Raja's Cup is an alternative to coffee. It is Indian blend and divine.

Cara there are several people on here that have had the surgery in Florida so I am sure when they read your post they will respond. You can also check with Inamed the manufacturer of the LAPBAND for a list of surgeons in your area that place the band. They won't recommend one over the other but they will give you a list. www.inamed.com Hope this helps.

The other thing is DEE DEE your friend did Atkins. The band doesn't work the same way as Atkins does. We balance our Protein and carbs and veggies. It isn't all or nothing. And if you are banded why would you try Atkins anyway? It's all about being more mindful about your diet and the balancing act we play. Making better food choices and using this TOOL we were given. I am sorry that your friend is in such grave health. Please do take care of yourself.

I wasn't on a liquid diet pre-op. I would say NO to the mashed potatoes and cottage cheese but the yogurt MIGHT be OK. You could use Yogurt in your protein drinks instead of milk and make a smoothie. Just be wary of the calories. If you take in under 1200 calories your body goes into what is called "starvation mode" and tends to store everything as fat. So be careful going under the 1200 calories. I learned that the hard way. The scale didn't move for months. LOL!!!

You are most welcome. I sent Alex, owner, an email about your problem. Hopefully he can fix it for you.

Welcome to Bandland Cissy. I would think it would be OK too but you should check with your doc to make sure.

Hey guys, Just wanted to remind everyone of the East Coast Bash. It is the weekend of Sept 23, 24, 25. Some of us are arriving on the 22nd and leaving on the 26th. I am staying at the Wyndham Garden Hotel by Laguardia. So taxi's for me everywhere. Thursday, the 22nd I will arrive in the afternoon and would be up to meeting someone for dinner possibly. Friday, the 23rd we had discussed a dinner to meet and greet everyone. Has anyone decided on a place or time? Saturday, the 24th is the Walk from Obesity 5K along Riverside Park. If you are interested in participating then here is the link. Manhattan, NY - The American Society for Bariatric Surgery - Walk From Obesity - Sept. 24, 2005 Sunday, the 25th is a free day or travel day for some. I plan on going to some museums or just walking the streets of New York and playing sight-seer. Anyone wanna go with?

Visit this other thread for more info. There is more activity on that thread than this one for details of the East Coast Bash. Thinking about an East Coast Bash This thread will be locked.

Indian, Italian, Steak, I am easy. Kirsten is looking into alternatives as well. Can you think of another restaurant close to "that area". LOL!! Kelly Ann the more the merrier.

I don't think anything is assured in this life. Certainly you can pull a stitch and it can tilt again but I had my surgery in June of 2004 and haven't had anymore problems since. They access it with one stick easily. Personally I don't buy the loss of weight and the port tilting theory. If that was the case then everyone losing weight would be going through the same thing. My theory is that a stitch pulled loose and caused the port to tilt. Most times this is managable and no surgery is required. Other times like mine it was in danger of protruding through the skin and needed to be repositioned.

Walked 1 mile (20 min). Shaving that time off little by little

Daniela, there are no words to express how much grief you must be feeling. I am completely overwhelmed by the emotion and sadness you must be experiencing. I lost my father to cancer when he was 54. He was suffering in the end so it was for the best that he passed. But it did not deaden the pain of the loss. Nothing does. I still miss him to this day. This poem helped me as I wrote it when he passed away. I hope it lends some comfort to you. TEARS by: Penni Merrick Tears of joy, Tears of sorrow, Tears of happiness, Tears of the old, Tears of the young, Tears for fear, Tears for tears. Why do we have tears? It is a cleansing of the grief stricken soul!

I had a tilted port as well. Two months after my initial band surgery I had to have my port repositioned due to the tilting. The recuperation from the port revision surgery is a breeze. I was up and around by that evening. It was outpatient. I went in at 7a for surgery and was on my way home at 4p in the afternoon. No problems whatsoever. My insurance covered MOST of the surgery so I have no idea what the cost was.

The weight is a factor with Life and Health insurance unless you get either or both through your employer. I was just sent my Chase Life Insurance policy post band so it isn't a factor for them.

Terri my girlfriend sent me the Waxing one and I am still laughing about that. Here is one my mom just sent me. She is a devout Southern Baptist lady. So for her to send me this made it all that much more funny. He pulls him > > up and asks the drunk, "Brother have you found > > Jesus?" > > > > The drunk replies, "No, I haven't." > > The preacher, shocked at the answer, dunks him > > into the water again, but for a bit longer this > > time. He pulls him out of the water and asks > > again, "Have you found Jesus, my brother?" > > > > The drunk again answers, "No, I have not found > > Jesus." > > > > By this time the preacher is at his wits end so he > > dunks the drunk in the water again, but this time > > he holds him down for about 30 seconds.
