Lap Band doesn't change the fact I am an emotional eater.
dawalsh replied to BandedCandace's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Candace, You are amazing! You're putting yourself first (finally). I know it hurts after being with the same person for a number of years. Remember, your prize is a healthier you! Keep up the good work! -

Good luck on your journey! -
I donated blood 9 months after being banded and I was fine. It felt good to donate blood again.

Living my Lapband Life Below Goal Weight

You look marvelous! -
Stay in touch with me. I'm a year post-op and I still have my moments. It's not an ex-husband but my live in partner of 14 yrs is driving me crazy lately. He gets cranky over anything lately. He refuses to visit a doctor and it's insane. Anyway, I go to Red Lobster every Tuesday for a business lunch.i usually order a salad with dressing on the side or a cup of soup. I limit myself to one cheddar bay biscuit because they are 150 cal each. I used to eat 4 of them before my surgery. I do have an occasional drink but I limit it to one and nurse it. So hang in there. If you want PM me. Diane

dawalsh replied to LadyJ314's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oops since 12/28/12!! Last. Night was particularly bad after I ate some cheese grits and coffee at Denny's! No more cheese grits for me! But I have that darn flatulence everyday! Sometimes it's not too bad but it does get embarrassing lol! -

Oh CG, thank you! 'Ve been jiffy popping as you put it since my surgery 12/28/1 -
I was banded in December, 2012 and I have had absolutely no issues with carbonated beverages. I usually drink it so slow it goes flat anyway. The only issue I have had on the no no list is aspirin. I have arthritis and aspirin always help me and I never have taken more than 4 aspirin in a 24 hr period but I've heard my band can erode and that scares me so I'm learning to live with the arthritis but I do have an occasional diet cola. So if your doctor and/or nutritionist is OK with it go for it.

Well, you know, my doctor gave me info to register for my lapband. After registering I received a wallet card in the mail with the type of band I had, date of surgery and how many cc's my band could hold. I have a 10cc Lapband. I sure hope everything works out for you. I've heard of a slipped band but never a tilted band.

You look fantastic! Congratulations! Happy New Year! -
Well, fortunately, my son the Le Cordon Bleu chef was about to make this humongous chocolate chip cheesecake but he lacked an ingredient until yesterday so as I was leaving his home in GA TO get back to my house in FL, he had starting baking it and all I had as a memory was the aroma thank God! I still had two treats while I was there. They were chocolate truffles which did bring me over my limit but I'm good now. I've dusted myself off and am keeping within my limit. Happy New Year everyone!

Well, I'm here but not like when it was the old forum. I liked the old forum so much better. I would not mind joining a private FB GROUP but I won't leave this forum. I'm still working on my "cruise to lose" which I started on the old forum. If anyone is interested just PM me. I lost all my people who were interested when Alex changed the forum.

Non-plus size stores...where did you go first?
dawalsh replied to PuraVida37's topic in The Gals' Room
I love Dillard's. there are always major sales going on. I bought my first item in the misses dept there. I always went to women's sizes but it's all psychological with me. I know I can wear an XL blouse but still head towards the 1X and 2X tops. I have not convinced myself that I've lost enough weight to be out of plus sizes. Does anyone else have that problem? -

How very, very thoughtful and special! That is something you will treasure forever. The rainbow cookies would have been eaten, gone and forgotten about. Your co-worker sounds like an angel!

Yes, I did. I was banded on 12/28/2012. In April, I was experiencing pain and when my surgeon tried to fill me be realized my port had flipped I had a day surgery a week later to reposition my port. I've been fine ever since, no more pain and my one year anniversary is on 12/28.

I had my surgery 3 days after Christmas last year. Best decision I ever made. It made me accountable. I could have used the excuse I'll get banded Fter the holidays but I'd been using that excuse all my life. I'll start my diet tomorrow. I'll start my diet after the weekend, I'll start it tomorrow. Well, I decided no more excuses. It was now or never. It was hard because I was invited to 4 Vhristmas parties. I went to them all but stuck to my pre-op diet shakes the whole time. I survived it and so can you. I'm confident you're going to do great, best of luck to you.

A whole new meaning to out of body experience...
dawalsh replied to WshfullyShrnkng's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, my highest weight was 289 and I'm down to 212.5 but I still consider myself grossly obese. There are times when I wear certain clothes I think I look pretty decent but when those clothes come off I still see the same person I was at 289. I just bought a blouse on sale but I went for the 2X, I'm actually wearing XL blouses but psychologically I can't get it out of my head that I have lost weight. I know part of it has to do with the fact that I am still over 200 lbs. growing up my mother used to see overweight people and she'd say things like that lady must weigh over 200 lbs. then when I went over 200 lbs growing up she put me on every diet in the book. My mom was 89 lbs when she got married so she was skinny until she had children but she never hit over 200 lbs. I was heavy all my life and it was difficult growing up. I always had to go to the chubby dept which I despised. I do see that thin person trying to get out just as I think you do too. If my mom were alive today she'd probably be more accepting of overweight people but she was 83 when she passed away in 2002. She Probably would ask if I were losing weight but I would never tell bar I had WLS. I think she would expect miracles then like overnight weight loss. My children are grown and respect everyone regardless of size. That's becaude they know what I went through as a child. Getting back to the point however, when I first hit over 200 lbs as a teenager, I would hate myself. Then as I got older I became more aware of my eating but it took me to get up to 289 to finally do something about it and this was before WLS was considered. I got down to 267 pre-band and then had surgery on 12/28/2012. I celebrate my one year anniversary soon. I don't regret my decision to have WLS but my loss has been slow. I think once I hit ONEderland (below 200 lbs.), I'll be more accepting of myself and not consider myself as grossly obese. -
In two more days it will be my one year anniversary with the band. I gained 3 lbs at my last visit but totally my fault. I was not tracking my calories but I'm back on track again and lost 5 lbs since that 3 lb gain. I have to keep my doctor's appointments to stay on track. I depend on my doctor's appointments to keep me accountable. I go to my surgeon once a month and my PCP every 3 months. The first thing both doctors do is make sure I get on the scale first. It's been very slow losing weight for me. I still have 65 lbs to lose. Sometimes it frustrates me but if I say lose 10 lbs at a time I do better psychologically. 65 lbs seems like it will take forever but 10 lbs seems more easily doable. Best of luck on your venture!

Thank you for that post. Every band I feel has it's own personality and everyone is going to have a different reaction. I do not have plication and still suffer from head hunger. However after 9 fills I do believe I've hit the zone. I'm leaving food on the plate because my stomach says I'm full. I don't eat because it's there. That's a huge victory with me!

Hang in there! You seem to know what to expect. Just be careful driving home. Try and get a buddy to go with you. Good luck!
