Everyday I ask god to give me strength
Pittsburgher replied to ineed2dothis4me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think everyone has a story. Me I am 27 yrs old, with 3 kids (7,5,2) I work full time, and I am in nursing school. I lost my mom when I was just 19 yrs old, I could of easily fell off my wagon, I had a 2 month old baby, was in college to become a Medical Assistant, and had 2 yonger brothers (17 and 15) to also take care of. I felt like giving up when my mom died, she was only 43, but I strived through for my daughter. I finished school then started working, got pregnant again, started back at college. Worked full time, had another baby, etc..etc... Where was time for me??? No where. Work, school, kids, bills, stress. No wondered I ate horrible. Then I realized I need to do something for me. Only me. In December 2012 I contacted Magee about LapBand surgery. In January 2013 I started my 6 month diet, in march I quit smoking cigarettes, and in June 2013 I had my surgery. I lost 70 pounds so far, i couldnt be happier. I did this for me. I go to the gym by myself and relieve any stress i have on the eliptical. I still work full time, still in college, still.have 3 kids and finally made myself a priority as well. We need to be special as well, take care of ourselves. If we dont who will? Your daughter is of age 19 put your foot down. Take some time for YOU and good luck!!! -
Call that surgeon and schedule a fill. You should never be ashamed of anything. You have already made it this far dont give up!

We are scheduled for snow over the next couple of days...

Nice bike. Enjoy that snow!! -
Even a jump rope at home is bette than nothing. I work out alone, but I jam out while working out. I feel great afterwards. Slowly adding exercise in your daily routine even for 10-20 minutes will have you feeling better.

I sometimes forget to take my vitamins as well, but usually when I wake up I take them. I get the biggest bottle of Flinstones complete chewable for I think $13 and take 2 a day. My kids also get Flinstones vitamins so when I give them their vitamin I take mine as well.

Weight loss journey pics
Pittsburgher replied to SkinnyJenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pictures are great....even if you cant "see" your progress and you have pictures to look at makes a huge diffrence. I cant really tell a huge diffrence but I lost 70 pounds, and I have pictures that I look at now and say wow!!!! Im going to save the biggest pair of pants that I own (size 24) and shirt (2x-3x, but I am big busted) and when I hit that 1 year mark I hope to get some amazing pictures in the same huge clothes. -

I agree!! Im not that cool with alot of my co workers but the one I am cool with knows everything. The others are just associates. As of today i lost 70 pounds so far (including 6 month diet) and it is a noticable amount of weight for the ones that pay attention to me. When some people ask me how much I lost I say like 30-40 pounds just because when I tell the ones that DO know I have the band the real weight loss of 70 pounds, I just think they look at me like wow you were big or something. Or maybe its just the way I think.like people would judge if they knew the truth that I lost 70 pounds and was a real fat a**. Instead I say like 30-40 pounds so it doesnt seem.like so.much. -

I only told 1 person at work. Everyone else only just recently started noticing the weight loss. I wear the same scrubs though, they are super big and when i wear my scrub jacket you cant really tell i lost much. One of the nurses asked me how much i lost and what was i doing, i just said oh just like 30 pounds and exercising like crazy. Meanwhile i dont really like this nurse in particular so i lied. Some staff members im cool with ask and i tell them my real weight loss but not that i had surgery. I talk about the gym all the time so thats what they think. I dont think its really anyones business how much i lost or how i am losing. So far only few people actually no im banded but thats my choice not to tell them. -

Clavicular Augmentation (smirk) (Cosmetic Surgery topic)
Pittsburgher replied to GoingforGoal's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thank you so much. I am not a RN (yet, in school) but I am a Medical Assistant on a Inpatient unit (GI floor) , I am not approved for surgery or anything nor at goal yet. I was given recommendations for plastics and was going to make an appt for a consult before the end of the year so I can find out what needs to be documented (rashes, etc.) I took off 4 weeks of PTO for my Lap Band surgery but I needed it, I was in pain. I told my manager I W was having a hernia repair. I only work 3 days a week....12 hr shifts. Thank you for the info. -
