    Dr.

Well wait a minute, I have an occasional diet Coke Zero and the doctor is aware of this, but as far as burping or belching is concerned I have not had a problem burping whatsoever. As a matter of fact I'm digesting food better now than I did before the surgery. I was banded on 12/28/12 and have had only one episode where I started sliming. The sliming was after I had drunk a very large Crystal Light because O was hot and thirsty. However, never have had a problem burping.

    Miserable inside.

All I can say is ditto to all the above advice. It will get better and your favorite foods are not forbidden foods they are just foods to avoid. I'm very cautious with rice but I have fried rice post op and I have had no problem with it. I don't have it often but I have had it and it have not had any problems as of yet. Good luck to you and I am confident you will overcome this! :-)
  5. Congratulations on surviving cancer! I am an ovarian cancer survivor myself.i'm a 30 year survivor come this November. Due to my other disabilities I am unable to participate in the special events like relay for life but I'm hoping once this weight is off, I'll be cane free and able to participate in a relay for life.

    LAPBAND DIDN'T WORK FOR ME

    Before & Now Picture

To be honest with you, I felt like a Mack truck hit me right after surgery but within two weeks I felt so much better. I did have pain meds but there are pains including that dreaded gas pain. My advice to you is to walk, walk, walk then walk some more and move your arms as much as possible. My pain meds helped but getting rid of the gas was key and it helped me even more and I became less dependent on pain meds. I promise you it does get better! Best wishes to you.
  8. Hi, There are 2.2 lbs. in a kilogram . When I was pregnant 30 yrs ago I went to a teaching hospital because I was high risk. Anyway, they only used metric scales to weigh me, that's how I learned there were 2.2 lbs. in a kilogram. Also, when I was in Ireland I learned they weigh in stones. There are 14 lbs. to a stone. Hope that helps when you see kilograms or stone when you see it on these posts!

    first Dr appt

Your doctor will weigh you and check your incisions to make sure you're healing OK. Follow ups are usually plain and simple. I went for a follow up for surgery of a port repair I had done on May 10th. My doctor noticed that I had accumulated a large pocket of fluid so he drained it and gave me a fill. You probably are not ready for a fill yet as your pouch is still healing but your doctor just wants to make sure you're doing OK and that no complications have set in.

First Fill - How much did you get?

Sorry my reply got cutoff but my doctor filled me and I couldn't drink a lot of water without getting that stuck feeling so my fill is working.

First Fill - How much did you get?

Drinking after the fill. I'm feeling good now with the fill and know when to stop eating.

First Fill - How much did you get?

I don't think there is an average number. My doctor does a blind fill so he is very conservative. Some doctors use fluoroscope where you swallow a barium liquid. My doctor fills me and makes me drink Water after the fill, I was able to drink a lot of water the last fill so he gave me a little more of a fill, I drank water again but this time I had to stop dr

  15. Congrats on going under 200! The last time I was under 200 was in 1985! That was 28 yrs ago! I. So look forward to the day I can celebrate the milestone of being under 200 lbs!
  16. Well, I had a fill today post op after my port had flipped and I had corrective surgery on May 10th. I went for a follow up today. I gained two pounds! The doctor took one look at me and he said I had a fluid build up. He drained almost 16 oz of fluid out of me! Anyway, he said he gave me a fill during my surgery and I said I felt nothing, he decided to give me another fill today. Anyway, I was only able to hold down 1 Cup of food before I felt like I would start regurgitating. It was a good feel, not a restrictive feel but enough to let me know I'd had enough. My doctor is very conservative on fills and this time I think he hit the green zone because I'm comfortable and feel good that I can stop eating when I feel full. Before the band I would have eaten everything on my plate. Hopefully, a loss will show up on the scale. The doctor said that the fluid build up post op was a contributing factor in my weight gain of two pounds. A gain is a gain so I have to log that down and remind. Myself not to get discouraged.
  17. Just go slow and hang onto the handrail if there is one. I lived in a high ranch for years and the main part of the house meant I had to go up and down stairs daily. I didn't have Lapband at the time but I had two major surgeries that were far worse than Lapband surgery. I would just take it slow and easy and before I knew it, I was doing very well climbing those stairs. I wish you well and being you'll be staying with your folks for the first few days, you should be OK.
  18. Congratulations! You look amazing!
  19. Thank you for the congratulations on my cancer survivorship. I'll be cancer free going on 30 yrs and I feel very blessed.
  20. I so wanted the sleeve over the Lapband. My head was set on it. Then after attending a third seminar and meeting with the surgeon I knew Lapband was the ONLY way to go in my case. I am an ovarian cancer survivor and my surgeon said the sleeve was invasive and if anything happened to my stomach and they had to do surgery on my stomach that I would not have a lot to work with. The Lapband is reversible and if I had any complications where I might need abdominal surgery at least I'd have a big enough stomach to work with. The Lapband is reversible, the sleeve is not.
  21. Hi there! It can be confusing but they don't fill you until the swelling goes down. Your NP will start giving fills when she feels your swelling has gone down sufficiently. I I did not receive a fill until one month after surgery. I did feel a sense of restriction within that first month while I was healing however. Good luck to you!
