I'm still not having restriction either and I've been banded since 12/28/12 and I'm hungry but I've learned so much and I'm extremely grateful. I've learned portion control and that every calorie counts and I'm OK with that. My doctor is conservative with his fills and I'm hoping that when I get my next fill which is next Monday, I'll start feeling satiety/restriction. In the meantime, I'll continue to eat properly. Down 58 lbs without restriction so I'm doing a happy dance anyway!

I've been eating regularly after a fill. I do chew the heck out of everything I eat so it might as well be liquid or mushy lol. Anyway, I have had no issues yet but I am very cautious with what I eat.

Well that's one cigarette too many I'd say. Glad I gave up the habit cold turkey over 30 yrs ago and I was up to two packs a day.

Don't be floored by your friend's "non" response. I'm sure your friend is happy in their own silent way. I was like that before being banded. I was happy and envious of people who lost weight through WLS and was always at a loss for words thinking I might say the wrong thing. Be happy for yourself and eventually your friend might come around and say something.

Yes, there are complications with everything and a lot is mental. My daughter is a perfect example. She opted for the sleeve over the band. Her surgeon told her that the band had a high failure rate and that he only did the band on request. Well 6 WLS after her surgery she had a two pound gain. Her problem? She was still eating like she did before and was eating slider foods like chips, cookies, etc. I told my daughter that getting the sleeve did not give her a free pass to eat whatever she wanted. I told her just like my band is a tool, her permanently reduced stomach was a tool as well. So now she has started on the right path but the mental hunger is there just like it is with the band. I'll keep my band thank you. Having 75% of my stomach removed scares me to no end but I'll never condemn anyone for what're WLS they choose. I just know that the band is working for me!

Minor setback, Major comeback

Good for you! Every time I feel like I could eat more than the slotted amount, I knew it was mental and it still is! When I feel like I can eat more I think about my prize at the end of the tunnel. I'm not at goal but I'm already claiming part of my prize and that's a healthier me! You are a winner for realizing that you can do this and you will! Good luck! -

Movement is your best bet to get rid of that awful gas pain. Take deep breaths and walk, walk, walk! Move your arms as much as possible. The pain does go away even though you think it won't, it will. Try sleeping with a heating pad, the heat helped my back tremendously. -
I eat them all the time. However, please realize that a 1/4 cup serving is approximately 170 calories.

My prayers that you remain healthy and thank God, a chest x-ray is a standard procedure pre-op! -
You best ask your doctor. I'm 8 months out and I've never had a stuck problem. I'm able to swallow most pills. I'm not at restriction yet but my doctor is conservative with the fills and I'm fine with that.

Old bandsters....enough weight loss?

I agree with Pasteur o, God is on your side and don't ever, ever give up. If I gave up way back in 1980, I wouldn't be walking or talking today. I was told I would never walk again and to resign myself to a wheelchair. Well, I knew better than t listen to that and I put all my faith in God and I'm walking (with a cane but still walking) and talking. I was told I would never talk right again. Well, I give motivational speeches now. I feel the same about the band. I'm keeping the faith and leaving it all in the hands of a higher power. God bless you in all your endeavors. -
