Lost 90lbs with 20 more to go

I don't tell anyone how much I have lost. I just say thank you if they say it looks like you're losing weight. This is my own personal business. I share my thoughts with this forum mainly.
  2. What an inspiration! I'm in it to win it with my band. My battle over obesity has been a lifetime event and the band is helping. Thanks for such a great post!

How are my May buddies doing?

I.m not a May buddy. I was a Dec 2012 bander but congratulations on your weight loss thus far! That's amazing and an even better accomplishment is that you're off your diabetic meds! Amazing! Keep up the good work! Even though I'm not a May buddy keep us all posted! I've lost a little over 50 lbs since 12/28. It's slow but it's coming off and I'm also off my diabetic meds!

    My journey so far.

Congrats on quitting the cigarettes. That was harder for me than losing weight. I'm off cigarettes for 30 yrs and I was up to 2 packs a day. I started showing signs of lung infections and I quit cold turkey. It was the hardest and the best thing I ever did. Now the Lapband is the best thing recently that I have done to obtain a quality of life. Keep up the good work!
  8. I think what you Re feeling is a perfectly normal reaction! I had that fear as well! I'm banded since 12.28/12.
  9. Yes, the scale can be your worst enemy. The only weight I hold myself accountable to is my PCP's and my bariatric surgeon. I get weighed once a month on my surgeon's scale and that's the number that counts. I will occasionally weigh myself at home but weight don't count. It becomes a frustrating obsession if you keep weighing yourself constantly.
  10. You have only had one fill and sometimes it can take a lot more before you get the sign to stop eating. I know someone personally who had his band completely unfilled because he was going on a cruise and he wanted to binge eat on everything. After the cruise he decided not to get re-filled because he liked his food too much. What was his point in getting the band if food was more important than a weight loss? What's my point in saying this? You probably will need a couple more fills before you feel like there is a stop point. With binge eating there is no stop point. You had this surgery for a reason, it is not a lose weight fast scheme. It takes time for the body to adjust. My friend who had his band unfilled has gained all his weight back plus more! Do you really want that? If you stick with it and choose healthy eating the binge eating will take a back burner to healthy eating habits. There are times when I feel like I could eat the whole world. I choose not to. I didn't have major surgery just to see it all come back. If you feel you must talk to a psychologist and by all means let your bariatric surgeon know. By the way, you can still go on a cruise and lose weight. I've done it and lost 10 lbs on a cruise. I did not deprive myself of anything. I just ate smaller portions. I know you can do this. It just takes time, perseverance and a lot of determination. Good luck and I know you can do this!

    Reached my first milestone!

Congratulations! I'm at a stall right now, have lost 55 lbs since 12/28/12 but I still have to reach my goal which will be ONEderland (under 200 lbs.). After that my next goal will be to get below 190. I'm setting my goals in 10 pound increments. If I didn't do that I'd be so frustrated! Hopefully I'll get to my goal by my one year bandiversary in Dec, 2013. One day at a time, slow and steady.
  12. Congratulations and welcome to our world! I wish you nothing but the best!

    "Fat-Free" Free Zone

Well, I agree with not using fat free or no fat products but my coffee and I have to have the Splenda or as a sub stevia. Aspartame is extremely bad for you. My friend was addicted to Diet Coke and she drank a 2 liter bottle daily. She found out she had fibromyalgia and the doctor told her to stop using products that contain aspartame. There is a marked improvement with her health since she stopped using aspartame products. She never had a weight problem but was walking with a cane for years. She now takes walks everyday without the aid of a cane.

    Although I hate taking selfies

Who's that handsome dude there lol? Seriously, you look fantastic! Congratulations!
  17. Well some people need more than two fills to head to the green zone. Be patient, it will happen.

    Pain in left side

The pain in the left shoulder is gas trying to escape. You have to move and walk a lot to rid yourself of it. Mice yours arms a lot too. The pain in your left side is probably port pain. It will go away but if it really bothers you a lot call your doctor. What you describe however is very common post op.
  19. The liquid diet isn't as cumbersome as it sounds. I supplemented my protein shakes with tea, coffee, broth and Crystal Light. Also, sugar free hard candy when my mouth tasted funny.
