disc in my neck; C5-6. I didn't know, and started with the chiropractor. BIG mistake! This morning I had an epidural in my neck, and I'll know in a day or two if it's helping. Right after one of my fills, my left arm started hurting like hell. I thought it was fill related; had a TNE & another test to see what was going on. Now, about 2-3 months later, my left arm has been so bad that I wanted to saw it off! Pins and needs down the front through my thumb. Weird. Nothing to do with the fill or band, just the compression from the herniation. Sorry - I know this isn't anything about foot drop, but Leena's comment about the chiropractor making spinal issues worse, got me going :-) I think I'm still coming off the Propofol anesthesia I'm done with chiropractors......DONE! I've got too many spinal issues, and they tend to be one trick ponies. -
I'll keep this in mind. I just had a fill, and it was good for about a week. Now the signals have dimmed quite a bit....again. I've seen some talk on here about the "5 day pouch test". Sounds similar, if not the same thing you're talking about.
-
When you do this, do the band signals sort of come alive.....like a renewed sense of restriction (for lack of a better word)?
-
You look SO happy......Wonderful!!
-
That didn't work, either.

Just Got Back And The Format Of Site Has Changed. Its Makin Me Crazy!
mrsto replied to GetMyGrooveBack's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So far the site is very glitchy. I hope it comes together soon. -
Yes - I tried to PM Carolinagirl. She's got hearts at the beginning and end of her name.
-
Okay - thanks Alex. I still cannot send a PM. I received one, but when I try & send, it gives me an error. It says that I have to put the full name of the recipient, but the name is already there?
-
I'm having the same issues. But I haven't spent a lot of time working with it......frustrating!
-
It worked! Now, how did you get your ticker back? Mine doesn't appear to be showing, and also, all of my profile info (weight, surgery date, etc.) seems to have dropped off.
