    Food Monitors

Well, you're doing it for you not them! I'm on 1500 a day so I can imagine how your family members would tell me I was eating way too much lol! I'm losing weight, you're losing weight so what's the problem? Just keep doing what you're doing and let your scale speak for you. Unless your family has degrees in baristric medicine what do they know? I've said this before and I'll say it again be selfish! This is for you and no one else. As long as you're following the rules and losing weight with 1200 calories then good for you! You know what works for you so don't let anyone get you down. Best wishes to you!

    Lying About LapBand

The fact that I have not shown a drastic weight loss I feel that it is not necessary for everyone to know about my banding. Only my immediate family and my PCP and his staff know about it. Of course my PCP expected to have lost all my weight by now but I'm a slow loser always have been. Therefore, I don't feel it's necessary to tell everyone.

    Happy happy happy

    Congratulations! You look amazing!
  5. Good post to learn from! I had my gallbladder out way back in 1980 but back then they didn't do all the sophisticated tests they do now. I had to have exploratory surgery and my surgeon said my gallbladder was almost like a solid rock. I had the old fashioned surgery where they didn't do laparoscopic or laser for gallbladder. The post op pain was severe and I was given Demerol shots for pain. Anyway, here it is 2013 and back in April, I felt my port protruding way out of my stomach, it was a simple fix with my port being flipped but I'm glad I listened to my body right away and had it corrected. I'm so sorry you had to go through all the problems but thank God you're doing better and maintaining your weight. I hope that you have no more problems and that you'll continually keep losing or maintaining your weight. Thanks for the valuable lesson that we can all learn from to listen to our bodies.
  6. Funny, I'm banded 8 months and I have my second episode of that happening last night. I'm out of town and was out with a friend. I told her I had to eat something because I was starting to feel nauseous. She said we'll stop soon well one hour until we got home. I immediately got sick and started sliming. I was so sick I couldn't eat. It took me two hours to calm my stomach then I had a small bite to eat and was OK for about an hour but I had another episode of nausea but I was OK after that. I've come to the conclusion that I have to eat 3 times a day spaced no more than 4 hrs apart. I remember the first time it ever happened I waited too long to eat. Before banding I could skip meals without any problems. Since banding I eat a lot less but I have to eat, I can't skip a meal anymore and it has to be like every four hours . I hope you start feeling better. Best of luck to you.
  7. Look at how amazing you look! Fantastic! I still don't see a change either but I'm down 55 lbs and people tell me I've lost weight. I still don't have an after picture but maybe when I lose 80 lbs I 'll put an after picture. The only before picture I have is the one my doctor's nurse took the day before surgery. Congratulations on your weight loss. You look awesome!
  8. I was banded on 12/28/12 and I still have not reached the green zone yet. II feel like I'm getting close however,

    need some input

It would be worse to go through with the surgery only to come out in the recovery room and find out your liver was too fatty for you to be banded. Be honest with your surgeon and maybe you can postpone the surgery. Good luck to you.

So this is what self pride feels like

That is awesome! That is a personal victory I hope to accomplish someday. I walk with a cane so I can't run but I've walked half of a 5k walk/run. As I lose more weight as slow as it may be I hope to walk a little further. Keep up the good work!

    unexpected news

Thoughts and prayers being sent your way. My body is riddled with osteoarthritis but because of my other ailments was never considered a candidate for knee replacement surgery. The main reason being was my weight and the secondary reason my hemiparesis. I worry about my hips as well so I can imagine your devastation when you found out that your hips had to be replaced. Well, it may take time for you to recover but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Godspeed on your recovery.
  13. No regrets at all. I wish I had done this sooner. I started researching and attending seminars over 3 yrs ago. I had insurance but was initially denied. Then I changed insurance company and things started happening fast. I'm grateful for this band.

Why do I have so much flatulence{gas}?

I'm 7 months out and I still have the flatulence problem. It doesn't matter what I eat. Burping is not a problem for me but I wish I could control the gas better.

    Alcohol?

Well, ask your doctor for sure but I have had an occasional dirty gin martini and I've had no adverse reaction as of yet . I do incorporate it into my food log and calorie count. I don't drink unless it's a social occasion and if I'm driving I don't drink.
  16. Congrats! How far are you from goal ?

First day as a lap bander!

    Welcome to Lapband Land.
  18. Well, I'm not in the green zone yet and I've been banded since 12/28. I'm still sticking to the rules and counting my calories. I'm thinking I'll be getting to the green zone soon. Slow and steady but I'll get there.

First day as a lap bander!

Welcome to Lapband land! I felt like a Mack truck had hit me when I got home the next day. The good thing is it all goes away and now other than my port sticking out a little I don't even feel like I had surgery. Congratulations and good luck!
