Does anyone else believe they are addicted to sugar/flour
dawalsh replied to CanCan1791's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
YES, YES and more YES!!! I told the psychogist pre-band that I was addicted to sugar and even today I had carbs. A lot of them. So, I know I am addicted to sugar and carbs. I really need daily encouragement to stop from going out of control keep in touch and let me know how you're handling it, thanks!! -
No, what is an EGD? I had an EKG but I have never heard of that.

That's who did mine and I'm very pleased with him. I travel from Titusville, FL on the east coast of FL and I don't mind traveling to him. My insurance covered my fortunately. Good luck on your lapband surgery! Dr. Rehnke is great! -
OMG This is scaring me! I'm going to have a port revision on May 10th. My port flipped and since it flipped I feel no restriction but that's not what I'm worried about. I'm worried that I might get an infection. I was doing great until my port flipped. However, my doctor made it sound like a common occurrence and that it would be no big deal to have a port revision. Since my port flipped it's really sticking out and looks really ugly and is actually stretching my skin. I'm curious how can I prevent it from flipping again? I'm pretty sure it flipped when I was tossing and turning in my sleep. Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

Possible Slippage?
dawalsh replied to Sarahbear0429's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you should call your doctor. If it's been a year since you've seen a doctor don't take anything for granted and hope it will go away. You have a foreign object inside your body and the fact that you haven't seen a doctor in a year should be a red flag that it's time for a check up. -
14 cc band, How many cc's do u have and have restriction?
dawalsh replied to SaraWalk's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have not got a clue but I'm having a port revision and I'm going to ask the doctor when I have my surgery. I was feeling restriction but since my port flipped I feel no restriction. -
I've been using a sugar free hazelnut syrup in my coffee with 2 Tblsp of half and half. My cup of coffee in the morning is my treat. I used to drink 4 cups of coffee but I now consider it a reward instead of a habit and one cup is enough.

Just curious, is your potential surgery going to be in St Petersburg, FL? My doctor gives a free surgery away. -
Self pay psych visit costs???
dawalsh replied to beanie80's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I paid $250 cash upfront for a psychological evaluation. My insurance does not cover it eventhough they require it before any WLS. So $800 seems rather costly. Are you using a psychiatrist or a psychologist? A psychiatrist is a medical doctor so it may cost more but $800 still seems steep. -

I still drink it but not nearly as much as I usd to. My doctor knows I drink it and he has not said to stop but I never got bloated from diet soda but I usually let it sit for awhile so it's not as bubbly.

Aww I'm so sorry about your gallbladder but better to have it out first. I had my gallbladder out several years ago and my gallbladder was a mess. I'm sure your surgeon will reschedule after he makes sure you're healed from the gallbladder. Hopefully it won't be long. I wish you well.

Had Lap Band and have BIG sweet craving!
dawalsh replied to wendythatsmyname's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is there anyway you can eat some kind of fruit down? You've got a sweet tooth like me and I do eat Nature Valley high Protein granola bars occasionally but fruit is sweet and maybe if you dice apples and other seasonal fruit maybe it will stay down without you getting sick. Call your doctor and discuss it with him. Maybe your doctor will put you back on your pre op diet again. You've got to get protein down otherwise You're not going to lose weight properly. Please, please call your doctor above any advice that you may receive on the board. We're all here for support but most of us are not doctors. I hope everything works out for you! -
First Fill: Roll on next Friday

My doctor does gradual fills so I'm not in the green zone yet so it may take awhile before you feel any difference but nothing to be nervous about. -
