Unfortunately, surgery doesn't cure our addiction to food. For me, it's a constant challenge and something I am mindful of every single day. It does get better once you are properly adjusted, but it does take work and motivation. Hang in there and best wishes!!

I feel for ya. That has to be so disappointing? We all work and battle so hard with this band, it hurts to see a soldier go down. Keep in touch and let us know what your next journey will be?

Hello all! Checking in also. Down 51 lbs to date and really enjoying summer clothes so much more than last year at this time! Struggling a bit with all the summer parties/occasions and my love of wine... Working hard every day.

Hi February Bandsters! I am so glad I found this thread because we all seem to be at the same or similar points in our journeys. I am down 40 pounds as of yesterday -- fighting for every pound, but excited that this WILL be the last time I have to see those 40 pounds. Anyway, just thought I would check in and keep the thread alive. It's so helpful to hear others are in the same boat.

Wow my 8 pocks then a X-ray feels like like small potatoes to your experience but you are absolutely right whatever fill experiences we have are to get us to the greater good of being in the green zone. My band still feels like a aid to my calorie counting and exercising. I hope getting to the green zone will feel great and take the hunger pressure away or lessen it.

I agree here, I am feeling the hunger part, but I am just over a week into it, but I have been watching what I am eating. I am going to start the treadmill today along side swimming, (swimming in AZ is a necessity). I use my fitness pal and it is SUCH A HUGE help:)

I ended up ordering a classic cheeseburger plain with no bun and grilled zucchini. I only at a small amount of the burger and some of the zucchinis. I stopped when I felt satisfied. Brought the rest home and probably will get 2 more meals out of it. Nice!

OK...I had my first feel yesterday and i was very nervous..so nervous in fact that i locked my keys in my car because i was so scattered!
Anyway, My doctor couldnt find the port with a small needle. The initial first stick was painless, but him trying to find the port was... They got a larger needle and it was over and painless once again..I am not trying to scare you..But i read this topic before i went and was expecting an in an out procedure with no pain. Just saying this could happen, but the doctor did say once i lost more weight, it would be not trouble finding the port and that wouldnt happen again. Good Luck!

It does not hurt at all. If you are afraid of needles, as I am, do NOT look. Other wise it is less irritation than a flu shot and your in and out in less than 3 minutes. It really is no big deal:)

From what I've read...there are some pretty significant signs that something is wrong or you might have a band slip. After I was banded I too had a lot of anxiety, there is something new in your body and you have no idea what's going on in there. Try and relax, I'm sure your fist fill will go great.

I, too, had my surgery on 3/19, with nothing in the band at placement. My first fill is 4/29 (and I'm nervous about it). I am able to eat anything I want but I am not able to eat the volume of food my brain will try to tell me is okay. I eat the Protein first, always, then take a nibble or two of whatever else is there. I have found that I am extremely picky about what I put on my plate. Since I know I'm only going to be eating a little of anything, whatever it is had better be something I am really going to enjoy. I get to savor every bite. Last night, for instance, my husband made chicken livers and grilled onions with rice. He doesn't make rice properly so that wasn't too hard to pass up , but the livers and onions were DIVINE!!!! I had room for 2 1/2 chicken livers and a few forks of onions and I was DONE. And felt very satisfied, too, both volume-wise and taste-wise. I am just so impressed with how this is all working. Already I know it is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

I never use a laxative...I take Fiber chewable a daily, try to keep my Water intake up, and occasionally use a stool softener.
Constipation can be a problem...but remember you are eating less than you did before having your band placed. It took a full 6 months post op for my system to adjust to the new normal for me.
    Best wishes...

I have had this happen. I wasn't even able to swallow Water. It came on very suddenly. I did have a gi work up and it was inflammation of the lining of my stomach, which my surgeon told me can happen from time to time. There was nothing to do for it and it resolved on it's own after about a week. It happened when I was about 19 mos after surgery. I am now 3+ yrs and I have not experienced it since.

This is just my personal experience...If I lose weight without exercise I always feel fatter. It seems like things start jiggling. I have exercised since the beginning and was close to 300 pounds and am down to 188 now and still have no hanging skin. If you can exercise I would strongly recommend that you do! It does make you feel thinner and healthier, and puts a bounce in your step!

Those were the worst! But my doctor was explaining to me how those intentionally make you hungry so I avoided them and the food network at all costs!
