I got banded today. I too was nervous and posted on here that I was scared I was making a drastic choice. I made a "food bucket list" as stupid as that sounds and hit buffets and cake like it was my job. At my last consult before I went on liquids for the diet, I told my surgeon that I was afraid I was making a drastic choice. He told me being 5'4 and 346 pounds was the drastic choice I was making not the surgery. It's normal (my opinion not fact) to feel scared. Look inside your heart and make sure this is what you really want to do because you know you will never loose weight on your own. If u have doubt in your heart still, talk to your surgeon and be honest about the abuse you are putting your body through before a surgery that could and will change your life! Good bless

Got banded today. Expect pain in your shoulder and chest from gas. Nobody told me I would feel it in my chest so I was scared when I woke up cause I thought I was having a heart attack! Lol

It's slightly better tonite but I can't burp to save my life! Lol. The pain seems to be moving across my chest now towards my right shoulder. Is that normal?

I started the liquid diet today. Mine is a little less limited than yours, but still pretty skimpy. Just keep telling myself its worth it and don't cheat cause you are not cheating the surgeon, just yourself

Mine is at 730 am. First one of the day, so hopefully he is fresh!! Lol. I had my last visit with the surgeon today where he made me laugh cause he said the band is made by allergen. The same company that does the three "B"s Botox, boobs, and bands. My surgeon thinks he's hilarious

I'm set for march 6th and excited but mostly nervous about the long term effects. It's hard to find any info on people who have had their bands longer than 10 years and the stuff I find says 60% of patients needed to have their bands replaced because they (the bands) break down in the body......can ANYONE tell me something reassuring??????

Can anyone tell me if they know anything about band replacement. My surgery date is set for march 6th and I've been scared the past few days cause I have found research that claims the band will need to be taken out and replaced at least every 10 years if not more.......makes me not want to do the surgery if that's the case

I'm very happy that u have never felt judged. That must mean you have a wonderful support group. I on the other hand, do not, and am being judged my my whole family

It's just hard for everyone around you to judge you for an "elective" surgery. If I needed a pacemaker, people would understand. Thank you guys. I'm going to have the surgery no matter what cause at 350 pounds and only 5'4 I'm in serious trouble. I guess I'm just looking for support cause my mom thinks its stupid and my husband thinks I just need postpone it till I don't feel so scared. I need people to tell me that I'm making the right choice.

I hope that what I'm finding is bogus. I have wanted this surgery for 10 years and I'm only a week away. I need to lose 200 pounds and my surgeon thinks I will be a good candidate for success.
