Well,, I'm happy to say that after 18 months post op I have finally hit the sweet spot! I thought it would never happen! The last time I felt like this was during the "honeymoon" stage when I was first banded. I have a very conservative doctor when it comes to fills and I have been going religiously every month to get filled. The fact that I told him I would be gone for 6 weeks may have made him give me a bigger fill but I'm not complaining. It's working and I literally cannot eat more than 1/2 cup of food at a time. So I'm hopeful now that I won't have to go every month for a fill. I can truly say I'm doing a "Happy" dance! :-)

Me too! LOL! -
From one Grandma to another you'll do great! I'm up there in age as well and when I met a 72 yr old who had it done I changed my attitude forever. I figured if she could have it done at her age so could I. I'm in my. 60's and feeling great!

I'm a mom with grown kids myself. When I was growing up my mother was very much like yours always exaggerating the facts. If I got a B+ in grade school to her it was like an A- lol. Your Mom is actually proud of you for losing weight but she 's going about it the wrong way. When I would have a heart to heart with my mom she would get really upset because she 'd say she was proud of me. Well, I no longer have Mom and she died of Alzheimer's disease and I'd give anything now just to hear her exaggerations again so forgive Mom and just keep doing what you 're doing because 35 lbs is nothing to sneeze at. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for your post! You have proven what a positive attitude can do ! I am an ovarian cancer survivor and I had two strokes (one massive) at a very young age. I was determined to have a positive attitude and it has helped tremendously! I was well enough to get surgery and I had family saying it was too risky with my health. Well, I wasn't going to get better at the weight I was at. After surgery I stopped using a mobility cart to do my shopping and started pushing a grocery cart around for excercise. I walk with a cane now and I've walked a 5k, it took forever lol but unfortunately I cannot run. I have equilibrium problems but I refuse to give in! I hope and pray that you remain healthy for a very long time so you can be the great mom and wife that you are . I know the prednisone sucks but if it helps you, you've got to take it. Keep up the good work and I wish you nothing but the best !

Congratulations on doing everything right! It's not the band working. It's you working with your tool! Way to go, so proud of you! -
Were you banded at TLBC? (Toronto Lap-Band Centre) - pre 2008

i'm in the states but can't you former patients start a class action lawsuit of some kind? I'm sure some lawyer would be interested in what has happened to all of you! -
well, I hope it happens sooner for you than it did for me lol. I told my doc I'd be in San Antonio, TX for 6 weeks and could not make an appointment for July. It just happened like that. It started three days ago with that feeling and I'm actually satisfied with 1/2 cup of food. Of course it's what I'm eating as well. I try to avoid slider foods and start with protein either poultry, beef or fish and after chewing my protein. I don't have much room left for anything else. I do try to get a veggie down but I can only eat about a tablespoon of veggies. My son made mashed potatoes yesterday and I took one spoonful. I could not even finish it. I'm hoping I stay this way for awhile. It's taken me so long to get there!

Sssshhhh. I believe I am finally in the green zone after 9 months.
dawalsh replied to Kathytej's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Good for you! It took a whopping 18 months to get to the green zone. I was beginning to think it would never happen but it has and I'm very grateful! I can't worry about the poor people starving anymore lol . If I can't eat anymore I stop no matter how much is left on my plate. Yes, I grew up in an era where my parents told me it was a sin to waste food. Well I'm listening to myself now and not my parents who are long gone but it still sticks in my head how they used to lecture me. Lol! -
I'm so happy for you. I sure hope I hit ONEderland soon myself :-)

Hope it went well. I found there was nothing to be nervous about! Good luck ! -
It does sound like you have developed a sensitivity to dairy. I wouldn't know if you're lactose intolerant but my sister in law was she could not eat dairy of any kind including pizza which she once loved.I would say stay off the dairy if it makes you feel better but definitely check with your doctor because only your doctor can give you the best advice.

Starting Again 6 Years Later
dawalsh replied to JThompson72's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That was wonderful! Thanks! I learned a lot! I have been following the rules for the most part but there were things I was not sure about like drinking with the meal being OK. Alcohol in moderation is OK. I love the 8 Golden rules! -
Experiences with Phentermine?
dawalsh replied to RellaBelle's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
I've tried every known weight loss drug known including the Fen Phen and phentermine on it's own. I had no side effects from the phentermine but after about two weeks it was no longer effective on me. I would not use it again ever. -
What if I do not get my referral?
dawalsh replied to ambieambs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My doctor was against it but I wrote this long letter to him as to why I felt it was medically necessary and that I needed a referral. He gave it to me. If he didn't I would have found another doctor. -

I used to go to stores that only carried plus size clothes . I 'd look at catalogs and if they didn't carry plus size clothes I recycled them immediately. Now I'm in a pickle because everything just hangs on me. I'm in between sizes as well. Sometimes I can wear a 16, other times it's an 18. I used to buy the clothes and try them on at home when I was in plus sizes. Now I have to try everything on. It is so frustrating but in a good way! Congratulations on your awesome weight loss!

ditto here Jack. I think a lot of us have tried almost every conceived of notion for weight loss before we went to WLS. Hypnosis was a novelty for me. I even had to sign a an 8 week contract. So for 8 weeks I convinced myself to only eat 3 meals a day and nothing in between. Well, let me tell you. I was counting the days until my 8 weeks were up. Then I come to find out that this hypnotist was not licensed or registered with the state. I got a full refund back and convinced myself at that point that hypnosis was a bunch of malarkey.

I'm just curious about insurance and revisions. If there is a complication would insurance cover it? When my port flipped my insurance covered it but if I ever had a major complication and was advised to revise to the sleeve, I'm wondering if I would be covered. I ask because I was told that most insurance companies will only allow one type of WLS. Just curious.
