GOOD FOR YOU GIRL! My daughter had the sleeve and her surgeon told her that the band had a high failure rate. Well, my daughter came in with a gain 6 weeks after her sleeve surgery. She was eating chips, cookies, etc. I had the band and yes I account for what I eat and log my calories on my fitness pal. My daughter does not do that and her nutritionist said she needed to be careful that she has to start eating sensibly and not to eat chips. I am so glad you chose the band. Btw, the sleeve cannot be reversed but at least the band can be reversed if medically necessary. Good luck to you!

Drinking before getting Lap Band?
dawalsh replied to bosscookie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, it's not just the beer but the carbonation from the beer. If you read through these threads you'll see where people no longer drink carbonated beverages. I believe it is because your pouch can become displayed. An occasional beer I guess could be OK but ask your doctor for sure. I have an occasional alcoholic beverage myself. I don't do it often however but I'm not a beer drinker. -
Going back to work...

Well, you better discuss it with your doctor. I stayed overnight in the hospital and it took a good week before I felt better but everybody's body is different. I had lortab for pain post op. You'll be on your feet all day if you're a hairdresser so just be aware that this is major surgery and you might want to let your job know you're having surgery. You might be a little uncomfortable. Good luck! -

Where in Dallas?

Where in Dallas do they do it for $50? I visit TX often so it's always good to know. Is it in a bariatric doctor's office? That is with a flouroscope? That's an incredible price. Where did you drive from to get to Dallas and where did you have your surgery?

Hi, I know after the clear fluids I was able to add them but I don't know if that's the rule of thumb. I was able to break up saltines in my broth.

My fitness Pal I find the best.

I agree lol. I have no problem with acid reflux at all and I do eat most of those foods. The only thing I have a problem with is starchy white rice.

Yup, you're perfectly normal! The main thing is to keep yourself hydrated. You may want to get some sugar free. Gatorade to help keep your electrolytes balanced. If it keeps up though, definitely give your doctor another call.

Welcome back! Please realize your with family here. The fact that you're getting back on track is the main thing! Also, as you stated this is for you and nobody else. I think your surgeon will be pleased that you're back onboard. Good luck!

Ok, I just turned the age of retirement. I feel more energy now than I did in the beginning. It wasn't a matter of being lazy I just physically could not exercise. I needed a mobility cart just to go food shipping. I'm happy to say I'm walking with the aid of the shopping cart. I've been disabled since 1980. I weighed less back then but my energy was high. I was walking with a cane but often did not need it. My exercise consists of about 15-25 min a day walking with my cane. My ultimate goal is to hopefully be cane free someday. Every little bit of exercise helps even if it's only 15 minutes of walking. The weight will come off. If you are still at a standstill contact your doctor or nutritionist. Maybe you have to adjust your caloric intake. I do better at 1500 calories than I do at 1200.
