Has anyone kept their lap band a secret?
Pittsburgher replied to amber22's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have only told 3 people. My fiance, sister, and a friend at work. My fiance told his mother, because i guess he felt i lied to her cause i told her i was having a hernia repair. Its ok though. I just didnt want his sisters to find out, it is.none of their business. And i dont feel the need to explain my life to everyone. My soon to be mother in law offered to go to weight watchers with me, she is big also. But i dont need anyone tracking my progress but me. I told her i was still.having surgery and i did. I dont need people looking at me wondering why i havent lost enough or loosing slow or etc. Mind yr business. For me its personal. -
I eat fish or chicken. Lemon baked sole is awesome with a side of corn. Or herb crusted chicken with green beans. Usually the dinner comes with 2 sides, i get my vegtable and get the other side for my fiance which is usually fries for him. And yes sometimes i do steal a fry. But only 1 lol

You will not be allowed to drive home, you will be on pain meds. You are not allowed to drive until you stop taking your pain meds. I drove 2 days later, because i had to, and it was hard i held a pillow over my tummy, then as soon as i got home from the store i took my pain meds. It was tough but i got threw it -
Congratulations¡!!!!!!!

Its funny how skinny people think. My sister once tried to tell me what i should eat. It was a interesting conversation we were talking about Snacks and i told her i can still eat anything i want just smaller portions, for some reason she didnt understand that. I dont tell anyone i had surgery simply because it is my personal business. But i believe if you do choose to tell someone they shouldnt try to tell you what you did was wrong. After all most of the skinny people people were probably never fat in their life they have no idea what.it feels like to be fat, and go through the struggles to loose weight.

So i logged in my exercise on my fitness pal and for 30 mins on the treadmill it said 436 calories burned, and 30 mins swimming 339 calories burned. My question how do i no if this is actually accurate? I can look on my treadmill and see how many cals i burned but what about swimming? Any device to wear that can track calories burned accurately? Maybe waterproof for swimming. I looked into the garmin watch....i do believe it is.waterproof but for bikers? I.just want to track calories burned. Does anyone track calories burned?

Pittsburgher replied to newlife1977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree I would give your doctor a call there is someone always on standby. I was walking when I got home, you should be walking to, it helps relieve some gas and prevents blood clots from not moving around. -
which one do you guys think is better? I personally like the steam room. My gym has both a steam room, sauna, hot tub, indoor and outdoor pool, and of course all the workout equipment needed. Plus free tanning. I love it. I want to get a good workout then sit in the steam room for like 20 minutes then take a shower, then to the pool.

3 weeks post op.. No restriction
Pittsburgher replied to marcelaS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately your hunger will return after surgery, you are still healing and should keep to your post op diet. eating chips was not a smart thing to do. The band will not physically stop you from eating anything, just because you can eat anything and everything doesn't mean that you should. think about why you had surgery. You are not going to feel your band its inside your stomach, and it may take several fills to get the green zone where you will be satisfied for many hours on little food. right now it is all on your will power or want power, you must do all the work now, the band will help you need to help it along the way. no more chips!! -
after surgery what do you bring to work to keep full/satisfied?
Pittsburgher replied to backpacking5's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yogurt, Protein Shakes, sf fat free pudding, sf fat free Jello. I was allowed fish on my pureed stage (week 3) without actually pureeing it. I ate it literally everyday sometimes 2x a day for the whole week so i didnt have to puree anything. Its kinda hard with no microwave. -
When i think im hungry i drink a glass of Water, if in 20-30 minutes i am still hungry i will eat a snack, always with Protein, ex. cheese stick, yogurt, cottage cheese. Usually no more than 100 calories. It is hard when you are cooking dinner, but i eat dinner when im done most of the time. My kids get there snack after dinner. But if i ate all my food i tell my self you just ate your not hungry.
