Out of Commission for a bit

Just had a shoulder repaired after damaging it in February. Apparently although I am 20 in my mind, my body has other ideas. That'll learn me for trying to out do my young troopers in a pull up competition.. Lol It'll be lower body exercises and lots of waking for the next while.. I'm cool with it as long as the weather stays steady. Will have to modify food intake as I won't be doing my 1000 calorie work outs for awhile.. Lol Take care all!

    Defill for surgery

I did a preemptive thing and had a 1cc defill prior to a shoulder surgery. I was having occasional reflux and thought it would be bad to have it while knocked out on the Drs slab. My fill nurse thought it was an awesome idea. Oddly for the past week, I've felt physically better since the defill, so if things work out, I won't get topped off again... The surgeon and anesthesiologist were very appreciative as well..

    Slow and slothlike

After a weekend of total misbehaviour I'm feeling slow and sloth like. Stressful times tend to send me out of focus, and then the regret of being bad pile up... Gotta get back on track if I wanna meet my goal by Canada Day...

    my fitness pal

I like the app and really enjoy reading your progress and the enthusiasm to make your bad work for you. One thing that grinds my gears is how it only counts calories burned during cardio, but not strength training. Increased protein during strength training is essential, and I feel sometimes a true representation isn't being depicted.. Just saying....

Ugh...not even going to record this weekends activities... Stress of last week help build a need for comfort foods... Time to get back on track.

I so need a buddy as I am slipping back a little

It's a plateau, and your body will adapt around it. Understandably it's mind over matter. You can and will get through it... Just have to accept it and enjoy the break. Bodies need time to adjust. Send me a note anytime you feel discouraged.. I'll certainly try to help

    Protein powder

I like body fortress, but the costco stuff is good too. Scoop of vanilla with half cup o% milk, half cup oj and about a cup of frozen bananas and strawberries.. Through in some milled flax too. Good kickstart before a workout.

    Crossfit anyone?

I have the same issue with crossfit... Joints can't take the intensity... I've been reading up on it, and some real damage can occur wrt kidneys and Protein excretion if you aren't careful...

How do you motivate yourself to exercise???

Working out is an addiction for me... If I don't go, I feel terrible and if I feel too bad I start to feel unmotivated... I just look at a preop pic and say to myself.. "Never Again"

Any Female Friends Now Treat You Differently?

The newfound attention from the opposite sex was humbling. I'm married, and the attention and looks that I am receiving now sometimes get me in trouble. I've always been a friendly guy... Chatty and all, but the friendliness gets confused with me being flirty. Not gonna lie, the jealousy wifey feels and expresses does feed the ego a bit. I dont and wont act on anything... i care and love my wife too deeply to throw it away on a whim or fantasy. Everyone does receive me better. I've seen it... From getting a bit of extra service when out for a meal, a checkout clerk throwing in a quarter for me if I dig for some change, or just that extra smile.... Wow... And to be taken seriously at work too is an added bonus... All this helps boost the confidence which I lacked for being heavier. I'd always had a bit of an inferiority complex, and its slowly going away. The hard part is keeping the ego in check, as things can get out of control super fast.. Gotta remember to be the same friendly guy as I've always been know, but with a humble touch of confidence

    New guy here!

    Awesome work.
  25. I'm 42, married and have two kids. One is gone to university and the other has two years of high school left. Been married 21 years. I'm in the Canadian Army and am in my 24th year. I love what I do, and can't think of doing anything else...plan to work until I'm 50ish, then should be in a good position to call it quits. I am trained to fix army kit, concentrating on electronics, however I'm more supervisory these days. I love life and leisure. I don't need a bunch of people or friends, as I believe in quality, not quantity... My wife is my best friend and I wouldn't have it any other way. We love vacationing together, and spending time with our kids, but we do realize they are growing up, and want lives of their own. I like to work out and get sweaty, spend time in the sun, read, walk, jog, listen to music and watch movies. My band journey started in Feb 2010 when a coworker told me his story of how he lost a bunch of weight and planted the idea in my head. After some consults and preop I was on the table on June 22nd 2010. My starting weight was 265. It's been good for me. At first the weight tumbled off but things have slowed significantly. I'm good with it. I can eat almost anything as long as i take my time.. i've had refux issues am on Pantaloc to help with that. of my 10cc band im roughly at 9.25 cc's and that isvthe max i can go without the reflux giving me severe issues. i still Get the occasional blockage and i know my slider foods. im trying to maintain a plateau right now so im trying to live as "normal" as possible. The band has certainly helped with my key issue of overeating and gorging, the rest is up to me to pick better choices. you dont change 39 years of bad habits in 3... it takes time, and as long as the numbers are in my favor, its all good. I'm in the best shape of my life, healthy and plan to live a long time.
