Portion size: The Neverending Debate
Penni60 replied to Alexandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Teresa: I do 50 min walks in the morning around our neighborhood park. I am not as diligent as I should be with that but I try to do that every day. If not 50 then at least 30 min every day. I also do some work on my upper arms and abs. UGH!! Hate that part. -
Portion size: The Neverending Debate

Teresa: Since I got Fitday.com software and log in my food intake I am shocked to see that over the past week my average daily calorie intake is usually less than 1000. On the flip side I do get in all my Protein. It is truly amazing that we can eat between 1200 and 1500 calories and be full and satisfied, when before that would have been a lite snack. LOL!!! Today here is my meal plan Breakfast - Usana Protein Peanut Butter crunch bar 1/2 cup of decaff coffee lunch - Mcdonald's Fruit and Walnut salad Mcdonald's Bacon Ranch Grilled chicken salad (which I only ate the chicken) Water Snack - Walnuts from the above salad Water dinner - 1/2 cup of Cream of Corn soup Usana Protein Peanut Butter crunch bar Iced Tea - unsweetened Nothing after 8p for me. Unless it is water. -
Sandy in LA: Is that Los Angeles or is that Louisiana. I live in Van Nuys which is 45 min north of LAX in traffic. LOL!

Allow me to introduce myself!
Penni60 replied to murelsgirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sandy, I am so jealous. 139 the last time I weighed that I was in High School and starving myself to fit into my prom dress. LOL!! Good for you and welcome to the Land of Band. -
Welcome aboard Denise. WHOO HOO!!! Another bander to be. Come on in the Water is fine. Lots of good people here.
-
Nanny: I don't see a problem with taking the medication but have you tried Excedrin for Migraines? It works wonders for me when a headache hits. 20 min later and it is gone. You will be in my prayers on Monday.

Breads, Pasta, and rice are all a no no for me. I could eat my weight in bread I think. Thanks to the band (sounds sorta like an infomercial) I can no longer eat any breads. I have tried believe me and I have paid for it. PB everywhere. LOL!!! So, just be more mindful of what you are putting into your body. Use food as nourishment and not has an excuse to fill a want or desire. Speaking from personal experience here. I am not saying that you are doing that with food. I am saying that is what I did. But it is rings true for you then take it to heart. Speaking of heart, sausage and gravy biscuits mmm mmm good, bad for the heart. You are on the right track. It takes time.

YEAH!!!! DARCY LIVES!!! And she is banded. Welcome Welcome Welcome. Now the healing begins. I agree with Alex. Take it easy, relax, give your body time to adjust to the band, don't push yourself. So, glad to hear from you.

Here is my personal email. Penni60@aol.com Send the stories and I will get them in a story format. Please include your name, date of banded, where banded, starting weight, current weight or loss, include surgeon if you want, and anything else you want to add. When it is published (and it will be even if we have to do it ourselves) we will not include anything but initials or first names. I need the names for my records to keep straight who submitted what. The more stories the better. Don't necessarily have to all be funny but that helps. This is gonna be fun.

Roy: It sounds like you are making better choices with your food selections. Are you drinking lots of water? That will help you in yoru weight loss process as well. DO NOT DRINK WITH THE MEAL!!!

OK October 8, 9, and 10 -------- VEGAS here we come. -
OH MY GAWD,......ROFLMAO,......OH $HIT I FELL OFF THE CHAIR LAUGHING SO HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
My sweetie, John, my son, Bradley, and I all went out to eat one night. I was good and ordered the soup and a tuna sandwich, but did not eat the bread just the tuna. GOOD GIRL right? WRONG!!!!!! I should have stopped at the soup. I took a couple of bites of the tuna and WHAM!!! DEER IN HEADLIGHTS SYNDROME hit. Both my son and sweetie looked at me and said in unison, "Are you alright?" I could not answer. SLIMER from GHOSTBUSTER's showed up for the party with the deer. SO here I am in a NICE restaurant, oh did I mention I was in the middle of the back side of a semi-circle table. LOL!!! Trapped like a rat. Luckily I had asked for a glass of water and it was half gone. I could not make it out of the table so I grabbed the half glass of water and PB'd right there. LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both of them were really sweet about it. They didn't care that I had PB'd they just wanted to make sure I was OK. I laughed it off and said, "Hell of a tip!" LOLOL!!!! Well that did it for dinner for me. On the other hand it didn't seem to bother either of their appetites at all. THey went on to have dessert.

Donali: I will keep you in my prayers and I wish you a speedy recovery and get back to us soon. We will wait anxiously to hear some report of your recovery. Please have someone get in touch with your other family here to let us know how you are doing. They can call me if you like.

I am SOOO proud of myself (kinda long)
Penni60 replied to Lioness81970's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Carmen: I am soooooooooooooooooooo proud of you and yes it is a BIG HUGE ENORMOUS deal. Isn't it great when we finally listen to our bodies and push away when we are 'FULL'. The problem in my humble opinion is we never knew what that feeling was till we were banded. At least I never did. I ate till I was busting just because I could. Now I eat because I am nourishing my body not because I am fulfilling a believed NEED. Good for you. COngratulations!!!!!!!! -
Debbi: We are not that far from each other either. Probably about an hour or two at the max. Ever get to my neck of the woods give me a call and we'll share a sliver of something. LOL!!

Graduation and a cool pic what more could you want. Great pic!!

Hey, not only make sure there is a bathroom but make sure it is not a mile and a half away. I had the same experience in a restaurant and was directed to the only bathroom close which was up a flight of stairs down a long long hall way and around the corner and down another long hall way. I almost did not make it -- IT is embarrassing. I feel your pain.
-
Hello Nanny; Like Darcy yours is just around the corner as well. WHOO HOO to you too. Where are you going for yours? I am all excited for you both. I know you can't wait.

Lap Band Talk Meeting -- Suggestions????

October 8,9,10 works for me -
Lisa: I will certainly ask those questions because I might be faced with the same issue. I just know this darn thing has herniated. I thought so the first time. I even suggested it to Carmen and Dr. Lopez the day I was in TJ and they both said NO. I am not sure I agree now. I still like him as a surgeon but not as my after care person. I hope to get established with Dr. Billy and not have to go back to TJ. I would go to Lopez again for the surgery but get someone else set up for the after care. I live right off the 405, literally it is my back yard. LOL!! So, come on down and we can party before going to see Dr. Billy. That would be fun. LOLOL!!!!!!!

The rock hard area is most likely scar tissue. It might soften and it might not. Time will tell. The scar where I had my hysterectomy is hard as a rock and that was in 1987. But the surgery scar from my tubal is soft and supple. So it just depends.
-
Lisa: My redness simply disappeared after three days. IT was weird. The morning I went to Tijuana it literally was GONE. No redness, NO tenderness, no swelling NOTHING GONE. Hard to say with you though. It could be nothing or it could be an infection brewing again. Here is what I would do. I would call Kuri and explain the situation. Ask him what you should do. He may tell you it is nothing or tell you to continue the antibiotics of Keflex. I don't think you are DYING!!! I don't think this is an emergent situation either. I still am not sure what caused my redness. As I mentioned in a separate post I am going to see Dr. Billy next Friday and I am going to take pictures of my redness and get his opinion. I also have a protrusion (not through the skin) right under my skin. Dr. Lopez and Carmen both said it was my port. Like you I am skeptical of there explanation. Which is why I scheduled the appt with Dr. Billy. I am afraid the protrusion will eventually pop through the skin and I will end up with your situation. I still think the port end that has the tubing attached has herniated. Do you know what fluid they used to fill your band before they took out the port? Maybe some of it leaked out and has irritated the skin. That is possible. Keep us posted.
