    Dont laugh at me...

That is not a silly question and I'm sure no one is laughing. Please feel free to ask any question that is lapband related. I wore elastic banded pants home and eventhough they were lose it did put pressure on my incision, so if you have a loose dress you'd be better off and make sure you have slip on shoes like mules, slide sandals or a pair of slip on shoes. You're going to do great!
  4. You're off to a good start. Keep us posted on your journey and we'll be here to support. The road to success is to take the first step and you've done that already. Wishing you much success and you can PM me anytime!

Dietitian visit not paided by insurance

I'd call up other dietitians and find out what they charge if it's out of your own pocket. That is ridiculous! I hate it when a profession takes advantage of a situation where they plan on overcharging because they know the weight loss business is a huge, huge money making industry. Shame on your dietician for taking advantage of you financially.

    Curious

Hi Marci, Just curious, are you actually having a revision to the sleeve, will your insurance cover it and if so, will you use the aurgeon who did your band? I hope you don't mind me asking but I sometimes think I should have opted for the sleeve initially but was concerned about the major cutting of the stomach. Thanks!
  10. Bad to have a toothache but perhaps it was a blessing in disguise. Good luck.
  11. My God, I 'm sorry for all your problems but just reading the tone of your letter that you're a very anxious. First off, you've got to let that ulcer heal and you've got to be more selective of what you eat now that you know you have an ulcer. Your doctor is correct in diagnosing you with IBS. It is very common in people who have WLS but you have to take care of your health and then go back to having your band filled. If I was worried about gaining weight I could have gone back to smoking to keep the weight off. I gained 70 lbs when I quit smoking but I will NEVER go back to smoking. Smoking curbed my appetite but I won't go back, my health is way too important to me. So get yourself better first then you can take off the weight that you gained. I wish you good luck
  12. Congratulations! That's a phenomenal weight loss for 6 months! I'm only down 55 but I'm happy to be closer to ONEderland than I ever have been before.
  13. You said you want to lose weight for your family. Firstly and most important of all is YOU! You have to want to do this for you. It's not selfish to think of yourself first. Be proud of the fact that you're doing something for yourself! You deserve it. Ok, I'm out of lecture mode now, I am still not in the green zone. I was banded almost 6 months ago. I've lost weight but I'm still hungry (in my head that is). I'm hoping my next fill will be my last fill for awhile but I'm in that band steer hell everyone is talking about. I'm afraid my next fill will be too much and it's a 3 hour drive to my surgeon's office. Anyway, you'll get there and remember you're doing it for you! Good luck!
  14. Let's see I was 64 when I was banded and I thought with all my health issues at the time that I wouldn't be a candidate for surgery. Well, I was wrong and my PCP felt it was medically necessary and I've never felt better. I'm off diabetic meds , my blood pressure is down and I'm able to walk more than I used to. I'm disabled but losing the weight has helped me tremendously.

    Scared

I'm happy so far was banded on 12.28/12
  16. Ok, I was banded on 12/28/12 and I still don't see a weight loss in the mirror. My scale says I've lost 55 lbs, but I just don't see it. My clothes are looser but certainly not falling off. I have a pair of pants that button at the waist so that is my guideline. When I can see those pants fall below my hips then I'll accept I've lost weight lol. I still have 67 lbs to go to reach what I will consider a reasonable weight for my age (145 lbs would be my goal weight but I wouldn't mind being 135). My fitness pal is my best friend and I follow it religiously so I'm proud of that. I am so looking forward to the day I hit ONEderland. Wishing all my December binders good luck as we continue on this journey!

    I got a surgery date..

    Congratulations and good luck!
  18. You have been successful thus far. 12 lbs. is just a bump in the road. You're on the right track and that 12 lbs will be off before you know it. Good luck to you!

    so discouraged

I'm so sorry. It took me 3 yrs to finally be covered for WLS. Your PCP has to confirm that it is medically necessary and that is the first requirement. Good luck, keep trying !

    Extremely sore throat!!!

Call your doctor ASAP. It could be anything. Can you swallow with the sore throat? I don't fool around with sore throats.

Please help a long term bander-Slippage?

Your gastroenterologist is not your surgeon who did the lapband I would think. Have you talked to your surgeon? I had my gallbladder out in 1980 so if a doctor tells me it's my gallbladder that means change my doctor. I would really get a second opinion and I wish you well.
  23. Well, I can officially say I'm 52 lbs down as of yesterday.now, that's what the scale says. I look in the full length mirror and I don't see any difference :-( I am still wearing the same clothes but some of the clothes do feel looser but I'm still seeing the same old me in the mirror. I hope I start to see a better image of me and recognize my weight loss.
