  1. Happy -- Birthday laydlyke!

    Sleeved April 23rd

I took a total of 8 days off from work. I should definitely have taken more, especially since I had a hiatal hernia (I didn't know until after surgery). But that was all the sick time I had. I have about a week's worth of vacation time, but I am getting married in November and want to hang on to it for then. I don't do much lifting at work anyways, but it's still hard getting up and down and concentrating all day long.
  3. I am 2 weeks post op. On Sunday, I woke up with an incredible burning pain near my main incision. If I'm just sitting it's ok. But if I bend down to move the least little bit, I get this incredibly painful sharp burning pain. I called the surgeon's office on Monday. The nurse told me that it was common and to just keep taking my pain pills or Tylenol. But this doesn't feel common. It wasn't hurting like this before. I am maybe thinking I pulled an internal stitch. Today, it hurts to even stand up. I walked out of my office into the lobby and it's just unbearable! I have a few percocets left but gosh, I don't want to be zoned out and sleepy while I'm at work!! Anyone else have anything like this?

I was also sleeved on 4/23. I am down 19lbs from the night after surgery with all the fluids. It's virtually impossible to get in everything I'm supposed to get in. I also had a hiatal hernia that was unknown before surgery. Recovery has been a process. Some days are great while others are horrible. I somehow busted an internal stitch on Sunday. Boy that is NO fun. I am back at work and pressing on. The scale continuing to go down has been great motivation and reward for enduring the pain. Good luck everyone. It's nice to know there are others on the same track!

    Height, Weight, And Size Poll

I am 31, 5'4 and currently weight 310lbs. I wear a size 24 (tight) pants. Some of my 24's I can't get in. Should be having surgery before June 30th, although no date set. Currently going through pre-op appointments.
  6. Thanks guys! Carolinagirl, I'm in NC as well, a little further towards Charlotte though. This forum has helped me so much and continues to do so and I'm on ly in the beginning of this whole thing. You guys are great!
  7. Hi all! I have been lurking for about a week now. I am attending the informational seminar tonight. I wondered if any of you had any advice on things for me to ask or be aware of during this seminar. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

    Seriously Embarrassed !

Well I have broken several things unfortunately. I bought a new home in 2010, within the first 2 months, I broke the toilet seat. Then after a year, I broke the couch. I have been at my job for about 18 months and broken 2 office chairs. So I had to spend twice what I would have paid on a "big and tall" office chair designed to hold up to 350lbs. How mortifying is it when you work for a non-profit and have to spend twice the amount in order to get a chair you won't break! Last summer I was at a state training for my job. I had on wedge sandles, not high at all. As I was walking into the meeting room in the hotel, I stepped on some uneven plastic part of the floor and my ankle turned over...BAM...face planted right on the carpet, in front of all of my new collegues. Hotel staff had to run and get me ice. Now the lady at the state level knows me as the fat girl that fell at training!!!!
  10. I am also in the beginning of the Lap Band journey. I too plan not to tell. My fiance' and wedding planner (who happens to be my co-worker and close friend) are the only people that know. I too have had fertility issues. So I plan to just say it's fertility-related, and it is. I have had several appointments and procedures related to fertility so it isn't far-fetched for me. Seminar on Thursday...hoping to have surgery before June 30th, when insurance rolls over into a new year and doubles my out of pocket costs.
